Hammer teil! Schwarze Johannisbeere, Minze in der Nase. Im Mund dann schön intensiv, dabei auch röstig. Wieder schwarze Johannisbeere und Minze, etwas Melonensüße, im Hintergrund ne spannende Ingwerschärfe

Wowwwwww excellent ce tdl j’adore 😊 en premier lieu car n’est pas dominé par la menthe ou l’eucalyptus comme souvent, on le sent, même bien, mais ça reste subtile du coup ça laisse la place aux autres arômes 🤩🤩🤩😍😍😍 gros kiff sur RDL

Boom! Even when pouring from the sample, it becomes clear why I was hyped on the FRC last year and why I found it so disappointing. Today again in direct comparison. The RdL has everything I would expect from a 2002 TDL: mint en masse, ripe yellow fruit (ripe peach) and my beloved falernum aroma - almond, ginger, cloves, lime, cane sugar: it's all there. Intense and round. The FRC is not dissimilar, but paler and unripe, with a sour ester note, the falernum is only hinted at. I remember the mouth of the RA as an unexpected explosion. The FRC, on the other hand, is characterized by wateriness. The mouth of the RdL is intense, but not an explosion: mint, which becomes mentholated towards the finish, peach, melon, bitter grapefruit, some hops and the falernum once again. The wood and alcohol are perfectly integrated. The finish is super long, dry, soft and volatile. Sucking grapefruit-falernum-peach iced tea for minutes. I love this profile 🤤 Shame the much more attractively priced FRC could only deliver a thin decal of this. Still have a bottle of RA, so I'll save myself the €200. Edit. Second tasting against the new Cadenhead. The Cadenhead is great, brilliantly bright and drinkable, but the RdL is quite a bit more complex due to the tart grapefruit, cloves and the noticeable wood. An absolute top rum!

04.05.2024 Retasting during a nice exclusive tasting at Romdeluxe. I stick to my score and I still love it. -------------------------- #4072 This is the 4th time I've sampled this one and I really like it. So much so that I have a bottle on the shelf to enjoy. Lightly woody with fruits and spices. There is a light dirty set of workshop notes and I really like that part.

A superb T.D.L. from 2002, which is hyper-fruity, oscillating between black fruit (blackcurrant), yellow fruit, citrus (lime) and tropical fruit (pineapple, mango, papaya). A breeze of floral and mentholated freshness, enhanced by eucalyptus, lightly perfumes the nostrils. Toasty wood, leather, cocoa and spices (vanilla, cinnamon, pepper, ginger) round out a very round, fragrant and elegant profile. On the palate, the rum is voluptuous. Menthol hits the palate with full force, accompanied by eucalyptus and aromatic herbs. This is followed by a myriad of fruits, from blackcurrant and melon to peach, lime, mango and pineapple. Wood and spice close the ball with notes of ginger, vanilla, pepper and clove. Alcohol slightly titillates the palate, but remains very well integrated. The finish is long, lingering on menthol, blackcurrant, citrus, spice and a hint of bitterness on leather and tea notes. Although the price is slightly higher than other cuvées, this is a complete T.D.L., very aromatic and full-bodied, which will delight menthol lovers in particular.

Extrem komplexe Nase. Vielschichtig, bei jedem Schnüffler was Anderes. Tropische Frucht, Frische, Nagellack und tolle Plastiknoten. Alkohol perfekt eingebunden. Damit kann man viel Zeit verbringen. 🤩🤩🤩 Im Mund dann sehr schöne Gewürze, die dann auch den sehr langen Abgang dominieren. Ein toller Rum. Nichts für nebenbei, er braucht Aufmerksamkeit. Danke nach Bonn!! PS: Ja, reichlich schwarze Johannisbeeren. 😎

Mein erster Rum aus Trinidad und was soll ich sagen, ein Volltreffer. Sehr rund, mir gefällt vor allem die pflanzliche Note am Gaumen. Edit: Verkostet gegen TDL CDI 2003 / RX1629, TDL RA 2002 / RX7783 und TDL RC 44/ RX19670. Alle 4 Rum durften ca. eine halbe Stunde atmen. Nase: Der RC 44 ist in der Nase etwas verschlossen, dezent nimmt man aber helle Früchte und ganz leicht Minze war. Der CDI 2003 ist noch verschlossener, einzig etwas Mirabelle oder Pfirsich nehme ich war. Beim RA 2002 finde ich ganz leicht Karamell. Der RdL 2002 ist ebenfalls ziemlich verschlossen, hier finde ich nur ganz leicht helle gelbe Früchte. Gaumen: Der RC 44 ist für einen 2002er am Gaumen vergleichsweise krautig und bitter und weniger süß. Die hellen gelben Früchte sind etwas im Hintergrund und dafür hat er mehr Kräuter. Etwas Wasser hilft ihm nicht unbedingt, sich weiter zu öffnen. Der CDI 2003 ist im Vergleich floraler, etwas fruchtiger und süßer und auch weniger bitter. Auch der CDI 2003 wird mit etwas Wasser nicht unbedingt besser, aber süffiger. Beim RA 2002 finde ich im ersten Moment leicht Karamell, dahinter dann helle Früchte und eine leichte Bitterkeit. Mit etwas Wasser öffnet er sich noch etwas und wird süffiger. Eine schöne, ausgewogene Kombination aus hellen gelben Früchten und Minze und dazu im Hintergrund leicht Karamell, Dreck und eine krautige Bitterkeit. Der RdL 2002 ist vom Profil her dem RA 2002 sehr ähnlich, aber für mich noch ein gutes Stück komplexer und ausgefeilter, facettenreicher. Alle Aromen des RA sind vorhanden, aber hier noch einmal auf ein höheres Level gehoben. Etwas Wasser hilft, das ganze Spektrum an Aromen noch etwas besser wahrnehmen zu können. Einfach ein richtig toller Rum! Abgang: Der Abgang ist bei allen 4 TDL in etwa gleichlang, wobei beim CDI 2003 etwas mehr die Minze anhält, beim RA das Karamell und beim RdL das volle Aromenspektrum nachhallt. Ranking: 1. RdL 2002 / 89 Punkte 2. RA 2002 / 87 Punkte 3. CDI 2003 / 86 Punkte 4. RC 44 / 85 Punkte Edit: Der letzte Schluck aus der Flasche war nochmal besser. Dieser Rum ist einfach ein Brett und verdient die 9 vor dem Komma.

