This 3-year Ghanaian cane-juice pot still drinks bigger and darker than most agricole — several tasters would have guessed molasses blind. The wood is firmly in charge, and at 57% the alcohol runs hot. Give it air and it opens into nutty, dried-fruit sweetness.

I find the rums from Ghana really exciting! This comes with the typical Ghana profile, but seems much older than the 3 years. Nice and round, yet strong character. Really good!

The nose is indulgent, sweet and rich in spices. It sports aromas of caramel and extremely ripe, near mushy, banana. Then black cherry and lots and lots of cask spice. After a good while a snap of vinegar breaks through and the sweetness gets broken down into a bready profile with notes of breakfast cereal and sesame buns. Would not have guessed agricole via the nose. Cask-driven in the mouth. Nutty sweet and near-burnt caramel, followed by banana, dried fruits and almost overpowering cask influence. Wood char and accompanying smoke in the spotlight, with a tail of hay. The finish is a sweet-bitter juxtaposition. Crème fraîche with a mouth-watering amount of vanilline vs. smoldering, charred wood. When first tasting this rum I did not like it at all, and found the cask to be incredibly overpowering. With more aeration it’s better, but the virgin oak is still firmly in the drivers seat.

#6130 26.12.2025 Second day after Christmas and my stomach is finally back to normal, more or less. Time for some nice EDM to blast out in my office while the wife watches Friends...... Nose Light wood, cherry, light earthy, light caramel, faint coconut, pear, cinnamon, light grass. Palate Oily, light wood, spice, light nutts, pear, faint smoke, light tobacco, cinnamon, faint coconut. Finish Medium to long, cinnamon, light wood, light nutts, vanilla, faint coffee, light dried fruit. Empty glass Light pear, light tobacco, cherry, light coconut, cinnamon.

First of all, a big thank you to Marco for the sample! The rum pleasantly surprised me with just a few floral and agricole notes, but more dried fruits, nougat, and chocolate. A good rum for a blind tasting

The nose starts of buttery and caramelised with notes of vanilla and dried fruit. It continues with liquorice, tobacco and some grassy agricole notes. The first sips are dominated by notes of dark chocolate, vanilla and dried fruit. Later, it becomes peppery and more fruity, with only a hint of agricole. The finish is short with notes of dried fruit and some tannins. Overall a decent sip with quite a lot of natural sweetness.

Crisp fresh, banana, some leather, tobacco, - an unusual profile, distinctive and different. Very drinkable. Nice creamy chocolate note - would have guessed blind rather molasses rum, hardly grassy notes, which are typical for sugar cane juice distillate.

Nose: lots of fruit. I mainly smell cherry here. Also vanilla and very slight agricole notes. Taste: lots of fruit. Also spicy and unmistakable but only subtle agricole notes. The empty glass smells like smoky fruit (cherry?) Simply round/harmonious and really tasty!
