Infinity Spirits The Royal Cane Cask Company St. Lucia 2000 John Dore
"Very fruity which is a bit untypical," one festival taster said, loving it — but most members landed lower. The nose is the high point: an old-rum smell, lemon peel, oak. Then the palate often falls off thin and woody, with tobacco, lychee and a bitter, drying edge. A 22-year St. Lucia pot still that promises more than the glass delivers for many.
- Inviting old-rum nose
- Tropical fruit notes
- 22-Year pot still

Tasted at the Whisky & Rum aan Zee festival IJmuiden 2023. Single pot still Lucia. Very fruity which is a bit untypical. Loved it.
Review by Johannes
Exciting! I know few continental matured Lucias. The character is typical, but very tame, or too tame, due to the dilution. Fruit and honey tend to dominate here.

#4126 Despite the ABV being below 50 it still has a nice warm and spicy touch to it. Lightly fruity with some nice roasted wood as well as a light smoky note. There is a nice natural sweetness to it. Draws nice fast moving curtains in the glass. The empty glass has some chocolate and spices.

Cross-tasting with seven bottlings from Royal Cane. Promising nose, somewhat one-dimensional on the palate, slightly too woody on the finish. Overall, none of the bottlings convinced me.

Quite ok, but for the age I would have expected a bit more pep
Review by crazyforgoodbooze
I find now not particularly outstanding. Somewhat thin and also quite bitter, astringent and acidic. A lot of tobacco, a lot of wood, a lot of lychee and discreet passion fruit / papaya, some mint, green tea and salty licorice ... Doesn't blow me away personally, also don't understand how after 22 years of continental aging such a low alcohol content can come about. Allegedly barrel strength according to the manufacturer.

I like St. Lucia better tropically matured. However, the nose is quite delicious
Review by Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" 🤓
Very inviting nose, smells like an old rum. But falls off quite a bit on the palate as a limp, woody distillate. I'm not at all familiar with the extremely expressive John Dore and I don't particularly like it. A below-average representative from Saint Lucia.

I really expected a bit more, 22 years. The nose is still fine, but then there's a lot more to come. Overall very disappointing for its age
