Black currant ,kiwi and mint great nose .Spicy and inviting. On the palate ui ui ui ... similar to the nose only again a scoop more intense, wow really good. No off notes or bitterness apparent.

Strong mint / menthol notes on the nose and the palate. Both alongside fruits and quite some dirt. This bottling is very nice and delivers a high intensity on the palate, being well balanced between fresh notes and dirty and woody notes.

Boom! Even when pouring from the sample, it becomes clear why I was hyped on the FRC last year and why I found it so disappointing. Today again in direct comparison. The RdL has everything I would expect from a 2002 TDL: mint en masse, ripe yellow fruit (ripe peach) and my beloved falernum aroma - almond, ginger, cloves, lime, cane sugar: it's all there. Intense and round. The FRC is not dissimilar, but paler and unripe, with a sour ester note, the falernum is only hinted at. I remember the mouth of the RA as an unexpected explosion. The FRC, on the other hand, is characterized by wateriness. The mouth of the RdL is intense, but not an explosion: mint, which becomes mentholated towards the finish, peach, melon, bitter grapefruit, some hops and the falernum once again. The wood and alcohol are perfectly integrated. The finish is super long, dry, soft and volatile. Sucking grapefruit-falernum-peach iced tea for minutes. I love this profile 🤤 Shame the much more attractively priced FRC could only deliver a thin decal of this. Still have a bottle of RA, so I'll save myself the €200. Edit. Second tasting against the new Cadenhead. The Cadenhead is great, brilliantly bright and drinkable, but the RdL is quite a bit more complex due to the tart grapefruit, cloves and the noticeable wood. An absolute top rum!

On the nose, the T.D.L comes across as sweetly fruity with a hint of mint... almost delicate. On the palate, it then explodes. Complex and intense, it starts with a brief sweetness, then shifts to sour fruits followed by spices and menthol. The alcohol needs to be tamed. I also notice mocha aromas. The finish is medium-length, marked by a spicy, herbal side... later dark dried fruits come in. Top bottling.

Today there are 3x T.D.L 1st Cadenhead's 1991, 24yo: Typical T.D.L profile. More on the woody side with yellow fruits. The alcohol is well integrated. The usual dirty notes are also present. The finish is quite dry and medium-long, with increasingly dirty aromas. It lacks a little complexity. 85 pts. 2nd Rome Deluxe 2002, 20yo: Equally typical T.D.L profile. This time much less wood and not as dirty, but much fruitier. The alcohol is very well integrated, petrol mint in the long finish. Reminds me off the top of my head of the 2009 T.D.L from TheWhiskyJury. Very tasty! Now I'll probably have to find a whole bottle of it =P 88 pts. 3rd Blackadder 2005, 16 yo: A bottling that I didn't have on my radar until now. It also goes more in the dirty direction. There is no trace of bright fruit here. A great contrast to the Rome Deluxe. The finish is sharp in comparison to the other two, and the alcohol is not so well integrated. More complex than the Cadenheads. Too bad about the spicy note, but still a great rum that might develop well in the bottle! 85 pts.

04.05.2024 Retasting during a nice exclusive tasting at Romdeluxe. I stick to my score and I still love it. -------------------------- #4072 This is the 4th time I've sampled this one and I really like it. So much so that I have a bottle on the shelf to enjoy. Lightly woody with fruits and spices. There is a light dirty set of workshop notes and I really like that part.

On par with RA's T.D.L 2002 (RX7783) in all respects. A board without weaknesses. I still have to test it directly against the FRC T.D.L, but I already suspect nothing good for the FRC, which was highly praised by me at the time.

Extremely complex nose. Layered, everyone smells something different. Tropical fruit, freshness, nail polish, and great plastic notes. Alcohol perfectly integrated. You can spend a lot of time with this. 🤩🤩🤩 On the palate then very nice spices, which also dominate the very long finish. A great rum. Not for casual sipping, it demands attention. Thanks to Bonn!! PS: Yes, plenty of black currants. 😎

The nose starts very intense with a mix of sweetness, fruitiness (kiwi and cassis!), herbs (mint and eucalyptus!) Very wicked!On the palate it really gets going: blatantly intense mint, cassis and heavy aromas from the barrel. Additionally, a slight sweetness. The finish is eternally long and intense.The similarity to the RA 2002 T.D.L is very clear. Who knows the RA, misses nothing here.

