High Spirits Collection Clarendon Fine Old Jamaica Rum 1997
If you like your Jamaicans quiet, this pale 24-year Clarendon is an easy evening sipper more than a bruiser. Pear, yellow fruits and a little vanilla sit over soft oak, with the nutty, faintly roasted EMB character showing up late. Several members love the nose but find the palate thin and a touch spritzy — most wish it carried more punch at this age.

Clarendon 97, diese Kombi hat zuletzt immer mal wieder für Aufmerksamkeit gesorgt und den zwei Jahre älteren Brüdern durchaus Konkurrenz gemacht. Auch diese Abfüllung gefällt morneigentlich ganz gut und zeigt einen deutlichen EMB-Charakter. Vergleichsweise fruchtig und fast ein bisschen floral, kommen die nussigen und leicht röstigen Noten dieses Marks erst hinten raus zur Geltung. Insgesamt fehlt dieser Abfüllung aber leider auch etwas Kraft, sodass der eigentlich schöne Charakter nicht recht zur Geltung kommen will. Mit mehr Umdrehungen durchaus ein starkes Stück, so reicht es für mich allerdings nur für ein „gutes“ Mittelmaß.

Das ist ein sehr eleganter Clarendon der gut zum Sippen am Abend passt. Keine intensiven Aromen, aber dennoch alle eines guten Clarendon vorhanden. Trotz des niedrigen ABV die komplette Aromenvielfalt vorhanden

Without knowing it better this also be a plum based spirit. Maybe with a Jamaican cask finish :) It’s fruity (plums, pears and yellow fruits) with some spices and a bit of wood. Not overly complex but still quite drinkable.

Für sein Alter sehr blasser Rum. Mein Eindruck an der Nase ist ebenfalls recht zurückhaltend. Von allem etwas aber in vergleichsweise geringer Intensität. Am Gaumen merke ich den geringen Alkoholgehalt. Sonnst ist nicht viel los, ein wenig gelbe Früchte und Fassnoten, leicht bitter. Kaum noch blumig. Der Nachklang ist nicht vielseitig und ich finde hauptsächlich eine leichte Bitterkeit, Fassnoten und Würze. Hmm, da hatte ich mehr erwartet. Trotzdem ein guter Rum.

Sehr leichter Clarendon eher in der Kategorie Easy Sipper einzuordnen. Nicht wirklich schlecht, aber auch kein wirkliches Highlight. Für das Alter hätte ich ein bißchen mehr erwartet. Ein höher ABV wäre hier bestimmt von Vorteil gewesen.

Aufgrund des hohen Alters bin ich schon ein wenig enttäuscht. Im Glas schaut er eher aus wie ein Weißwein. Es sind zwar alle typischen jamaicanischen Aromen zu finden, aber alles sehr schwach und wenig intensiv. Ich denke mit höherem ABV wäre mehr drin gewesen. Schön ist allerdings die Nase des leeren Glases am nächsten Morgen. Wesentlich intensiver als am Abend MIT Rum im Glas.

Sanfter Clarendon... milde Fruchtnotes mit Apfel Mandarinen und Zitrusfrüchten , leichte Holznoten . Trotz Verdünnung etwas sprittig am Gaumen ... Nase finde ich schon wirklich nice allerdings fällt der Gaumen doch deutlich ab . Trotzdem schön ihn probiert zu haben.

Solider Jamaikaner mit den typischen Noten von tropischen Früchten, etwas Estern. Dem Ganzen fehlt es aber an Körper und daher schmeckt der Rum sehr dünn, ohne bleibenden Eindruck zu hinterlassen. Vielleicht eher was, um sich an Jamaika Rum heranzutasten.
