I think this is a great Beenleigh. It is fruity and floral on the nose, wood is also noticeable. On the palate we have dark chocolate. Also very roasty this rum, and on the finish I can also detect some mint.

The quokka on the label is quite cute even though the bottle looks very plain. Taste-wise I find this rum very far from what is stated on the back; neither PX nor oloroso sherry do I really find in the nose or mouth. It's a mix of spices, herbs and wood but no fruity or nutty notes as usually expected with sherry. Not really my thing.

#4575 26-27.01.2024 Hanse Spirit This rum has a good price to quality. A nice Australian rum with a funny history Notes Light wood, faint smoke, fruit, light glue, marzipan. Palate Light wood, faint smoke, sweet, light glue, herbs, mint, faint marzipan. Finish Medium long, wood, dried fruit, light mint, marzipan.

Different from the 6.1 in the calendar, this one fills the palate with dark fruits and wonderful woody aromas. Also much higher abv, with the alcohol much better integrated here, though not perfect. 60% abv tip: 12 years

There's a lot of sherry plastered on the taste buds here. For me, not always recognizable as rum. There are exotic whiskies from e.g. India or Scandinavia that deliver similar profiles. It drinks really well and has no off-notes, but has a rather short finish and over time is almost a bit too sticky-sweet, which with the herbal notes of sage, plantain and mint sometimes reminds of a malty caramel herbal candy.

I was actually really looking forward to this bottling as an easy sipping Australian.... But the sherry finish and the overall very short maturation time are unfortunately rather disappointing. Wood, incense, toasty wood and lots of dried fruit and pear/raisin from the clearly too dominant sherry finish. Could also be much rounder.... I had hoped for more.

Australia Advent Calendar 2025 (6.2). A less sweet nose, more fermented vegetal than RX23458, I sense the influence of sherry casks. Dried fruits and raisins and a slight acetone complete the profile. The palate is soft, aromatic with raisins and yellow fruits, fermented vegetal and sherry cask. The aromas are a bit masked by the slight acetone on the nose which is confirmed here. The finish is along the same lines, moderately long with a more marked sweetness.

Tried at Hanse Spirit 2024 I think Beenleigh just isn't quite my profile. Just because of the label, I'd like to have a bottle, but I'd probably reach for it too rarely. For me as a sipper, it's probably a bit too roasted over time and the nail polish smell here also has something that I like a bit less than in other bottlings with a similar note.

It is a very specific rum. I'm not exactly a big fan of Australia, but here I discovered such a portion of herbs that I don't remember where else there was so much. Even in the nose, I feel something I used to smell at my grandmother's garden. In the taste, the herbs develop even more. I like that. Unfortunately, it lacks maturity and would need a higher ABV.

Arturs Advent Calendar Australia #6.2: better than Nikolausrum 6.1 with noticeable wood, spices, nuts, and dried fruits in nose and finish. The finish is quite simple with wood and caramel. Alcohol integration is okay.

Storing it in my cellar did the rum good🙃 Less sweet than expected, but thicker than thought. In the first half, briefly some roasted notes, a hint of chocolate and wood come through, then it quickly shifts to broad fruitiness, light raisin and fig and juicy fruit. Then it moves towards pear brandy, more sherry and a touch of floral notes. Somehow I like this rum, a glass now and then is totally fine.

Less sweet than I had expected based on the other reviews. You can taste the sherry very slightly, but for me the spice with some banana and chocolate predominates. Quite interesting, but maybe it could have aged a few more years. Overall a quite rounded thing, but nothing super extraordinary. However, good for the price.

Australia Advent calendar from Artur: Interesting profile, wood, tart sweetness from dried fruits and chocolate, nuts, kitchen spices, a bit of smoke. Shows subtle maturity on the finish but remains inviting and very accessible.

Wow, this is new! Never had some rum with this kind of flavour and smell... Intriguing. Not sure I like it for daily sipping, but it is tasty nonetheless. Herbal, sweet, fruity... More complex than I first thought.

On the nose, you can still recognize a bit of the Beenleigh profile. On the palate then much overlaid by the Oloroso and PX Cask Finish. But then very fruity and sweet, although less sweet than feared. Who likes it. There are clearly worse in the price segment.

Very pleasant rum from the Beenleigh distillery. On the nose a fruity note, which is replaced by sherry. On the palate the typical Australian notes which are replaced by sherry at the end. The alcohol is very nicely integrated.

Rate 7.4 Tasted a while ago. Can’t remember when. 31-07-2025 - Rate 7.3 Have tasted a few different Beenleigh bottles these past few years. This one is nether between the best or the worst. Somewhere in the middle. Notes of glue, methanol, herbal and wood. Palate is wood/oak, hint of sherry, resin and glue. Finish is medium dominated by methanol and spices.

Admittedly: 50% of the purchase decision here was the label. I stand by it. Love it.The other 50% were curiosity. Australians are known to me so far as quite edgy - so I was interested in how the barrels affect here.In the nose comes from which also directly very much through. Raisins, fig, sherry and fruitiness full. Quite juicy fruit schnapps, glue.On the palate, a refreshingly different picture emerges. Less sweet than expected, but thicker than expected. While in the first half briefly toasty approaches, a touch of chocolate and wood sloshing up the whole changes quite quickly to broad fruitiness, light raisin and fig and juicy fruit. After that it moves towards pear brandy, more sherry and a hint of floral notes.Somewhere around here the finish sets in which definitely has spiciness but a really pleasant mouthfeel. Less alcohol, more approaches of menthol.For me a hit, I like it. Who stands on sherry stories can strike here without hesitation.
