Intense mint and menthol notes lingering on the nose. Notes from the cask - vanilla and wood - also present creating a balanced profile. Balance is also what you find in the palate. Despite its age, this release shows a lighter profile versus other 2003 bottlings. Akin to the Single Cask Nation Angostura release. All classic notes are there yet in a less heavy overall composition. Refreshing.

A strangely discreet TDL compared to its predecessor from the same bottler, or even other bottlings from the same vintage. The nose brings notes of menthol and aromatic herbs, then dives into spices (vanilla, licorice, pepper, anise) and oak before fading on some scattered fruit notes between peach, mango, and dried fruits. While there is some leather and roasted notes, this TDL is a bit duller in terms of aromas and power. On the palate, it is a typical rum of its terroir that hits the palate with powerful menthol and herbal notes, followed by a fruitiness a bit more present on peach, mango, and citrus acidity. The wood and spices (especially salt) are still there, marking the palate with their presence and shading the overall profile. We find a fairly round, dry rum marked by a hint of dirtiness. The alcohol is well integrated. The finish is rather concentrated on a certain astringency marked by the mineral and metallic side, even slightly iodized profile. The menthol is still fresh but supported by a bit of bitterness coming from leather and spices. Overall, the usual exuberance of 2003 TDLs seems tamed here by aging, which certainly brings a different charm but reduces the bottling's potential, which remains high-level nonetheless.

Nose as expected from a T.D.L. The intensity is in the medium range. On the palate then stronger with resin and lots of mint and kumquat, slightly medicinal. In the aftertaste the salty bitter (medicinal and kumquat) continues, complemented with barrel notes. Good T.D.L, with a touch too bitter.

This bottling doesn't quite convince me. All the markers of the 2003 vintage are present (mint/menthol/caramel), but they are very subdued. In addition, the alcohol is not particularly well integrated. This is not a bad rum, but compared to the other 2003 vintages, it falls a little short.

The TSG2 from CDI for Auld Alliance is lighter than my other 2003 TDLs. The nose is surprisingly thin, the typical markers are only weakly pronounced. Slight peach, some vanilla, also mint. Quite yellow, without dark spice or smokiness. I like the light, yellow fruit, but it's a bit little. As the color already announces and the nose continues, the rum is very light in the mouth. Unfortunately it is also very sharp-edged and sour. That unfortunately makes the nuance invisible. Reminds me more of the 2002 than the other 2003s. The finish is the highlight with the typical peach-mint iced tea. Unfortunately this is the worst heavy 2003 TDL (the super Spanish OR&S runs out of competition) I've had so far.

Dry-styled TDL with very expressive yet fine-grained mint and menthol note. Accompanied by barrel, fruit and subtle spice notes. Apart from the very tasty intense mint-menthol aroma for me not a complexity monster, but still an appealing release.

The 2003 T.D.L from Compagnie des Indes struggles compared to the other bottlings of the vintage. Mint, menthol, light fruit notes, some wood. The flavor notes are there but not very pronounced.

One of the better representatives of TDL. But the result is a less exciting rum: wood, caramel, not much more. Alcohol well integrated. Age has obviously sanded down all the edges of a distillate that is not very expressive anyway. Easy boring sipping

Really minty on the finish. Almost like chewing on a dried mint. After aerination, the nose develops more towrds really nice "darker" notes - baking spices, wood, dried fruits.
