If you like your Jamaicans quiet, this pale 24-year Clarendon is an easy evening sipper more than a bruiser. Pear, yellow fruits and a little vanilla sit over soft oak, with the nutty, faintly roasted EMB character showing up late. Several members love the nose but find the palate thin and a touch spritzy — most wish it carried more punch at this age.

This is a very elegant Clarendon that is good for sipping in the evening. No intense aromas, but still all those of a good Clarendon present. Despite the low ABV, the full range of aromas is present.

Gentle Clarendon... mild fruit notes with apple, mandarins, and citrus fruits, light wood notes. Despite dilution, somewhat alcoholic on the palate... I find the nose really nice, but the palate definitely falls off. Still nice to have tried it.

For its age, a very pale rum. My impression on the nose is also quite reserved. A bit of everything but in comparatively low intensity. On the palate, I notice the low alcohol content. Otherwise not much going on, a little yellow fruit and barrel notes, slightly bitter. Hardly any floral notes left. The aftertaste is not versatile and I mainly find a slight bitterness, barrel notes and spice. Hmm, I expected more. Still a good rum.

Very light Clarendon, rather in the category of Easy Sipper. Not really bad, but also not a real highlight. For the age, I would have expected a bit more. A higher ABV would definitely have been an advantage here.

Due to the high age, I am a bit disappointed. In the glass it looks more like a white wine. All typical Jamaican aromas are present, but all very weak and not very intense. I think with higher ABV more would have been possible. However, the nose of the empty glass the next morning is nice. Much more intense than in the evening WITH rum in the glass.

Without knowing it better this also be a plum based spirit. Maybe with a Jamaican cask finish :) It’s fruity (plums, pears and yellow fruits) with some spices and a bit of wood. Not overly complex but still quite drinkable.

The nose is clearly better than the palate. There the bottling is slightly watery, somewhat fruity (citrus fruits) and a bit woody. Maybe the expectations were too high, but I found the bottling unfortunately disappointing.

Clarendon 97, this combo has recently caused some attention again and certainly competed with its two years older brothers. I actually quite like this bottling and it shows a clear EMB character. Comparatively fruity and almost a bit floral, the nutty and slightly roasted notes of this mark only come into play at the end. Overall, this bottling unfortunately lacks some strength, so the actually nice character doesn’t really come through. With higher proof, it would definitely be a strong piece, but for me, it only reaches a "good" middle ground as is.

Solid Jamaican with typical notes of tropical fruits, some esters. But it lacks body and therefore the rum tastes very thin, leaving no lasting impression. Maybe more something to get into Jamaican rum.
