Jasmine and garden flowers hit first — one taster nailed it as cherry-blossom perfume — then bubble gum, plastic, ripe strawberry and a briny HERR twist. This is a young Savanna agricole from sugar cane juice, oily on the palate and wildly floral. At 61.9% the alcohol barely shows; most drinkers call it perfectly balanced. Genuinely unlike anything else on the shelf.

This is a retasting and I stick to my initial score. ----- #4130 This is a very nice and well balanced HERR release and if you like the HERR mark you have to try this one. The ABV has been well integrated and the floral and fruity notes just come at you from a distance. Oily and warm on the palate and it draws pretty nice curtains in the glass despite its age. The empty glass has some nice caramel and pastries.

I never really warmed up to it. Didn't find the nose particularly appealing and neither on the palate. Overall very floral and medicinal and somehow musty and sharp. Update: Even after the 2nd tasting it absolutely doesn't grab me.

Edit: On the second tasting, I liked it a bit more, rating adjusted upwards. I've wanted to try this rum for a long time. At the Kirsch Cruise 2024, I finally had the chance. Mhm basically really good, but something still bothered me about it.

Little Savanna GA & HERR cross tasting: Nose feels young (and rightfully so). Focus is on floral notes. I get a distinct resin sensation and wood like notes from this one. Not much going on on the fruity side of noses here. There is also some wet barley in it. Definitely an interesting bottling here! Very „special“ on the palate as well. Sweeter than expected for me. Intense (and „different“) esters in this one. Rotting eggplant! Some resin and flowery notes again. Truely a special animal.

An extraordinary taste experience, I couldn't really place it blind! On the nose I first get fermented grain, fresh aromas, some fruit and artichoke. On the palate somehow something between artificial (plastic) and some fresh florals. The whole thing is quite creamy, oily and intense... this continues in the finish. I'm torn here: between brilliant and meh!

Tasted against RX15991. Both very good in their own way, meaning: They are quite different, but I like both equally (today). While the 19-year-old Traditional really feels round, ripe and smooth, the young HERR breaks out like a wild foal in several directions one after another, first sweetly-perfumed, then smoky, finally tart-fruity with a tendency towards gooseberries. Compared to the HERR Japan Tribute 1 (RX219), the HERR Japan Tribute 3 is a small light, but shines pleasantly independently due to its wild character with recognition effect.

Superb Savanna. The HERR barrel is omnipresent and wraps a very floral, mentholated nose, fruitiness to the max. The watts are definitely there. I really like the HERRs. I'm not necessarily a fan of older Savanna. This one pleased me a lot. Edit: tasted again today and it's really a superb rum. Very pronounced brine then fruit puree, all with the typical Savanna character. Superb.

A very unusual Savanna. At first tasting more like; Wow, is this a spoiled Mhoba? On the second tasting, I like it much better. Floral, fermented fruits, fermented plants, elderberry, a pleasant sweetness. Somehow very good and somehow very spoiled of all kinds. Thanks for the sample @Saibot

Very expressive and aromatic, with a clear HERR signature. On the nose, strong esters, solvent notes, and green fruits. On the palate, tropical fruits, citrus zest, and light herbal hints combine with a present spiciness. For its young age, surprisingly complex and powerful, with a long, distinctive finish.

On aeration, rubber and glue come out, synthetic touch, herbaceous sugarcane, vegetal with tomatoes, earthy with tobacco, some raisins and smoky, nutty wood with pecans or walnuts, slightly meaty, complex. 8,2:On the palate, the attack is medicinal with esters, slightly plastic, synthetic, intense, dry, juniper shows up, roasted, spicy, meaty wood, oily, fresh, herbaceous sugarcane, later vegetal, floral, hay-ish and pineapple, red, citrus fruits, raisins. 8,2:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, with roasted oak, smoky, spicy, warm, nutty, mango, strawberry, pineapple, pungent with yoghurt hints, synthetic, soapy and sugarcane hints, vegetal, floral, earthy, fresh with green tea, hay-ish. My expectations of a Japan HERR Tribute were very high and were not quite fulfilled. It is a very fine profile, not brute, actually pleasant. But unfortunately somehow under-complex. Perhaps a few years in the barrel would have done the rum more good.

Delicious young Agricole with an intense HERR finish! Strawberry, papaya and almost artificial sweetness and fruitiness in harmony. I like it surprisingly well, could just do with a little longer in the barrel.

