Coconut, vanilla and a little wood-glue up front, then cocoa, caramel and soft tropical fruit — this is classic Foursquare, rounded down to a very relaxed sipper. At 50% the alcohol sits well integrated, and most tasters call it easy and elegant. A few wish it had more edge; one summed it up as pleasant "but sans surprise."

Overall a very elegant and round rum. Got a sample of this rum from RumX. It’s a blend of two Foursquare barrels from 2005 respectively 2007 tropical aged for at least 11years whereafter it’s transported to Scotland and there blended and aged some more time.

A very promising and intense nose, with classic notes of vanilla, coconut and spices. The woodiness is already present on the nose. After this promise comes the palate, which is a disappointment....the reduction is unwelcome, lacking watts, character and length. Vanilla, coconut and spices are joined by a bitter aftertaste and a hint of dark chocolate. It's not bad, but fortunately it was my vacation bottle. In relaxation mode, it passes. The finish is very short. The price is far too high for this product; it should at least be divided by 2.5 to become interesting.

Classic Foursquare profile with a great sweetness and pleasant creaminess. Coconut, honey and nice spice. The reduction is very well chosen and the alcohol very well integrated. Makes really fun. I like it very much!

Good foursquare. The profile is there, well balanced, not too marked by one or the other. It's really nice. Unfortunately, the French release price doesn't make this bottle very interesting to buy, given the price of good vintages or ECS at foursquare. It's a shame.

A rum tasted online with Angus MacRaild.a slightly darker color than the other Foursquare (RX14916), a brighter nose, very fruity coconut wood and banana plus other tropical fruits and a little wood glue.on the palate the wood glue dominates, quickly replaced by coconut, banana and pineapple.the finish is long with a caramel edge and still a ton of fruit.a fine Foursquare with character.the empty glass is all sweetness and fruit.

This one had a little more soul to it, yet it was really well balanced and rounded. Nicely fruity with very good ABV and wood integration. The empty glass is really nice and I can pick up some chocolate and caramel.

Rum Sponge - RumX live tasting, second rum of the evening. Nose: clearly more typical for Barbados than the first one. Soft tropical fruits, some banana, lots of coconut and honey. Behind that spicy sharpness and a doughy texture, brioche. Pleasantly intense. 8.2 Palate: fuller and more complex than expected. Fruity-spicy, slightly bacon-like at the start. Some saltiness before I recognize licorice and papaya. A sour tip, maybe from pineapple. Honey and some tobacco with herbs at the back. 8.4 Overall a good representative from Barbados.

A rum with a relatively classic nose for a Foursquare, where coconut scents mingle with caramel, brown sugar, brioche and hints of cocoa, dried fruit, coffee and toasted notes. Spicy wood and glue round off a pleasant but unsurprising nose. The attack on the palate is pleasant and controlled. Exotic fruit, caramel, pastries and brioche combine with spice, coffee, cocoa and hazelnut to create a mouth-watering profile. The alcohol is well integrated. The finish is of decent length, still on the gourmand side and the sweetness of the Bajan style. Fruits, cocoa, coffee, tobacco, wood, spices and caramel remain in the background. An approachable Foursquare for beginners, but perhaps deserving of a little more vivacity to set it apart.

Classic Foursquare profile, the high proportion of tropical storage brings in - after initially bulky adhesive notes - a lot of palatable sweetness of coconut, vanilla, toffee and subtle cocoa. The reduction has also worked well here, a very relaxed drinkable rum.

Nice blend, perfect for easy sipping. This rum would be perfect for beginners as it’s round and soft. Light notes of coconut, spices, caramel , vanilla and cocoa.

This one goes straight in the typical Foursquare direction, I just say coconut which slides right into the nose here. ABV makes the whole thing very harmonious. Very round Foursquare that also brings quite a bit of sweetness.

Tasted at the April Lottery RumX tasting with Angus from Rum Sponge, the second in the round: Significantly sweeter on the nose, with fruity notes, but reminds me more of Foursquare than the first (RX14916). The slight sticky notes that I often associate with FS are also clearly present here. Less wood on the palate and therefore more pleasing for me, despite the higher ABV. I like it a lot!

This is a much more typical Foursquare profile. I like the cocoa and coffee notes. Not overly complex or intense, but alcohol is perfectly integrated, a great relaxing sipper.

Delicious (typical) Foursquare, leaning heavily on the chocolatey and roasted side. Very pleasant and subtly spicy in the mouth. A slight sweetness comes in the finish and rounds off the picture. Overall a solid FS.

We're staying with Foursquare but Rum Sponge has a really well-balanced and rounded selection. Nicely fruity, with a very good integration of alcohol and wood. This is a blend of two Foursquare casks from 2005 and 2007 respectively, tropical aged for at least 11 years, then transported to Scotland where they are blended and aged a little longer. All in all, a very elegant and pleasant rum to sip in tranquil mode. There's no Foursquare planned for our Rhum Mirror Episode 25: Ma Lau's Choice, but there will be beautiful things. I invite @everyone to sign up ASAP before it's sold out 😉
