Somehow the rum doesn't pick me up. The taste is relatively thin, somewhat alcoholic, not a typical Enmore profile.

#4485 03-04.11.2023 Den Danske Whiskyfestival. Again a special meet up besides the event itself because we think it's a bit too dull. Had a great time with friends again. My notes. Nose: wood, roasted, dried fruit, herbal, plum. Palate: oily, wood, roasted, dried fruit, anise, light caramel. Finish: medium long finish, raisin, roasted wood. Empty glass licorice and light nougat.

Resting this EHP brings an unexpressive and sharp nose; not with an alcohol sting, but rather iodine-esque. Even after resting for 45 minutes. With enough agitation: lots of marzipan and some dried fruits, in combination with Greek yoghurt, shredded fennel, green kiwi and dry spice. Sounds exciting, but unfortunately it’s all very mild. On the palate woodier and sweeter, but still too mild and severely lacking power. Dark chocolate and especially nut skins are fairly present, making the experience too bitter and tannic (and subsequently metallic) for my taste. The bitter sensation lasts well into the finish, which is somewhat short, which is in the case of this rum: not a bad thing. Before tasting I thought the reviews on this were harsh, but after tasting, I fully agree. I’m guessing this is a single cask. Why this was not blended into something better will forever remain a mystery to me.
