One taster clocked it as "green apples and white chocolate" over tart citrus peels, and that's the character — a monovarietal yellow-cane agricole blanc that's fresh, grassy and floral up top, then turns peppery and lemon-zest bitter on the palate. Surprisingly soft and oily for 51%, with a long warm finish. A few wanted more fruit and pep; most found it fine work.

#4137 Another great release from Pere Labat. This one with a slightly different profile from the other whites. Fruity and floral with a spicy and lightly dry palate. Very long and warm finish. Price to quality is very good in my mind.

Not really a bottle I like. As much as I was surprised by the "les mangles" cuvée, what bothered me here is the too alcoholic nose, which closed it off quite a bit. Too much spicy and mineral on the palate. Maybe I missed something...

👃 = la canne jaune is very fragrant with yellow fruits, fresh white flowers, and vanilla. 👄 = the alcohol is well integrated, sweet, oily, peppery with lemon more present and a rather vegetal finish.

Like Bologne and its famous Canne Noire, Père Labat tried the exercise of an unaged single-variety rum, this time in yellow cane, known to be as high quality as difficult (low yield, fibrous...). The nose tends to confirm the quality of the raw material, with fresh, herbal and floral accents supporting a very fruity profile on citrus (lemon zest) and tropical fruits (passion fruit). Sugar and pepper enhance this profile which aims to be fragrant and very elegant. A treat for lovers of agricole rum. On the palate, the symphony continues with the same notes: exotic fruits go perfectly with peppery notes and agricultural greenery to offer an intense, rich and soft mouthfeel. The yellow cane confirms here its status as an ultra-premium and exclusive cane with this juicy and complex cuvée. The alcohol is superbly well integrated. The finish is long, tasty and nicely rounded. The aromas become more tonic with vegetal, spicy, honeyed and slightly alcoholic influences. The profile becomes drier and more bitter but retains a varied aromatic spectrum. A very nice premium white rum worth discovering.

On this bottling I was very excited because I had never heard of yellow sugar cane, let alone an agricole bottling from only yellow sugar cane! On the nose super intense passion fruit and some pepper. On the palate, the acidity of the passion fruit is still there but is masked by licorice and some tart eucalyptus. I would have liked a little more fruit, yet an exciting new agricole blanc, but does not meet my expectations 100%.

The nose is very nice, very citrusy, kumquat, orange, grapefruit, very vegetal freshness, but the palate is a little salty, and it becomes a little bitter on that grapefruit that remains, borderline astringent. Not my favorite.

A little disappointed by this bottle. The aftertaste is phenomenal, long and warm, and the nose is welcoming, but the palate is really not that great. It's definitely lacking in pizzazz, and what's worse, it reminds me a little of supermarket whites like the cheap Dillon 50. All that said, it's not a total catastrophe, it's pleasant overall, but for a 76€ white wine, you've got the right to expect more.

The nose is pleasant, with sugarcane, vegetables, corn, dried (roasted) fruit and some congeners. The palate is delicate but solid, with notes of roasted nuts and a little citrus and pepper. Very good in its simplicity, although a higher abv would have helped. In the empty glass ester/cheese

Very fresh nose on vegetal and earthy, still some indulgence and a touch of fruit eau-de-vie. Fresh and strangely soft on the palate for 51 degrees! Very spicy attack on earth and a bitterness that reminds of lime zest. All very balanced. Finish on a slight bitterness.

Tasted at RF 2023, so a brief tasting... A total delight, vegetal, with sugar-coated cane. A strong Biscuit note, rare for a white rum. A fine white. Still, the price is high...
