"A bit one dimensional but still a very nice Foursquare" sums up the mood here. This 14-year cask-strength Roots bottling of 2008 Foursquare tastes classic: roasted oak, raisin and dried fruit, chocolate and caramel, with a faint pineapple lift. One taster caught solvent and a vinegary tropical edge. The 57.1% is well tucked in, but don't expect fireworks.

Spontaneous comparison between the RX15990 and the RX50. They are different vintages, but as always with Foursquare, both bottlings are at a high level with the typical flavor markers. For me, however, the RX50 has the edge.

8,5:On the nose, toasted wood notes, sweet, like caramel, biscuits, spicy with allspice, vanilla, dried apricots, raisins, pineapple and coconut, medicinal with glue, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, molasses is vegetal, herbaceous, floral, earthy with tobacco, citrus fruits arise, leather, maple, nuts join. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is oily, syrupy, sweet with toasted wood notes like caramel, chocolate, pastry, biscuits, leather, spicy with allspice, vanilla, fruity with various dried fruits like raisins and apricots, prunes, candied, citrus and tropical fruits like pineapple, coconut, peaches. 8,6:The finish is long, dry&tannic, round with sweet toasted oak notes like caramel, biscuits, nuts, spicy with cinnamon, vanilla, fruity with dried apricots, raisins, banana, coconut, pineapple, citrus fruits, marmalade like, molasses is slightly vegetal..

Nice Foursquare, just find it a bit too alcoholic. Otherwise it has everything you want from a Foursquare. Some wood, but also a pleasant sweetness thanks to vanilla, caramel, chocolate, and coconut.

#6597 04.04.2026 Back home after a hard 20 km hike, where my wife was the first female at the finish line. Listening to some nice Vini Vici and Charlotte de Witte. A very decent rum especially when looking at the price tag. The nose has natural sweetness, light wood, pineapple, raisin and light chocolate. The palate is oily with light roasted wood, citrus, dried fruit, chocolate, nutts and a light floral touch. The finish is long and well rounded with light wood, raisin, pineapple, light chocolate and caramel. These is a very faint nougat note hidden in the profile.

... Foursquare is a distillery from Barbados producing amazing rums for everyday sipping. It's a rum that will be appreciated especially by Romanians who are fed up with sugar and are looking for a smooth, sweet rum full of coconut, vanilla, chocolate and caramel. Just pleasant and not aggressive flavours.

Sour-sweet tropical fruit, maybe not even really fruit, but tropical greens in vinegar. Solvent, spicy herbs. Something else I can't get out...everything revolves around fruit vinegar and varnish. The flavor is more sweet, herbs, alcohol, vinegar sourness. The aftertaste is spicy herbs infused with alcohol. Not bad, but somehow one-dimensional.

Classic Foursquare. The same profile in taste as always. I was surprised by the very subtle nose, even for Foursquare standards - I tested it twice. Overall a well-made bottle, but it doesn't deviate at all from the ECS range.
