Rum drinkers curious about Caroni who prefer gentle, smoky notes without the usual high-proof punch; great for those moving up from standard 40% molasses rums.

Tasting a few Caronis from Bristol. The only Caroni from 2003 had to be tasted. The nose is totally Caroni, with tar, caramel and wood, but also lime and a clear vegetal side. All in all, a fine nose. The palate is acqueous, marked by dilution. Fruit, machine shop and vegetal aromas need to be sought out. The length is average and clearly too short for a Caroni. A fine rum, with plenty of drinkability, but the dilution has made it far too thin for my taste. A pity for the only example from the 2003 vintage. Tasted again and the high dilution is clearly its weak point.

Tasted by a friend. Very good, I love Caroni! Didn't feel the sherry barrel aging. Too light.

This is a great example of why rum should not be watered down. Most of the profile is a mere ghost of what it could have been.

Top Einsteiger Caroni mit bestem PLV. Mit mehr % wäre das ein hammer Rum.

Bristol Caroni comparison: weak start, clearly woodier and a few extra fruits compared to Felicitas. Develops much better at the end, more wood and a nice medium-long finish. With more abv it would be a great rum

Pleasantly surprised by a rather nice Caroni nose despite the low ABV - somewhat bolstered by the sherry finish I guess. The rest is basically a classic disappointing watered-down-low-ABV Caroni feel. Again somewhat supported by the finish, lifting this one above other 40% Bristols.

is on par with the '98 Bristol Classic for me, and well above the Felicite. The woody, toasty notes from the oak/sherry barrel aging compensate well for the low ABV.

Just the thing for a relaxing summer evening! Tomorrow I can also fight again with the heavy guys. But today it's the turn of a lightweight. Is really fun! 🤗

A relatively simple but very effective caroni!

Really good, if it should be a straightforward Caroni. 🥃

Not the best Caroni i ever tried but still a good one. Very gentle at 40%.

The nose with some rubber, tar and dried fruit was actually quite inviting, but in the mouth the first thing you think of is watered down and the finish is really just tea. The same rum would be interesting with higher alc. Content interesting.

Just the smoke component makes this rum stand out from the crowd, both aromatically and taste, very interesting

A little thin, but tasty has not bad! Reminiscent of the 98 vintage!
