Opinions land in the mid-to-high 7s, and the recurring theme is a gap between nose and glass. Members love the light, fresh nose — green apple, banana, vanilla, a little honey — but several feel the palate turns spicy and woody and the fruit fades. A low-ester Clarendon: creamy vanilla, young oak, pepper, dried fruit. The 56% is noticeable. A few called it an "easy sipper," others wanted more tropical depth.

Light and fruity on the nose, mostly yellow fruits. Vanilla, roasted notes and wood are also present. On the palate smooth, sweet and again very fruity with well-integrated alcohol. The aftertaste has a slight metallic note. Very good fruity Clarendon, unfortunately not so attractive in price.

A rather dry rum where the mineral and somewhat sour notes are in the foreground, then the fruit (green sour apple and unripe bananas). Has something, but I don't need a whole bottle of it. Wow, the price. I'd rather book a nice weekend at the spa for that. You get more out of it. 84/100 or 5/10

Retasting of the three Clarendon Low Ester bottlings from the Rest & Be Thankful tasting. Higher mark and ester than the MBK and nice notes of vanilla, tobacco, papaya, yellow fruits... but overall I like the MBK better.

#4599 07.02.2024 online tasting with Rest & Be Thankful. Nose Light, light roasted wood, fruits, light cinnamon, faint mint, floral, light ester, faint varnish Palate Light roasted wood, earthy, dried fruit, spicy, light ester, naturally sweet. Finish Medium long, light roasted wood, faint smoke, dried fruit, naturally sweet. Very thick slow moving curtains in the glass. The empty glass has some licorice and faint tobacco.

Very pleasing nose: sweet banana, vanilla, some wood and red fruits. Plus a peppery but still fresh sharpness. On the palate, it seamlessly follows the smell, the alcohol is also very well integrated. In the finish, slight hints of coffee. I like it very much!

Master tasting from Rest & Be Thankful via RumX This MM is very fruity on the nose with a dominant apple note. Unfortunately, it loses this fruitiness on the palate. Spice, pepper and wood dominate and the alcohol is not so well integrated, which is a shame, The finish also remains in this direction. The whole thing seems somewhat unfinished

Tasted during the RumX masterclass. Huge thanks the guys from R&BT for presenting their range! Very nice exploration of some low(we) ester marks. While some of the noses were a little light, the long aged expressions are very interesting on the palate across the board. Very interesting! :)

After the RumX R&BT tasting on 7.2., tasted the rest again more calmly: As the third rum a 24-year-old Monymusk with the old Marque AHJ, which now corresponds to the MBK Marque. On the nose similar to the previous MBK, maybe a bit less 'lemony' and more towards a winter spice mix. Quite spicy on the palate.

Since I unfortunately couldn't attend the tasting due to the German Rail, I'm catching up now at my leisure. From the first impression, in my opinion, it falls more into the Easy Sipper category. Very entertaining. But for the price, it's a no-go for me, sorry.

RumX/Kirsch-Online-Tasting Rest&Be Thankful! 24-year-old Low Ester AHJ (an old Mark, now equal to an MBK), very similar to the other AHJ. Nose: creamy, with citrus fruits, banana, gooseberry and green apple. Slightly woody and spicy. Also a fine honey note. It unfolds more and more over time. Very nice and fine. 8.4 Palate: clearly more intense than the nose. Very sweet at the start, with honey and especially licorice. Has a very creamy, almost bacon-like texture. But it is also slightly salty-peppery. Everything – including the alcohol – well balanced. There’s still a lot to discover. I still have to work my way into the low-light Jamaicas. 7.9

Powerful spicy aroma, tart barrel notes, plus the obligatory fruit aromas. On the palate and finish, the fresh aromatic play from the nose is increasingly flanked by present tart-bitter flavors. A bit too intense for me, especially compared to the other R&BT Monymusk releases from the same year.

Surprisingly weak on the nose! Spices, caramel, honey, apple, raspberry. On the palate somewhat better and more intense, still apple and spices. Complex and long finish, quite sharp, but also roasty/smoky and vegetal, as well as sweet. Hard to classify as a whole package. If the nose were better, I could imagine more points.

Despite the peppery sharp start, the further progression in the mouth remains rather thin and, for my taste, is too stingy with fruity nuances, because apart from a crisp, green apple note as well as unripe pear and lemon, not much else comes through. The overall package is not unpleasant, but somewhat disappointing for the age and the price asked.

Part of the Rest & Be Thankful tasting (thanks to RumX and F.L.O. for sharing). Nice and interesting event. All candidates had a very nice nose. I liked the LSO and MPG profiles best. Overall, I often missed the tropical aging.

Five different Clarendon Monymusk were bottled by Rest&Be thankful mostly in the low ester range in comparison. The winner for me RX18817-->Mark MMW and with esters of 224.2 gr/hlpa the highest value is in front, behind it gets somewhat tight. This bottling here is spicier in profile, alcohol is more noticeable. Overall the profile seems a bit lighter compared to RX17094.

Very gentle, light nose. Vanilla & spices. Hardly any fruits. Same picture on the palate, heavy on spices and creamy vanilla. The spices stay on the tongue for some time. Unfortunately missing the fruits :(

Very light on the nose, but round. Fresh with green apple, some banana and again lots of light wood. Vanilla, some peat/smoke on the palate. Overall very spicy, but just not sharp alcoholic. A bit more sweetness. Funk and fruit on the finish.

Interesting Jamaican, right on the nose after limiting and smelling I felt like I was in a swimming pool. A bit of chlorine smell. But it quickly settled and notes of green fruits came through. On the palate: esther, banana, mango, tobacco, and pineapple. You can taste the 56%.
