One taster summed it up as "sweet and incredibly fruity," and that's the heart of this 25-year-old Long Pond ITP. Expect citrus, passionfruit and mango up front, then it turns nutty and roasty with light ester funk and a touch of oak. Several found the 54.7% remarkably well integrated. This is an idiosyncratic Long Pond ITP. It somehow looks younger to me than it is. Blindly, I would probably have classified it more with Clarendon. On the palate and in the aftertaste, I do notice the age and, unfortunately, mainly in an intense woody note with tannins and bitterness. In my opinion, there are better and cheaper representatives. Nevertheless, a good rum!

#4602 07.02.2024 online tasting with Rest & Be Thankful. Nose Faint roasted wood, overripe fruits, light ester, polish, floral. Palate Oily, light roasted wood, fruits, light ester, medium spicy, naturally sweet, light chocolate. Finish Medium long, oily, light roasted wood, citrus. Slow moving curtains in the glass. The empty glass has some chocolate, light vanilla and faint mint.

Master tasting of Rest & Be Thankful by RumX This Long Pond has a beguiling nose... sweet and fruity it spreads its aromas... On the palate it continues like this...light and soft, it gels this sweetness and fruitiness (passion fruit), a light spiciness joins it. The finish continues in the same way. This is a very good LP, for me personally it lacks a little complexity

Tasted during the RumX masterclass. Huge thanks the guys from R&BT for presenting their range! Very nice exploration of some low(we) ester marks. While some of the noses were a little light, the long aged expressions are very interesting on the palate across the board. Very interesting! :) While I‘m not a huge fan of the ITP mark in general, this very long aged bottling makes for a smooth yet complex expression. Just enough edges to keep the profile interesting and let the mark shine through.

After the RumX R&BT tasting on February 7, I tasted the rest again with more calm: The fifth rum in the glass is a Long Pond ITP, so rather low ester. Quite mild on the nose with citrus and tropical fruits, roasted notes and vanilla crescents. A pleasant spiciness on the palate, reminds me of fresh spiced bread. Quite nice, but not in the ITP top league like the 2000 Plantation New Vibrations.

Two Rest & Be Long Ponds compared. This one with a slightly lower ITP mark is more muted on the nose. Some citrus fruit dominates here. On the palate, there are interesting smoky notes, the fruitiness leans more towards mango. Slightly smoky and spicy also in the finish. I like it.

Post-tasting from the Mastertasting of Rest & Be Thankful via RumX, which I unfortunately missed. A comparison of the RX16269 and RX16270. The Long Pond DNA is clearly recognizable in both. Both beautiful rums, but in my opinion too overpriced. In conclusion, I liked the ITP better.

RumX/Kirsch-Online-Tasting Rest&Be Thankful! 25 years old, light pot, Mark ITP with 85 gr/hlpa Ester. Nose: elegant with fine spicy-woody-fruity aromas. Despite the age, it feels pleasantly fresh. Sweetish lemon with grapefruit and currant, behind that a light caramel sweetness. Oak wood, embraced by pleasant and light ester notes, very round when it opens up. 8.4 Palate: stronger than the nose and more on the spicy-woody side. Initially even peppery-salty with some caraway, before anise, lime peel and red currant come through. At the back it becomes slightly bacon-like and leaves a spicy impression. 7.8

Surprisingly restrained on the nose. Vanilla and passion fruit in particular come through. The smell is very pleasing and pleasantly sweet. The palate continues to be sweet, with some esters and tropical fruit. Makes a much younger impression than it actually is. But the Long Pond DNA is also not clearly recognizable.

Very round nose that I like a lot. Toffee, chocolate, good load of fruits, vanilla, roasted aromas, nutty. Delicious in the mouth with natural sweetness that continues into the finish and leads to a complex picture. Chocolate, tea, vanilla, wood. Top!

With a relaxed ester level, there is quite a pleasing play of aromas here with very well integrated alcohol content. Initially still on the fresh and fruity side, it increasingly turns roasty towards the finish with bacon-like hints and spices. Not particularly complex, but tasty!

Nice thing, where roasted aromas and fruit aromas take turns and it’s accompanied by a band playing light funk in the background. I like it, but the price will be crazy again, right?! (haven’t checked yet. Now I checked, and for the price I say...) 86/100 or 6/10

So the citrus note I find really very exciting and natural and I don't have it so much in Long Pond in mind, so you should try this one as it is very complex and long-lasting. However, for a purchase I find the price a bit too harsh.

Part of the Rest & Be Thankful tasting (thanks to RumX and F.L.O. for sharing). Nice and interesting event. All candidates had a very nice nose. I liked the LSO and MPG profiles best. Overall, I often missed the tropical aging.

Tasted during the Rest&Be Thankful Masterclass, and a second time alone in Rube. While in the masterclass all rums were tasted in ascending ester content order (which was absolutely fine), I decided to taste the two low ester Long Ponds separately in the second round. Both impress with fine notes, but I like the LSO overall a bit more as it brings more of the savory spice that, for me, defines a LP. The ITP is more buttery and has a nicely integrated ABV. Generally, in this price range, I would have wished for a more precise indication of the duration of the tropical aging (which for me is the essential part).

Uh, nice nose! Tropical fruits, banana, already a bit ripe. Well integrated alcohol. Good mouthfeel, some apices join the fruits. Oily, creamy. Medium finish on vanilla & fruits. Hardly any burn. Really enjoyable !

Actually comes across lighter but more chemical on the nose than the AHJ. Citrus fruits instead of overripe mush. The more air, the more nail polish. Extremely sweet on the palate, dark notes up to nuts - before it really goes towards nail polish & co. Very exciting, very complex.

A very interesting rum. Ginger, some menthol, eucalyptus on the nose. Reminiscent of and reminiscent of Trabant exhaust fumes. Very exciting. Great sweetness on the palate, wood, passion fruit, peach, mango. Could be a little more balanced.

Subtle bitter notes from the barrel meet the obligatory tropical fruit and citrus aromas. Slight roasted aromas. Not a complexity monster, but with everything you would expect from Jamaica. Rock solid in a positive sense.
