4 Chairmans in direct comparison: 1st Chairmans 1802 Very fruity, vanilla, increasingly more spice, balanced, sweeter and sweeter on the palate over time. Lots of bourbon influence. 8.5 pts. 2nd Chairmans Rum&Co Comparatively more fruit, especially cherry. Vanilla and sweet finish. 8.7 pts. 3rd Chairmans 2008, Rhumattitude Completely different, lots of bourbon influence and even more coconut! Resembles a Foursquare or Belize rum. 81 pts. 4th Chairmans Excellencerhum See astringent, lots of herbs, wood, fruit in the finish. 87 pts.

The motto of the Community Tasting in Nuremberg was the big cross-testing of the Chairman's bottlings. First of all, I liked them all. Until then, I only knew the Kirsch and Perola bottlings. I was surprised that the flavor profiles were so different and that none of them were really bad, but none of them really stood out from the others either. But when you see what you get for your money at Chairman's, I have to say it's really great. I will probably expand my collection in this area without a guilty conscience.

That I would ever prefer a pure Vendome to a John Dore or because of me a mix of Vendome & John Dore, I would not have thought possible. But with this rum it is so. What a flavor monster! What a powerful finish that goes on for ages! And all for little more than a hundred bucks. Phew, I guess I'll have to rethink my rating of the Chairman's I've tasted so far. And have to get me a bottle of this rum. That is as certain as the Amen in the church.

#4653 10.03.2024 Relaxing at bit at home while my wife is out with a friend. Nose Intense, wood, roasted, medicinal, plum, light cherry, light mint. Palate Intense, wood, roasted, dried fruit, earthy, medicinal, tannins, light mint. Finish Long and warm, wood, roasted, light cherry, mint, faint chocolate. Draws really nice curtains in the glass. The empty glass has light caramel and a hint of iodine.

Wonderfully intense and perfectly matured rum. Wood (good), a bit of rubber and medicinal menthol with burnt sugar, leather, spices, and an elegant bitterness. Fruit rather little.

Sample finished.😋 Starts slightly woody on the nose but quickly accessible and brings an intense cherry on the palate. Maybe I should have grabbed a bottle. Great price at release 🫣 Really great St. Lucia rum, wonderfully aromatic at a fair price. Rumundco caught a good fish and I'm curious to compare with other SC from St. Lucia.

Insanely exciting old Chairman's from the Vendome Still. Dried mango and guava, as well as glue and menthol meet baking spices, acacia honey and roasted nuts with slight earthy and vegetal notes and subtle tannins. Really a well-rounded thing and super complex, balanced and tasty!

Very very nice Chairman’s at a fair price. The rum has a nice herbal note, which is rather unusual for me in Saint Lucia. The mint-menthol note is wonderfully captured by pleasant plum and cherry notes.

Exceptional nose you want to linger on for a long time. Very complex and at the same time balanced, although some esters still resonate despite the long aging! Strongly bitter in the mouth, darkly tart, hints of "dirt", menthol, which seems a bit unbalanced to me. Unfortunately, the rum does not fully convince me to give it a 9/10 rating. Looking forward to another tasting and high complexity is there, but still a bit unbalanced on the palate.

Chairman’s tasting with 3x Vendome (Evanius Harris, RMW, Rum&Co), 1x Vendome & John Dore Blend (Nectar) and 2x John Dore (Kirsch, Rum Exchange). The Vendome bottlings are a bit dirtier and medicinal, the John Dore fruitier. Of the Vendome, Evanius Harris was the most harmonious for me. Among the John Dore, Rum Exchange would have won if it weren’t so woody (best on the nose), so I liked Kirsch better. Overall, the No. 1 was the Nectar, which combined the best of both styles, mild, tasty and perfectly matured. Here the alcohol was too dominant compared to Evanius Harris.

today the R&C bottling from the Vendome pot still competes against the cherry, which comes from the John Dore 2. The first thing that stands out is that the R&C is significantly darker. This is probably due to the longer storage (18 yrs vs 13 yrs). On the nose, the two are also very different: the R&C with polish, floral notes, caramel and a slight medicinal tinge, while the Kirsch is more on the garage notes and (sour-fermented) red fruits (reminiscent of Grand Aromes). On the palate, both play pretty much on the charred wood-dirty tar keyboard. The differences here are minor. The bottom line is that I like the cherry profile a bit more.

The third Chairman's in today's tasting. It is by far not as fruity as the others, but really good! More on the woody spicy side. In the finish, some fruit does appear. A cherry note spreads long and pleasant

I have no recollection of purchasing this sample. If someone included this in package for me: thank you 😊 This is only my second Chairman’s Reserve, the first one wasn’t bad but this one is on another level. The nose is extremely nice, woody, roasted, some spices and tobacco. The mouth has more of the same with some medicinal notes. I will definitely seek out more Chairman’s in the future.

On aeration, tropical fruits like banana, are out, slight smokiness and menthol. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is intense, but tasty with spicy roasted wood, menthol and esters, delicious tropical fruits like guava, banana, dried fruits and cherries, creamy with butterscotch, slightly salty.The molasses brings tobacco and sap. 8,6:The finish is long, tannic, barrel impact is strong, ss we find toasted coconut, roasted wood notes like leather, slight smokiness, baking spices.There is some menthol, bananas and cherries.