Hm, doesn't pick me up at all. Very herbal traditional. I can only recognize the HERR finish when I know it. Alcohol poorly integrated. I like the bottle design much more than the contents. PLV unacceptable. Sorry, you can get much better Savannas for much less money.

You can taste the HERR markers, but they don't come through as brutally as in other HERRs. Overall, this bottling is very floral/earthy and sometimes feels a bit artificial. Honestly, I expected more, even though it's definitely not a bad bottling.

On the nose: Esters, medicinal and polish notes as main note mixed with earthy and light woody notes. Interesting profile for a young rum. Taste: Esters, medicinal notes with slightly dirty and oily mouthfeel. After that you get nice range of earthy notes and light woody notes. Abv integration is quite good. Finish: Warm. Woody notes. Earthy and vegetal notes. Dry. Medium finish. It took some time in the glass and a few sips before i started to like this rum. It has nice range of earthy and vegetal/floral notes that i begin to like after a few sips.

Tasting a 3cl sample. 👃 The tears are thick and oily along the glass. An extremely floral nose, on garden flowers (garden rue, mimosa, lily of the valley) and sachets of dried flowers that our parents used to put in the linen cupboards. There is even fresh and slightly damp hay. Fruits between overripe and candied, a bit of freshly cut pineapple, light citrus, vanilla and light spices. A bit of conifer resin here and there. A note of smoked plastic and light brine brings a typical and particular signature of HERR. Very nice nose, elegant and refined. - 90/100 😋 The pineapple is more present and gives a little ester kick. A range of flowers grips the palate, quite a captivating flavor of rue officinale. Bitterness and astringency of still young fruits (carambola, citrus, gariguette strawberries). Overall it's quite soft and buttery for a Herr. - 86/100 ⛳ Medium length, you feel the youth of this drink. The flowers are more on warm essential oils. I can't help but note the specificity of the empty glass. It delivers fermentary smells of homemade vanilla/strawberry yogurt. It smells a bit like in an artisanal soap shop. - 85/100 A quite atypical Herr that shakes up the codes. A little UFO. Not for every day, but a wine that exists to remind us that Rum is eclectic.

Direct comparison with RX1928: On the nose, the HERR finish is very prominent here without making the Agricole part unrecognizable. Especially on the palate you notice the young age. Clearly floral note, the HERR finish here turns into pineapple and papaya in combination. More edges and corners, but also more to discover than with RX1928. Still definitely a top-class rum.

Wow for me among the Savannas my personal favorite. The Agricoles from Savanna have this extreme aroma of Tahitian vanilla together with nutmeg blossom. You really don't notice the 61.9% - the rum is perfectly balanced, complex but not too demanding. It basically delivers exactly what I expected from HerrBlanc.

Rums from the Savanna distillery are among my favorites. I recommend everyone try especially the ester-heavy pieces like Grand Arome or HERR. You haven't felt so much fruit in just a few drops of liquid for a long time.

I love how this is heavy on ripe strawberries. Quite oily, a touch of vegetables and mint. Nice and fresh in a vegetal way. I added some drops of water to settle it down a bit and quite liked it this way. Thanks Rodolophe for opportunity to try this sample.

A LORD but with freshness. You can feel the youth of the juice. Floral markers indeed but also a bit cereal-like. On the fruit side, I would lean towards fresh apple. Good but it's a profile I prefer long-aged to give it roundness and depth.

Fair rating: Very elegant, slightly earthy-herbal nose. On the palate also very elegant and round. The 61.9% is hardly noticeable. Great Savanna, unfortunately hardly available at reasonable prices.

A really strange smell and taste. I feel a kind of synthetic ginger, papaya, of course fruitiness and esters. But the ginger is clearly noticeable.

This Japanese Herr 3 has caused a lot of talk. Its release price is very high for such a young rum, that's true. However, its very floral profile (jasmine is very present on the nose) gives it a very unique profile that I really like.

On the nose very aromatic sweet blooms and flowers. When I realized the connection to Japan it hit me, Sakuras. Smell of the spring blooming trees. Oh, yes. Beside it I get the notes of perfume, bubble gum, plastic, rubber, varnish, medicinal notes and young wood. Tropical fruits, pineapple even cherry and typical artificial strawberry are also present but rather in the background. The same notes strikes my palate. Strong floral, vegetal notes goes hand in hand with chemical, plastic notes. Tropical fruits, wood and spices. Longer plastic finish. Very specific rum. Hundreds and hundreds of rums tasted and nothing even remotely close to it. I like it very much, this one will be remebered forever.
