If you like clean, restrained German rum and don't need a big PX punch, this one's worth a look. The sherry is there — dried apricot, a little cherry, vanilla and caramel — but it stays gentle, and the oak does a lot of the talking. At 46.2% it drinks well, though several tasters call it a touch thin and short on depth. Pleasant, not profound.

So this one is a success! Of the five Feller samples tasted on this vacation, this is probably the rum that appeals to me the most. And that despite the sherry finish! Inviting on the nose, spicy on the palate, I would say more brandy than sherry. I don't "need" a bottle of this, but I liked it and will remember it fondly.

Well, somehow I can't do much with the sherry casks, still quite okay. Of course plenty of sherry on the nose and palate, otherwise we also have some wood, as well as vanilla and caramel. Over time it also becomes slightly chocolaty.

Feller is always worth trying. But since I'm not into PX at all, I don't expect much, also because of the other specs. Nose: sweet citrusy with lemon and orange and artificial candied lemon, then the PX with typical dried apricot. Maybe black currant and gooseberry come in too. A bit of vanilla that gets stronger at the back. More but also not, and too artificial. 7.0 Palate: feels light and a bit thin, initially slightly bitter, followed by lemon peel, getting sweeter towards sugar water with vanilla, now a slight cherry comes in. PX and dried apricot I would only want to recognize then. Overall unfortunately too thin and flat. The PX just makes it sweeter. In the finish I taste a bit of mushrooms... 6.8

A well-balanced distillate but without real depth, certainly very clean but lacking complexity. The PX sherry cask is only subtle compared to its many brothers and sisters on the market.

Bought at the Rum Festival in Berlin. I already had the Cognac cask from RumReich and my girlfriend really liked it, I found it okay. However, with this rum, we agreed it doesn't reach the Cognac level. The alcohol is noticeable, the wood taste almost completely covers the sherry. A pity, but the bottle is very nice.