A superb T.D.L. from 2002, which is hyper-fruity, oscillating between black fruit (blackcurrant), yellow fruit, citrus (lime) and tropical fruit (pineapple, mango, papaya). A breeze of floral and mentholated freshness, enhanced by eucalyptus, lightly perfumes the nostrils. Toasty wood, leather, cocoa and spices (vanilla, cinnamon, pepper, ginger) round out a very round, fragrant and elegant profile. On the palate, the rum is voluptuous. Menthol hits the palate with full force, accompanied by eucalyptus and aromatic herbs. This is followed by a myriad of fruits, from blackcurrant and melon to peach, lime, mango and pineapple. Wood and spice close the ball with notes of ginger, vanilla, pepper and clove. Alcohol slightly titillates the palate, but remains very well integrated. The finish is long, lingering on menthol, blackcurrant, citrus, spice and a hint of bitterness on leather and tea notes. Although the price is slightly higher than other cuvées, this is a complete T.D.L., very aromatic and full-bodied, which will delight menthol lovers in particular.

First various yellow fruits like apricot, peach, mirabelle, which then go over to caramel, subtle dirty hints, menthol. On the palate caramel, workshop, oak barrel, and also a good portion of menthol in the aftertaste. A really good, 'classic' TDL from the 2000-2003 vintages.

My first rum from Trinidad and what can I say, a bullseye. Very round, I especially like the vegetal note on the palate. Edit: Tasted against TDL CDI 2003 / RX1629, TDL RA 2002 / RX7783 and TDL RC 44/ RX19670. All 4 rums were allowed to breathe about half an hour. Nose: The RC 44 is a bit closed on the nose, you can subtly detect light fruits and very lightly minty. The CDI 2003 is even more closed, only some mirabelle or peach is noticeable. The RA 2002 I find slightly caramel. The RdL 2002 is also quite closed, here I only find very light light yellow fruits. Palate: The RC 44 is comparatively herbal and bitter on the palate for a 2002, and less sweet. The light yellow fruits are somewhat in the background and it has more herbs. Some water doesn’t necessarily help it open up more. The CDI 2003 is more floral, a bit fruitier and sweeter and also less bitter in comparison. The CDI 2003 also doesn’t necessarily get better with some water, but more drinkable. The RA 2002 I find slightly caramel at first, then light fruits and a slight bitterness. With some water it opens up a bit more and becomes more drinkable. A nice, balanced combination of light yellow fruits and mint and in the background light caramel, dirt and a herbal bitterness. The RdL 2002 is very similar in profile to the RA 2002, but for me a good bit more complex and refined, multifaceted. All aromas of the RA are present, but here raised to a higher level. Some water helps to perceive the whole spectrum of aromas even better. Simply a really great rum! Finish: The finish is about equally long for all 4 TDL, with the CDI 2003’s mint lasting a bit more, the RA’s caramel and the RdL’s full aroma spectrum lingering. Ranking: 1. RdL 2002 / 89 points 2. RA 2002 / 87 points 3. CDI 2003 / 86 points 4. RC 44 / 85 points Edit: The last sip from the bottle was even better. This rum is just a beast and deserves the 9 before the decimal point.

Today a small TDL tasting, with RX13557, RX 944, RX15670, RX 19670, RX15565 and RX20525. RomDeluxe No. 42 is so far my reference for the TDL bottlings. Everything I like about the TDL profile is there: blackcurrant, mint, eucalyptus, just the right amount of wood and pleasant sweetness. What luck that I bought a bottle at the fair 😉

Delicious of Moroccan mint, cognac, yellow fruit and cassis on the nose and palate. Still kiwi and watermelon on the nose. Nicely balanced and strongly minty without being too "mentholig".

Great TDL. Again with intense notes of lychee and mint. That's exactly what I love about the distillery. The alcohol is nicely integrated and the rum comes very intense. I talked the dealer into giving me the opened sample bottle because he was unfortunately sold out of this product.

Awesome stuff! Blackcurrant, mint on the nose. On the palate, nicely intense, also roasted. Again blackcurrant and mint, a bit of melon sweetness, with an intriguing ginger spiciness in the background.

