ELIZABETH YARD – TDL 2011 – 50.05% TDL... three letters that are becoming dangerously familiar around here. 😈 But this one goes a bit off the beaten path! Heading to Trinidad Distillers Limited, parent company of Angostura. Distilled in 2011, it spends 10 years under the tropics before receiving a 45-day finish in American Oak Char Octave. 👉 An octave is a very small barrel: lots of contact with the wood in a very short time... and naturally, it leaves traces! In the glass: caramel, vanilla, gourmand fruits, a little menthol touch just to remind you that you're indeed at TDL... then the wood, spices, and tannins gradually take over. Far from some old TDLs completely crazy on mint, camphor, and exotic fruits. Here, the barrel clearly decided to join the conversation! Only 98 bottles produced, so let's say you won't come across it every day... and now one less! ⚰️😂

Here we have a rather unusual TDL. Lots of fruit on the nose, red fruits, citrus fruits, orange, but also chocolate and light spice. Burnt sugar in the mouth, very dry and woody, bitter, but also a slight fresh note. The finish is characterized by burnt barrel notes, leather and a bit of mint. Bought for around €50, for that it's OK, but not worth the 'normal price'.
