Neat is the only way you'd drink a 30-year-old single cask at 57.7%, but that's where the trouble starts — several tasters find the alcohol still dominant and poorly integrated after all those years. Underneath sit roasted wood, leather, tobacco and a flash of pineapple, then a finish that mostly vanishes. One blind taster scored it high and was surprised; most came away let down for the age.

05-12-2025 - Rate 8.6 Had this in a blind tasting and it surprised everyone. I was no where near guessing where it was from. Nose of wood, oak, leather and pineapple. Palate of wood, pineapple and a hint of tobacco. Long finish dominated by leather, wood and pineapple.

#4120 I was looking forward to this old rum but it was rather disappointing. Even after a very long rest the ABV was still kind of dominant masquerading the other flavours. Roasted wood comes in second followed by sule fruit, spices and caramel. Draws nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass has some tobacco and leather notes.

Interesting nose. Taste on the rather sweet side with vanilla, toffee, some wood and subtle spices. Not much more happens - enough for a pleasing sipper, but is also not a revelation for a rum aged for thirty years.

A disappointing rum, but less than the RA 1996. It has caramel, earthy and a slight glue note on the nose that I do not have anymore on the palate. The finale is extremely short, it disappears instantly. So far, I'm really not a fan of this distillery.

Unbelievable that after 30 years of aging the alcohol is still poorly integrated and not much comes through taste-wise except neutral alcohol.

Hmm I try to ignore the crazy price point. But this is a rough Grenada that is alcoholic and has virtually no integration. A lot of Spanish multi column that really worries me how terrible this was 30 years earlier
