A very nice 2009 NY, again. Feels a bit more woody and herbal notes forwards than some sister casks having a limited side-by-side in the glas with Rum Aresanal and Wild Parrot. Thanks for the sample, Tobi :)

As a confessed NY fan, I'm a bit disappointed here. The typical notes are there: tropical fruits, esters that are neither harsh nor sour, minimal herbs and wood. The whole is quite round, but unfortunately also not very exciting and not particularly complex. An entry-level NY, if you disregard the price and availability.

Franconian Tasting Gang on 02.03.2024 For me as a New Yarmouth junkie, again a very good bottling from the 2009 vintage. Thanks to Tobi for providing it. From memory, I find the Perola bottling a notch better. But that's complaining at a high level.

A very good NY, quite complex, but it doesn't come close to its sister cheeses

Tasted against the CDI for Perola (rx13284) ... both from samples. bar Lamp freshly opened bottle, Perola already a bit in the cupboard. The two are very similar and at almost the same high level. I would let the nose pass as a draw, but on the palate the Perola has the edge for me: it is somewhat warmer, fatter and fuller-bodied. The Bar Lamp is no less intense, but its character is just a little brighter. Kind of like a lamp with an adjustable color temperature ... the Perola is a little more cosy and I like that better today (yes, it could also be the weather) Many thanks to Tobi (Buddudharma / Mariano) for the sample

Tried it at Bar Lamp. The 2009 batch is just great all around, and this one is no exception. Very close to the sister casks from Perola etc., really good! Edit: After a direct comparison with two sister casks, I have to make a slight downward correction. Although the alcohol is perfectly integrated, the overall profile is somewhat flatter and less complex. Still a nice rum.

I'm slowly becoming a NY fan. Today is already the second NY that tastes great to me. Can go on like this. On the nose, it could have been anything else (very floral...almost like a young Long Pond "Light" with a low ester content). The taste was then really cool. Alcohol is well integrated
