Review by Rowald Sweet Empire
This is a rum I released for my punk/hc band Sweet Empire. Gonna rate it anyway because it's delicious haha. Recipe: This small batch Carribean blended rum consists of: 5 year old Barbados (Foursquare), 2 to 8 year old Venezuela, 3 year old Dominican, and unaged Jamaican rum (Hampden). All non-chill filtered, unsweetened and without any additives. It had some additional aging on a Woodford Reserve Bourbon barrel on Terschelling from 26-01-2023 till 19-05-2023 – and was brought down from 65% to our preferred drinking strength of 52,2%. Personal notes: In the nose the Foursquare is prominent. Hint of glue. Spices: cinnamon. Caramel. Toffee. Through that base is a good whiff of funk from the Hampden. Thus tropical fruit. The base is unsweetened Venezuela and Dominican rum: coffee notes. It even has a bit of an agricoly vibe at times. Lot's of things going on. Taste: Foursquare again prominent..typical flavours. More bitterness/burnt sugar. Vanilla. Funk gives it some bite. Again something fresh/agricole-y. Chestnut. American oak. White pepper. Finish: medium. Peppers linger. Dry/bitter. So we sold this for our 15th anniversary gig for a crazy low price: 35eu (sharing = caring). 100 bottles sold out within days. For music: www.sweetempire.bandcamp.com or any other streamer.
