Best sipped neat with 20-30 minutes of air to settle the heat. This young Hampden LROK spent time in oloroso, and that sherry shows: cherry, banana and vanilla up front, marzipan and dried fruit on a creamy, spicy palate. The ester funk is there but muted — several tasters felt the cask "overpowers" the Hampden DNA. Rounded and drinkable, if a touch flat.

Good sipper ... LROK gene still to feel.... nevertheless, the storage in the Oloroso barrel is too much for me personally .It does not destroy the rum completely but predominates yet very much .cherry,banana and vanilla arrive in the nose and on the palate ... quite ok but clearly too expensive

It's delicious, pineapple, ester funk on the nose. In the mouth creamy honey but also spice and of course alcohol and ester notes. It's nice stuff, no question, but a little too flat, especially at this price.

Tasted at Pueblo del Ron Nuremberg 2024. The conversation with the guys from Romdeluxe was unfortunately much more fun than the rum itself. You can drink it but you don't have to. It's okay, but I wouldn't spend that much money on it.

26-27.01.2024 Hanse Spirit Retasting and still like it a lot. ---------------------- #4564 20.01.2024 Relaxing a bit today ☺️ This is a pretty good release. The ABV could have been better integrated, but resting it for a good 30+ minutes will do it good. Nice fruity profile overall and the nose is intense with some ester and light marzipan. The palate is intense and spicy with nice fruit and light esters. The finish is long and warm with nice fruits. The empty glass has some light caramel and faint nutts.

Easy to drink. Very round and balanced. But hardly any Hampden notes let alone any other pronounced flavor notes. The rum leaves you with a pleasant feeling without any edges or any distinctive features. You can't expect much more after 2 years of continental aging. So a good product. Where the fair price of 135€ at the fair comes from is beyond me though. The owl isn't that nice.

Good. I liked the sherry, and the rum was quite tasty. But somehow it didn’t grab me. And the roughly 130 per bottle wasn’t worth it to me.

... Hampden, the legendary Jamaican distillery that besides rum also produces alcohol for perfumes. In all rums from this distillery, you can smell wild esters, after which your whole body soaks up the scent of yellow tropical fruits - mango, papaya, pineapple, peach. One of the rums you "must try before you die".