The nose very intense with a mix of sweetness, fruitiness, herbal mint, really delicious. On the palate intense mint, blackcurrant and barrel aromas. Additionally a light sweetness. The aftertaste is long and intense. A good drop with recognizability.

Intense herbal mix with local thyme, coriander, paprika, and Scotch Bonnet chilies, a fresh breeze of mint with a hint of dirty pepper sauce, lightly sweetened but never dominated by papaya, mango, and coconut. I like the overall balance between mint, fruit and touch of dark chocolate. Some root spices, vanilla and sweetness also present. Right after having TWJ 03 this was is more rich and even more enjoyable. Alcohol in both very well integrated.

Very nice TDL. Somewhat atypically fruity with lots of yellow fruits like yellow kiwi, honeydew melon and peaches but also a slight ginger sharpness. The typical menthol is there but not overly dominant. Alcohol could be integrated a bit better. Still a nice release!

Okay hear me out. It was intense… and great dot after todays degustation. This one is such a chameleon. First seconds after pouring into glass the mint was less noticable and I scented earth a lot. Then the scent bloomed and developed more into mint/ eucalyptus. There was leather in taste, some sour fruits and earthiness present too. :) Give me more!

First impression immediately menthol, mint, very long-lasting. Very intense! Citrus fruits/grapefruit. Really appeals to me because of the menthol/mint notes. I just noticed the rum is 63%, for that the alcohol is very well integrated.

Beautiful matte bottle under 100 euros. You can feel the alcohol, but very drinkable. I recommend it even to beginner rum drinkers to discover new flavors. The mint from TDL is an unmistakable taste that you will never get tired of.

2002 T.D.L from Romdeluxe. Beautiful interplay of sweetness and acidity. Mint, menthol, fruity and wood. Really nicely balanced. Only the alcohol integration bothers a bit. Needs some time in the glass.

I find this 2002 extremely gentle, soft, delicate and pleasing - its complexity reveals itself less on the palate for me than actually in the finish and this is really of enormous length! Here the Angostura note mixes very subtly with tobacco and some leather and then becomes fruity and very minty towards the end. This is one of those rums that only really show what they can do in the finish - price-performance wise I see it critically, as for me it is not a 200€ rum - rather in the 100€-150€ range. Such a Vinolock already looks good - since RomDeluxe gives me the impression that they sell collectibles more by packaging and price class (who doesn’t like a whole zoo and some rainbow unicorns in the living room? :P), a closure solution based on a rubber material that tends to disintegrate and become brittle over time and thus becomes permeable to air and alcohol seems problematic to me, where a quality natural cork closure would keep high-quality spirits longer in my opinion and even be cheaper.

Nose: Smoked mint, grilled pineapple, honey and ripe sweet mirabelle, slight furniture polish on a designer oak table, clean, delicate, very nice fruitiness, for me closer to the 2000 vintage, a bit less punch and cleaner than the 2001 vintage. Palate: Immediately sweet strawberries, lots of mint sweet and juicy, salty caramel, gooseberry and kiwi, cassis, honey, hemp, leather polish, very nice! Clearly better on the palate than on the nose, on the palate similar to Rasta Morris but with a slightly shorter finish and on the nose Rasta Morris 2001 clearly wins over RdL 2002, which on the palate is also a bit stronger than Plantation 2001, whose nose is ahead of RdL. Overall today: Rasta Morris > Rom de Luxe minimal > Plantation 2001 almost equal with <> Cadenheads Green Label Trinidad 18 yo. which without dilution would probably be better than Plantation > Tamosi TDL 2000 which here is completely outclassed, no chance. Strong 2002 T.D.L. On the nose it still seems very reserved and shy, but on the palate it unfolds the full program it hinted at on the nose. Very intense mint, menthol, black currants, peach, paired with a potpourri of spices, wonderful. The finish is medium to long, now with very nice intense peach-apricot-tea notes. The RDL ranks right at the very top among the 2002 TDLs.

Nose : typical TDL menthol but with a serious amount of fruits (cassis, dark red fruits, mango) Taste : very clean profile for such a rum, elegant menthol and more fruits, Finale : long, menthol still present and some barrel notes Alcohol is very well integrated.
