A rum tasted at Whisky Live in Paris in 2024. A clearly Caroni nose with wood, mechanical workshop notes (tar, gasoline, rubber), umami, and fruit in the form of dried fruit. The palate is immediately complex with spices, wood, roast, and a strong mechanical workshop vibe with petrol and tar. The finish is long with a smoky side and a slight menthol. The empty glass is superb with chocolate, a slight smokiness, and coffee that was hinted at on the palate.

Caroni profile, petroleum, close to Beast ... Caroni is a Trinidadian distillery, producing rum that was added at a 1:10 ratio to a navy blend at the height of its fame. It was too strong and strange to be pleasant on the tongue. In 2000, the distillery ceased production and closed. Only in 2010 did tasters appear who took a liking to the rum because of its special taste. And the interest grew. Caroni belongs to the category of "you need to try before you die" rums. I recommend it, Caroni is a truly unique rum.

#4853 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Round, complex, wood, light roasted, faint floral, spices, faint chocolate, light anise, faint tar, petrol, faint fruits. Palate Round, complex, wood, light roasted, faint smoke, light anise, light mint, petrol, light tar, faint coffee, light chocolate, faint fruits. Finish Long, wood, faint smoke, light mint, fruits, cinnamon, light citrus, faint tar. Also a very good release but again the price tag it way over the quality.