Toller tdl. Wieder mit intensiven tönen von litschi und Minze. Genau das liebe ich an der destille so. Der Alkohol ist schön eingebunden und der rum kommt sehr intensiv. Habe dem Händler die angefangene Probeflasche abgeschwatzt weil er mit diesem Produkt leider ausverkauft war

Intensive Kräutermischung mit landestypischen Thymian, Koriander, Paprika und Scotch Bonnet Chilis, ein frischer Wind von Minze mit einem Hauch dreckiger Pfeffersauce, die von Papaya, Mango und Kokosnuss leicht süß, aber nie dominant umspielt werden. Dazu Tamarinde, mit leicht süß-säuerlicher Note und etwas Barbecue am Horizont. Brett

Okay hear me out. It was intense… and great dot after todays degustation. This one is such a chameleon. First seconds after pouring into glass the mint was less noticable and I scented earth a lot. Then the scent bloomed and developed more into mint/ eucalyptus. There was leather in taste, some sour fruits and earthiness present too. :) Give me more!

Nase: Geräucherte Minze, gegrillte Ananas, Honig und reife süße Mirabelle, leichte Möbelpolitur auf einem Designer-Eichentisch, clean, filigran, sehr schöne Fruchtigkeit, für mich näher am 2000er Vintage, etwas weniger punch und sauberer als das 2001er Vintage. Gaumen: Direkt Süße Erdbeeren, viel Minze süß und saftig, salty Karamell, Stachelbeere und Kiwi, Cassis, Honig, Hanf, Lederpolitur, sehr schön! deutlich besser am Gaumen als in der Nase, am Gaumen ähnlich dem Rasta Morris nur mit etwas kürzerem Abgang und in der Nase gewinnt eindeutig der Rasta Morris 2001 vor dem RdL 2002, der am Gaumen auch etwas stärker ist als der Plantation 2001, dessen Nase aber vor dem RdL liegt. Insgesamt heute: Rasta Morris>Rom de Luxe minimal >Plantation 2001 quasi gleichauf mit <> Cadenheads Green Label Trinidad 18 yo. der ohne Verdünnung wohl besser als der Plantation gewesen wäre > Tamosi TDL 2000 der hier komplett das Nachsehen hat, chancenlos. Insgesamt heute: Rasta Morris>Rom de Luxe minimal >Plantation 2001 quasi gleichauf mit <> Cadenheads Green Label Trinidad 18 yo. der ohne Verdünnung wohl besser als der Plantation gewesen wäre > Tamosi TDL 2000 der hier komplett das Nachsehen hat, chancenlos. 2001+2003 ähnlich viel Minze und Diesel und Politur und Eiche beste 2000+2002 ähnlich weniger Minze kaum Diesel weniger Politur und weniger Eiche. Stil Spanisch typischer aber sehr schön und deutlich kraftvoller als was sonst so aus dieser Stilistik bekannt ist.

An der Nase erscheintder T.D.L süßlich fruchtig mit einem Hauch von Minze.. das mutet fast schon lieblich an. Am Gaumen explodiert er dann. Komplex und intensiv stellt er sich da…anfangs mit einer kurzen Süße, Wechselt er dann zu säuerlichen Früchten verfolgt von Gewürzen und Menthol. Der Alkohol muss gebändigt werden. Mokka-Aromen nehme ich auch wahr. Der Abgang ist mittellang geprägt von einer würzig pflanzlichen Seite..später kommen noch dunkle Trockenfrüchte dazu. Top-Abfüllung

On par with RA's T.D.L 2002 (RX7783) in all respects. A board without weaknesses. I still have to test it directly against the FRC T.D.L, but I already suspect nothing good for the FRC, which was highly praised by me at the time.

The nose starts very intense with a mix of sweetness, fruitiness (kiwi and cassis!), herbs (mint and eucalyptus!) Very wicked!On the palate it really gets going: blatantly intense mint, cassis and heavy aromas from the barrel. Additionally, a slight sweetness. The finish is eternally long and intense.The similarity to the RA 2002 T.D.L is very clear. Who knows the RA, misses nothing here.

I like the overall balance between mint, fruit and touch of dark chocolate. Some root spices, vanilla and sweetness also present. Right after having TWJ 03 this was is more rich and even more enjoyable. Alcohol in both very well integrated.
