Wu Dram Clan Long Pond Jamaican Rum LPS 2001
Anyone already into Jamaican pot-still funk will feel at home here. This 22-year Long Pond from Wu Dram Clan leads with esters, tropical fruit and a lot of banana, plus a buttery honey-marzipan sweetness up front. The palate turns spicy and a touch astringent, with licorice and anise. Despite 56.3%, several tasters say you barely notice the alcohol — warmth shows mostly in the long finish.
- Integrated alcohol
- Banana and esters
- Long warm finish

The anticipation was huge.... Nose ...esters, butyric acid, citrus, cherry ,pineapple, banana. Slight peppery notes .Palate...clearly less fruity than the nose promises at first almost flat .... with the linger in the mouth then but gradually aromas come to light .... Citrus, banana beautiful wood notes and some butyric acid . Bitterness picks up a bit in the mouth but not disturbing. Beautiful LPS which could not quite meet my expectations.

I can only recommend like we did, no phones allowed and then only music in the background 😊 Colour Medium dark. Nose Intense, light wood, ester, fruity, banana, overripe, spices, light anise. Palate Medium intense, round, balanced, oily, fruity, overripe, light banana, faint chocolate, medium spicy, ester, light anise. Finish Very long and warm, wood, faint smoke, fruity, ester, medium spicy, light anise, light raisin. Empty glass Vanilla, light chocolate, fruits, light pineapple, faint varnish. Needs to rest for a while to really settle properly.

Nice LPS that starts light and has a long finish. Great long pond nose. The 56% is hit perfectly and the rum gets better and better. The finish is incredibly long and intense. A great rum. Great PLV for today's times, availability of course difficult with only 100 bottles.

Comes across quite relaxed on the nose, a bit like a HD LROK, spicy, orange (like Tic Tac Orange), cake, underpinned with a fermented fruit ester note. Bacon-spicy on the palate, slightly salty out the back. On occasion comes then again the comparison with the Duchess....

Wehleidig I look back on the legendary Albrecht LPS... for then around the 28€ the bottle... priced this one can not keep up there, but the times have unfortunately also changed. What about the quality then? Nose: fine esters with vinegar underpinned at the start, plus yellow lemon with orange and cherry. A slight honey sweetness resonates. Then it gets a bit spicier, with a hint of black pepper, some smoke and very little bacon. Behind everything, yogurt or mild cheese are still hiding. All unobtrusive and subtle and thus very pleasant. 8.7Palate: a nice flavor curve with a distinct peak. Astringent and bitter at the start, salty, peppery with a coarse licorice note. Immediately behind that, "spiky" metallic and citrus notes that immediately flatten out with esters and a bit of vinegar, settling into a slightly sour metallic. Behind that is room for finer anise and -no not wood, rather cardboard. There's also a slight smoky, spicy nuance here now. Each sip obviously a bit more. Nice medium-long finish. 8.7You can clearly tell here that this is a nicely matured, adult Jamaican. Which comes along with balanced, medium ester content and very well-integrated alcohol. Fun to drink.

Cool LPS. For me, not quite on the level of the Sample X / Duchess. Ingenious bottling.

Fügle me no longer attracted to LP, since I was allowed to taste the TECA and the TECC, but this rum could rekindle my love, so mild and balanced to the point he comes along. There I was with the condemnation because of me far too astringent esters probably a bit hasty, LP has so much more to offer. The alcohol itself one notices as good as not, only as heat in the long finish. Yes, the rum really has something, and I am very grateful to Leo for the sample.Cheers!

I'm starting my LongPond tasting series today with the WuDram. The nose is pleasant with a light ester, a subtle fruity note (orange/lemon) and a slight hint of honey. The whole appears round and balanced. The palate is light and soft with a marzipan sweetness that first gives way to a brief fruitiness and then develops into spice (salt, licorice, aniseed). A little bacon and young wood are also added. The finish is medium-long with similar spices, some marzipan and subtle bitter notes. A very good, pleasing bottling.

Jamaica ohne Hampden Tasting: passt einfach. Geile abfüllung zum pur trinken und als wahrscheinlich auch als Mixer. Geile Früchte, Ester, etwas vergorenes, eine Prise Honig und junges Holz. Alkohol Klasse eingebunden.

Sehr guter Long Pond, dem vielleicht etwas Komplexität und Fruchtigkeit fehlt.

Solid LPS with great PLV and modest availability. Typical LPS esters, some plastic and fruit, loooong finish and alcohol very well integrated. Really good LP, but lacks some complexity that would be needed for a higher rating in my view.

Wow, even on the nose this is a really great Jamaican for me, incredibly round with lots of tropical fruit and candied pineapple. Even better on the palate, very well balanced between tropical and candied fruit and a thick but elegant sweetness. The finish is of medium length, with toffee adding to the candied pineapple. For me, this is the best and most drinkable Long Pond LPS I've tasted so far. A really great cask selection from WDC!

Fruity and strong with very good PLV

Ein sehr leckeres Teil. Alkohol perfekt eingebunden.

Meets exactly my taste and in addition the alcohol is perfectly integrated.very good LPS!
