Thx Gunnar for this cool sample! Nose: Fruits lightly soaked in nail polish/varnish🥃🥃Typical savanna notes mixed with butterscotch, pastries and licorice. Mouth: A width range a fruits with hints of varnish/glue/menthol. Lovely😍 The alcohol and barrel is integrated very well. The finish is quite long woody, mentholy with a dark choclate flakes and a drop of fluid licorice!

A nice rum, in my opinion nothing more unfortunately. In my memory I had much better Savannas in the glass. Unfortunately this one doesn't really convince me. Nice to have tried.

08-11-2025 - Rate 8.7 No way around it. I like Savanna a lot. Keep’s growing on me. Have tasted a lot of their own bottles and also from independent bottlers. This CDI bottle has a fresh/young nose and taste. Think it has been stored some time in France. Nose with glue, methanol tropical fruit and wood/oak. Palate following the nose very nice also with hints of spice and chocolate. A really tasty Savanna, I had to try it now too. It's really good, polish/glue are definitely recognizable here. Otherwise also a bit of dark chocolate and tropical fruits.

8,3:On the nose, medicinal with glue, nail polish, varnish, waxy, intense, slightly pungent with overripe tropical fruits, strawberries, roasted wood notes like chocolate, burnt sugar, spicy with cinnamon, burnt rubber, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, candied fruits, citrus, yellow fruits, banana, pear arise, vegetal, floral molasses, butterscotch, fudge and meaty touch. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is intense, medicinal with glue, menthol, burnt rubber, slightly metallic, roasted wood notes like burnt sugar, dark chocolate, pastry, spicy with allspice, umami, molasses is vegetal with briny olive, chilli, floral and fruits are slightly sour with cherry, strawberry, yellow, citrus fruits, apple and grilled pineapple. 8,3:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, dirty, chemical, rubber is burnt, slightly medicinalwithmenthol, oak is roasted, smoky, spicy, molasses is vegetal, grassy with hay, fruits are cherry, bitter orange, banana..

Surprisingly complex!

Quick update: I normally don’t do this but this thing makes such an incredibly good rum sour that I’m attaching the recipe here: Rum Sour 6 cl this rum 2.25 cl lemon juice 2.25 cl dark sugar syrup 1/2 egg white 2-3 dashes angostura bitters Reverse shake and strain to preferred glass. Tried a daiquiri with it too and its profile is just not built for that. Seriously, try a rum sour with this one. Main review: Nose has cola, vanilla, and butterscotch. This rum greatly benefits from the glass sitting in the sun for a few minutes to release all the flavors. Palate actually delivers on the cola and vanilla while adding some cherry. There is something else very delicate in there almost like heather but it’s very subtle, just out of reach. This is a rum that grows on you greatly. My tastings improved tremendously after decanting the bottle into a carafe and making sure the glass was warmed in the sun for a bit. This is a true tasting rum and you have to really pay attention to get the most out of it. Very glad I did not just have a 3cl sample or I would have completely missed the experience on this one.

Great Savanna tasting with Artur. An exuberant Savanna nose. You find sweetness, but not cloying, vegetal but rather clear than fermented. The entry on the palate is discreet, soft, then the aromas rise and fill everything. The wood, particularly integrated, supports it. The finish is long on cedar wood, overripe yellow fruits, gentle spices at the very end. A beautiful rum, balanced and complex.

Surprisingly good CDI savanna once again for a change at a fair price. Could be a grand arome? Pineapple, strawberry, menthol, marzipan pastry, sour cherry and cherry brandy, as well as bitter orange and some oak and allspice are definitely fun. On the finish it could be a little less astringent and woody bitter but overall really a nice surprise!

It definitely needs time in the glass. Freshly poured, a smell of nail polish remover spreads in the room, which gives way to a spicy fruitiness once it has had air. You can also find that on the palate, pleasant herbs and a slight menthol influence with dark fruits. Very tasty!

Nose: it has been airing for a few minutes, there is a pretty nice combo of "vanilla / varnish / wood". The palate offers more than the nose after all! There is vanilla and wood, pepper, it's warm! There is a good alcoholic kick but it is super well integrated! The finish is very light though, compared to what the nose suggested. And with a bitter aftertaste. That's a shame. I think I need to continue my initiation before fully appreciating it. I mean, it's good but there are plenty of rums I prefer to it for now.

Interesting nose, quite green which makes me think of cut grass with notes of varnished wood like a new shoe tree. Straight attack on the palate. Quite sweet with hints of pineapple. Small downside, the alcohol could be better integrated to my taste. Discreet but quite long finish that leaves me a taste of pineapple.

In love with this distillery and a fan of Compagnie des Indes, expectations for this rum were high. I still dream of its big brother, the Grand Arôme 2008. On the nose, the olive is discreet to give way to brioche butter and yellow fruits. Aeration is necessary to dissipate solvent and varnish odors. On the palate, you find notes of strawberry that remind me of a Grand Arôme, with some spicy notes returning. It's a good product flying under the radar.
