Typical New Yarmouth 1994 profile, but with a bit more spiciness and alcoholic sharpness. In my opinion, not quite enough for the top tier of the NY94 releases, but this release remains a great rum.

Rather a little on the woody/roasty side. Beautifully intense and a great long finish. Edit: I've now had it in my glass several times and tasted it against other NY94 contenders and I have to say that for me it's right up there. It's hard to believe that it's still available and at an incredibly fair price. I also really like the size of the bottle (350ml).

Wow, a really excellent New Yarmouth. The nose alternates between vanilla and tropical fruit, with some caramel also recognizable. On the palate, in addition to the vanilla, mainly coconut, but also a hint of mocha. Alcohol perfectly integrated.

A little cross-tasting with the two Fine Drams and the FRC Village. All three need a lot of time in the glass before they open up. All three are very good 94er NY, but don't reach the top. Benchmark remains the RA for me here! The Fine Dram with 68.5% is the winner here. Despite the high alcohol content, it comes across very pleasantly creamy. The nose is quite restrained, but on the palate it shows its potential, dominating (even though the barrel is clearly noticeable). For me, the most harmonious NY tonight. Second is the FRC. The sweetness of the sherry finish is clearly noticeable but still just fits. Third is the Fine Dram with 68%. It is very brutal and not quite as balanced. In summary, all are consistently very good bottlings.

The second Fine Dram for today. At 68%, but more is not possible. Again such an old grenade. Tropically matured for 24 years. Madness. Nose: oha, the high ABV first bites properly. It takes a bit until the aromas open up behind it. But then I have wonderful tropical fruit, tart sweet passion fruit and passion fruit, and some tart gooseberry and tangerine. After the fruit, esters and vinegar find their way in ever so slightly, framed by vanilla and cream toffee. With a little patience and care, a beautiful, dense and full-bodied nose. 8.9 Palate: very powerful and intense. Decently astringent and slightly bitter at the start. Roasty and spicy with nutmeg and pepper. At the same time, fruity with lemon zest, grapefruit and distinct coconut. The 68% is quite demanding on the palate. Fruit and spice are already in balance. The finish adds a pleasant note of violets. I like the flavor curve. 8.9 Overall a bit too brute, but with patience it stretches you deep. The long tropical aging makes this NY nicely compact and intense.

Arrived today, immediately opened, so it must. 😉 Preliminary: Do not be deterred by the sealing, which is very opening-friendly.After the unproblematic opening of the handy bottle (my new favorite size 😍) I wanted to shout "Hallelujah!", so a great fragrance flowed towards me. I thought I was already in paradise, which is probably only a tropically matured rum (here considerable 25 of a total of more than 28 and not only 26 years, label is outdated according to the bottler).On the palate I perceived at first mainly wood - but then came the alcohol with force! But that is neither surprising nor unpleasant at 68%, the alcohol content extends the finish to infinity. So this is a true finish rum - and at NY I'm into it. This also nicely conceals the fact that the rum lacks fruitiness and depth somewhat for my sensibilities. But let's be honest: Do you really want to expect elegant finesse from a stunner rum? Even if this brand new rum can't play in the top league of the '94 NYs because of the minor flaws, it certainly met my expectations.Whether its brother is on par with 68.5% remains to be seen. (Both rums are surprisingly still available.) Cheers!

#5224 10.04.2025 Running some white samples at home while relaxing a bit. Nose Fresh, medium intense, fruity, light orange, dried fruit, wood, light roasted, light caramel. Palate Warm, oily, balanced, complex, medium intense, fruity, light pineapple, light orange, wood, light roasted, light caramel, light tannins. Finish Long and warm, light oily, wood, light roasted, fruits, light citrus, banana, light berries. Empty glass Caramel, light chocolate, berries, light cinnamon.

Tasted against the sister bottling at 68.5 eser has the rounder and less pungent nose. The other is possibly Somewhat more diverse. Slightly different but on points for me about the same. Both very good but both no exception 94s NY - but in any case a very good PLV.

A rather sharp and narrow nose, but notes of caramel and fruit (prune) soften the harshness. The palate attacks with prune, resin and bark. The finish is long and bitter. A fine rum, but the direct comparison with its 68.5% brother is clearly to its disadvantage.

Once again a good 1994 NY Vintage. Overall, I personally find it a little too little complex and too much roasted aromas. The alcohol is also quite present and not well integrated. Aromatically mainly dark chocolate, coconut chips and dark, slightly salted caramel with quite a lot of toasted wood. Definitely still room for improvement.

Still very roasted and spicy in the nose with rather subtle fruit notes, starts in the mouth with a tropical fruit firework, then later returns to the roasted theme. Added is a typical combination for the 1994 NY bottlings of coconut, vanilla and caramel, which always reminds me a bit of Foursquare. A really great rum!

One of the rare Fine Drams bottlings, whose 35 cl format can be praised, making the bottle accessible while keeping a good dose of pleasure. The nose is slightly closed, you find a bit of glue, solvents and varnished wood at first, then more radiant aromas on fruits (pineapple, dried fruits), spices (chili, vanilla), toffee and chocolate. A powerful and concentrated rum that needs time to express itself. The concentration is also strongly pronounced on the palate. While toffee and chocolate bring indulgence, it’s the roasted notes (mocha) and spicy (nutmeg, pepper, vanilla, chili) that stand out with coconut to captivate the palate. You find some markers of dried fruits (raisin) and glue that give even more character to an already well-drenched rum. A very intense profile, a bit more indulgent than on the nose but still lively, the alcohol could be integrated a bit better. We continue on a very long, warm, slightly tannic, bitter finish on grilled and roasted notes, dark chocolate, mocha, all accentuated by spices. A bit of sweetness comes briefly with coconut, caramel and toffee. The finish is drier than expected. A typical profile of the house, certainly of high quality but not the softest. Compared to the twin bottle, and although the two profiles resemble each other, this New Yarmouth does not play on the same register: straighter and more characterful, notably on glue and spices, it lacks the subtlety more present on the other bottle.

Today the two 1994 New Yarmouth from Fine Drams Aficionados. The 68% bottling is a bit fruitier, while the 68.5% one is spicier and toastier. I like both very much and the price-performance ratio fits. Overall, I like the 68.5% one just a little bit better, also because of the clear notes of coconut.

Nose: red fruits in glue. Taste: liquid children's eucalyptus. Again the red fruits. Finish of medium length. The alcohol is unfortunately not well integrated, it can not deny its 68%.

A slightly alcoholic profile that quickly fades to reveal a complexity between elegant woodiness, spices, and tropical fruit. Small salty notes on the palate complement the nose. A fairly structured length drifting towards a licorice stick bitterness. A good rum overall.
