#6229 12.01.2026 Relaxing with a few samples after 75 km ln my turbo trainer. Nose Light wood, light roasted, light chocolate, coconut, cinnamon, pineapple. Palate Oily, round, wood, light roasted, pineapple, cinnamonm, faint smoke, orange, light chocolate. Finish Medium long, wood, light roasted, light cherry, orange, light chocolate. Empty glass Vanilla, chocolate, pineapple, cherry, faint smoke.

My first thought was Foursquare, as there's quite a bit of coconut noticeable. Well, I was wrong. It's also slightly toasty, woody, and chocolaty. But the alcohol isn't well integrated; I would have guessed a higher ABV.

🥃💀 WEEKEND BOTTLE KILL! 💀🥃 Elizabeth Yard – Travellers 2006 – 16 years – 49.47% This weekend, heading to Belize with a bottle you don’t come across every day! Behind this juice, we find the Travellers distillery, but especially a 2006 vintage that spent a long 16 years in cask (including 3 tropical years) before finishing its run at the Scottish independent bottler Elizabeth Yard. And they didn’t just bottle it... 👉 This Single Cask received a finish in American Oak Char Octave, in other words a small heavily toasted/charred American oak barrel, to push the wood influence even further. Only 96 bottles were drawn from this release. 🥃 And in the glass? It’s clearly the indulgent style of Travellers: vanilla, chocolate, caramel, a strong wood presence, spices, and that round, pastry-like side that makes Belize particularly easy to drink. The 49.47% is perfectly on point: enough power to give relief, without ever needing to bring out the helmet and bulletproof vest. Not the most exuberant rum on the planet, not an ester bomb... but a mature, indulgent, woody Travellers, terribly effective on the coconut. It was nice, without being flamboyant, it makes room in the bar to open a new bottle...
