Most tasters land firmly in the "very good" camp, though a couple find it a touch dry and alcoholic. It's a classic Martinique agricole at cask strength: sugarcane, dried fruit and young oak up front, with caramel, chocolate and tobacco filling in. The palate reads oily and full, ending long with wood and grassy notes. Fans of the style call it a beautiful find; the drier finish divides a few.

Ich habe mir zu Ohren kommen lassen, dass es sich hier um eine HSE in Fassstärke handelt. Angaben ohne Gewähr! Absolut typische Agricole Aromen mit Zuckerrohr, jungem Holz, Gras und Heu. Dazu gesellen sich Kernfrüchte und Karamell. Der Abgang ist leider etwas kurz. Wer Agricole mag wird hier nicht enttäuscht werden.

This is a rum from Martinique, more specifically from the St James distillery (its olfactory and gustatory characteristics are clearly recognizable). The nose is full of promise, but I'm a little less enthusiastic about the taste. A little dry and alcoholic for me... but it's still good. The finish is dominated by woodiness.

Many thanks to Thomas for the great sample! Very complex rum, with a very nice nose, full of great agricole notes paired with furniture wax, a little tar, toffee and lots of fruit. What I liked less were the notes of charred wood and meat towards the end Very fine, balanced and complex on the palate. Great interplay between fruit, cask and agricole notes. The finish is long and the agricole/sugar cane notes predominate.

Ja ne, mag ein geiler Agricole sein, aber meins ist er gerade in diesem Moment nicht so. Hat natürlich die üblichen Agricole Noten, ein wenig Holz, etwas Karamell, etwas Zuckerrohr und auch etwas Würze.

Rum Friendly Club Advent Calendar Day 2. The agricole rum side is noticeable on the nose with dry herbs, vegetal sweetness, dried fruits and a fermented note. The palate is full, tasty. The vegetal sweetness, yellow fruits, citrus and dried fruits are well perceptible. The wood supports and the alcohol is perfectly integrated. The finish is long, tasty, harmonious with all the aromas lingering. A very nice discovery!

Complex, round and herbal Agricole! Very balanced with wood, caramel sweetness, chocolate, sugar cane, spice, roasted aromas and fruit. Very long finish with deep barrel notes and herbal aromas, but all very harmonious! Nice intensity, well chosen.

Secret distillery my ass this is clearly J. Bally. Smashingly good rum btw and the price is a steal for a brut de fut Agricole of this quality. Only 111 bottles made so scoop it up if you see it.

A top Martinique, fruity tropical fruits, tobacco and some chocolate, taste of caramel, tea and dark fruit. There is a slight leather note in the aftertaste. I like it very much. Let's see if I can get a bottle.

#6596 04.04.2026 Back home after a hard 20 km hike, where my wife was the first female at the finish line. Listening to some nice Vini Vici and Charlotte de Witte. A very good rum especially when looking at the price tag. The nose is well rounded and sweet with fruits, light wood, vanilla, light chocolate and nutts. The palate is oily with light wood, grass, sugarcane, raisin, light chocolate, citrus and light vegetal notes. The finish is long and well rounded, has natural sweetness, wood, dried fruit, nutts and light grass.

A brut de fût martiniquais in all its splendour, fruity (tropical fruits and citrus), gourmand (toffee, caramel, chocolate) and with a beautiful character (wood, tobacco, shoe polish and spices). I can't find a fault with it

Very successful agricole aroma. Nothing intrusive, but it feels very mature. Slightly earthy. The taste is heaven. Damn good. In the finish, besides the expected, there's also nutmeg. If it had less woodiness and tannins, it would be a top rum.
