Fiji rum Not sure how I feel about this one - have let it set in the glass for 20+ mins and despite that there’s not a lot on offer on the nose, just a lot of industrial notes that eventually give way to something I’m rather familiar with… Peat! The palate is strikingly different from the nose - you’re greeted with a wave of sour sherry, closely followed by tangy peat, after a couple minutes once swallowed you get remnants of polish/varnish note alongside a bit of leather… In my opinion the cask (which feels like an Islay Peated Sherry cask) dominates too much to start with and then when you’re able to get past that it’s the slightest Sherry sweetness but I don’t honestly get anything that’s unique about it…. I can’t honestly tell if there’s any signature to it or not - to me there’s nothing separating this from a run of the mill Sherry cask malt whisky…. Not getting anything resembling rum in the flavour profile at all I’d like to try Fiji rum however I don’t think this is the one to get me into it 4/10 - Drinkable
