The nose reads classic and green, then the palate turns into something closer to fruit eau-de-vie — that's the surprise here. Cane juice, crushed grass, a bit of mango and banana, light esters kept in balance. Bottled at 60% but the alcohol sits well. One taster caught a lingering earthy/dirt note; a couple needed two or three pours to warm up to it.

Rhumfest Paris, I really enjoyed this tasting. I wanted to do the New Grove stand and they offered me this bottle. The pure cane juice brings a sweet and vegetal cane flavor; the long fermentation brings exuberant fruitiness with a hint of esters. I found the alcohol to be quite well integrated. The pure juice method with long fermentation is really interesting. Brands rooted in agriculture seem to be taking an interest.

A special rum that you have to warm up to. 2-3 times in the glass with some air helps. Metallic finish is interesting. Sugarcane, freshly cut grass with some other floral and agricole notes.

#4592 26-27.01.2024 Hanse Spirit This is an OK sipper but I think it's an excellent mixer to be honest. Nose Fresh and green, grass, sugarcane, light floral, banana, ester, balanced. Palate Fresh, grass, ester, mango, balanced, sugarcane, light floral. Finish Medium long, fresh, citrus, light sugarcane.

EDIT: tasted again at Rhum Fest, I maintain my opinion :) Previous notes: How can you rate this 7.5?? Honestly, I think it deserves the 'average' of 8. Quite floral and fruity, a nice cane, maybe a bit of mango or banana, some well-balanced esters to lift it all. It's indulgent but slightly spicy :)

Now the second time in the glass. I have to upgrade the rum. Very exciting! Light fruity Agricole notes, lots of spices, anise, yeast, light esters. Great complexity.

WL 2024 A eau de vie side that makes it an interesting rum in itself for tasting. It must also be very effective for cocktails.

Nose is very different from mouth. Nose pretty classic. Mouth starts well and evolves a lot in the first 10 seconds, really liked it, fresh, mint, very pleasant but then comes a dirt/vegetal note I don't like and last a lot unfortunately. Update 03/12/25 : I actually don't get this unpleasant earthy note at the end anymore so I change my rating from 6.8 to 8. It's an impressive rum on many aspect.

New Grove L’Intendance – 60%. A pure cane juice fermented for 32 hours, then distilled three times in a copper still to obtain a juice rich in congeners (>416 g/hL). The third distillation produces an alcohol at 69.6°, which then rests 30 months in steel tanks, then is slowly reduced to be bottled at 60%. The result is a high-ester white rum bottled at 60%, very gourmand on fresh cane, with perfectly balanced esters that enhance everything. Thanks to John for insisting (not long) that I taste it!

Expressive nose of sugarcane and very vegetal, almost like crushed grass. Fresh palate and very quickly on fruit eau-de-vie, very surprising! Warm finish that ends on notes of white fruits, peach.

A very fruity nose, cane, tangy tropical fruits, citrus peels, floral. Also a winey side. The palate is very aromatic, floral, still cane and various fruits. Slight bitterness on the citrus peel. The winey side is even more present than on the nose (almost a slight white Armagnac vibe). Relatively long finish. Very interesting.
