Epic Velier Caroni Tasting 2023: Together with cask #5613, the best Caroni for me ever. A bit more subtle on the nose, on the palate with the full flavor package of the Guyana stock HTR Caronis: vanilla, caramel, oak wood, fresh mint, dried tropical fruits, plus the dirty HTR aromas. It doesn’t get any better than this. The absolute highlight of the tasting and for me the absolute peak of the Caroni Veliers.

Egg, what an awesome piece, now the new best rated rum on my part :-) The nose has great Caroni notes, tar, rubber and tobacco. On the palate also typical Caroni, tobacco, tar and very intense. Thanks Mitch for getting me this absolute highlight. Let's see which rum cracks the 10.0 ;-)

Eerily complex nose (2nd among all Caronis tasted) and perfection emerges on the palate. It's all there: outstanding Caroni DNA and pure elegance. On the palate, my number 1 from the entire Velier Caroni range.

Tasting #1000 🥃et with Artur. A powerful yet elegant and fresh nose. A deep, complex nose. A machine shop nose with freshness and fruit. A nose that never stops evolving and therefore a nose of anthology! On the palate, it's a firework display of flavors and aromas, but always with elegance, freshness and, above all, balance. Complex spices with red pepper, ripe, fresh tropical fruit, machine shop that gives extreme depth. An immense breadth of aromas, incredible complexity and great depth. The finish is very long and perfectly balanced. What more could you ask for? The rum Perfect!

#4901 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Wood, light roasted, balanced, light tar, light tobacco, fruits, light cherry, spice, light floral, light mango. Palate Medium intense, balanced, wood, light roasted, light fruits, oily, light olive, faint salt, light spicy, light orange, faint cherry, faint tar, light pineapple. Finish Long, full, round, balanced. Fruits, faint sugarcane, spice, faint chocolate, faint olive, faint smoke. This is a really good Caroni and it has to be with the price tag that comes with it. If you have the chance, give it a go.

What can I say. Probably the most expensive rum I've ever drunk, but it has a lot going for it. The typical Caroni tar and tobacco on the nose The taste is unbelievable - you get goose bumps all over your body. Incredibly complex. Unbelievable

Wow! Massiv complexity on the nose! The first impression is the typical Caroni notes of rubber, kerosine, polish with caramel and wood (I have my difficulties in smelling them, but hey, here they are), but very decent and wonderfully balanced. After resting a while in the glas, fruity notes evaporate with a dominance on yellow fruits. Flowers, cookies, vanilla. Explosion of the yellow fruits on the palate. I am impressed! These dried apricots knocking at the palate’s door but don’t wait for the door to be opened, the slam it open. Pear 🍐 actually! Brandy, Cognac at normal ABV, alcohol very well integrated. Thought not as complex as on the nose. The cask leaves a slightly adstringt taste and finish. The latter being long and warm, wooden, caramel, rubber. Does Demerara still rules? Yeah! Of course. Why? I miss the richness and depth of my favorite demeraras. They are not all as complex as theses top Caronis, but massive. From my male perspective, a beautiful, perfect model is nice, but when it comes to go upstairs, you want butt and ti** and dirty stuff. Nose 9.6 - Palate 9.2

Perfektes Weihnachts-Frühstück während die Familie einen Weihnachtsfilm schaut … sensationell guter Caroni, dessen Gaumen einfach phänomenal ist. Caroni kommt bei mir hinter Demerara aber das ist schon die Essenz dessen, was Caroni kann – in perfekter Balance, vielschichtig und nicht überlagert.

Absolute top representative of the Caronis. Very typical influences of tar, rubber and a pleasant sweetness. Perfectly balanced and an absolute explosion of flavor in the mouth. It was a pleasure to taste #6.

I had to give it a more time to avoid Iam influenced by its high rating but also to experience full spectrum of this spirit before actual rating. I have tasted it some weeks ago for the first time and decided to add few bottles to my collection immediately. Iam into it now again. This time with intention to explore its full complexity and smooth balance of so many ingredients. My conclusion: my best Caroni so far. Extremely balanced, light tar, light wood, light fruits on the nose. Palate filled with light tar, light spicy, some mango, cherry, well integrated to medium intense experience with looong finish with some chocolate, smoke, pineaple. So balanced and complex! you can try it again and again and discover more and more of it. This is a harmony of best tastes of Caroni in one.