First RumX meeting. A woody and dark nose of Guyanese type with old varnished wood, dried fruits, lots of dried fruits, and a soft fermented side. A dark, woody, very woody palate, old varnished wood. But the dried fruits are not far off, with a fermented vegetal side often found in rums from Saint Lucia. A rather long finish, very woody with a pastry side I hadn't noticed before.

An incredibly intense nose awaits you. With influences of glue, pastry and menthol. In the mouth, cherry and lots of wood come in. It is overall extremely long in the finish with some honey. Overall a great St. Lucia. A very complex rum that is fun.

Very nice release with a high degree of maturation. For fans of long-aged, dark rums, an absolute no-brainer at the retail price; personally, I miss a bit of counterbalance from fruit aromas or similar. Still, of course, a rum on a very high level, combining intensity and complexity. Edit: After the second bottle, I have to raise my rating here: What a great balanced, complex rum. It has almost become my “house rum” as it wonderfully combines complexity and easy drinkability. It's a complete mystery to me why bottles of this PLV monster are still available on the primary market; I'm just grateful and keep buying more.

It's crazy!! What complexity, top! Fruity, woody, spicy, menthol... all of a great one. Cherry, plum or mirabelle? In summary, my tasting notes: On the nose: roasted, ester, menthol, rubber, glue. On the palate: cherry, fruity, ester, woody, spicy, intense, tobacco, tannins, menthol. The finish rather oriented towards: woody, cherry, menthol, hard astringent.

A rum with an extremely dark color that says a lot about the 18 years of aging it underwent. The nose is ample, concentrated on dark notes of dark chocolate, roasted hazelnuts, burnt sugar, tobacco, roasted wood and spices. Dried fruits (raisin), cherry and black berries accentuate the dark side but make it very elegant and round on the nose. A medicinal and esterified touch adds complexity. A rich and intense but subtle profile despite the age. The palate profile is very interesting. Roasted wood, tobacco and spices (chili, pepper, vanilla) bring character. Cherry and raisins add a pleasant fruity touch, but it is burnt sugar, chocolate and nuts (hazelnut and coconut) that soften the profile. The oily, almost syrupy texture is very pleasant in the mouth. The aftertaste is drier and tannic with medicinal notes in the background. The alcohol is present but well integrated in this old but still vigorous profile. The finish is very long and dry, staying on bitterness, leather, tobacco, dark wood and spices. You find dried fruits, cherry, burnt sugar and dark chocolate in this heavy and powerful mass that coats the palate. A complex, intense and particularly dark profile for the house, far from being a woody juice but stronger than other vintages with a more "colorful" profile.

From the very first moment in the glass, this Chairman's Reserve radiates a sublime maturity, which gains more and more complexity with prolonged exposure to air. Thanks to the 18 years of aging, the complex rum has noticeably settled down, even though the oak initially really asserts itself on the palate. Once again, a very nice Saint Lucia!

Today again after a long time a Chairman in the glass and I must say I really like this one. Both on the nose and on the palate intense rusty notes. While the ester is still present on the nose, the cherry notes come out clearly on the palate. The alcohol is in my opinion very well integrated. Really strong rum from St Lucia!

On the nose many "dark" aromas. The wood is very smoky, plus medicinal herbs and glue. Over time sweeter and fruitier. On the palate then the typical Chairman's herbs/tobacco and tannins. Some bitterness remains.

The best amongst my small homemade lineup. Tasty and lively, the nose is excellent between tropical fruits and leather, with a marshmallow side very intriguing that drinking is confirmed. Really a nice rum, even if in my memory the RumX selection was even better

I was at the beginning of ls not sure whether I should buy the, after meanwhile felt every lottery store ne own Master Selection brings out and rum and co there feels like you would buy nen Lafite Rothschild at Aldi.At 18 years Vendome I had to try but necessarily and I am enormously positively surprised.I find, in terms of complexity is the really close to the Grape of the Art bottling, but you notice that the sour flaoral Jhon Dore flavors are missing.For very much wood, vanilla, tobacco and leather and a beautifully long finish with spices something like cinnamon, clove, pepper.One takes the alcohol already clearly perceived, but I find him taste very coherent / round.Also the color is hammer - so right dark brown / red mahogany wood.All in all a really cool rum

Very nice nose of mint, chocolate, light barrel aromas, dried fruits. Taste is very smooth with mint, nuts, chocolate, a bit of red fruits, also dried fruits, slightly woody. Great complexity, intensity, and depth. Finish is medium to long. A very, very good rum.

Nose: ah, St. Lucia... freshly cut pine wood, resin, olive brine, salted caramel in the back, some esters showing up. pretty unique profile from a pretty unique island. Mouth: like chewing on the christmas tree... some tar, intense and compact. alcoholic sting very restrained in this one (imho the only weak point to most Chairman's). finish: stays with you. on that resiny-tary note. Lovely! At 110€ for 18 years excellent value for money.

Great nose with red fruits and leather. On the palate then quite fruity, a nice Amarena cherry, the "dirty" notes like leather and workshop more in the background. Alcohol wonderfully integrated despite around 60%. Really a great drop, especially for under 100€, which I got the bottle for. Price/enjoyment hit! Many thanks to Mariano56 for this recommendation!
