The Modern Alchemist Worthy Park Cane Solo (Funky Jamaican Pure Juice Rum) WPE-CJN 2023
People can't agree where this one's from — tasters blind-guessed Clairin, South Africa, even Savanna before learning it's a white Worthy Park from cane juice. Expect grassy, vegetal funk, esters, sugarcane, citrus and a salty-olive edge. Most find it intense and a touch bitter neat, and rate it a daiquiri and cola mixer that punches well above a simple white rum.
- Well-integrated alcohol
- Grassy agricole funk
- Great in daiquiris

Funky, grassy white Worthy Park mixer Loved for its grassy, ester-driven, agricole-leaning character and well-hidden 59%. Several drink it happily neat; more agree it really shines in a daiquiri or cola. A few find it too intense or bitter on its own.

I have the L'Espri de Neisson 70% in the glass for comparison. The Neisson I have given 90 points because it is for me the best unaged rum to date. I like the Cane Solo at least as much because it achieves at least equal intensity on the nose and with 11% less alcohol! The intensity is found on the palate again with a very slight metallic note. A really cool bottling! Let's see what there is still so comes in stored variants of this substance in the next few years.

This Cane Solo is a pure rum with the funky side of Jamaican esterisé. Fresh, vegetal and fruity, it tastes pleasantly pure, with the 59% well-integrated, but it still has some kick. However, it expresses itself particularly well in fresh rum-based cocktails, especially in daiquiris, where it shines. As I'm not a big fan of daiquiris with pure juice, this is a superbly balanced, highly aromatic glass, without detracting from its freshness.

Wow. Awesome white Worthy Park with an outstanding nose. Reminds me of the Sample Seventeen White Rum. But this one is much rounder and more elegant. The alcohol is also incredibly well integrated for a white rum. Thanks to the Underdog Project for this sample, I would never have had it in my glass otherwise.

Brought from the bar Modern Alchemist in Brussels. Interesting combination, cool project, wittily staged and only 49, - euros the bottle. There you have to take one with you. On site, I initially located it to South Africa / Ghana or Haiti (Clairin), until I was enlightened. A great mix rum.

Mmh… it‘s not a bad rum… but it reminds me more of a rum from savanna than a WPE… a lot of red fruits, esters, overriped fruits, banana, everywhere 😜😎 Blind i would go straight ahead to savanna! I‘m missing the cool and typical nail polish, glue WP notes

The rum that divides opinion. All in all, it has an intense and unique taste. Sometimes I find it good and sometimes too strong. It depends on the mood of the day. I've tried it neat, in a cocktail and as a CubaLibre. It remains a unique rum with a high level of recognition.

Beautiful fruity esters, but also light yeasty and grassy notes. Beautiful complexity!

smells like a clairin, herbal, earthy, green vegetables, potatoes. A real surprise from the underdog split!

My first thought when opening the sample was... oh a strong clairin...the nose is already quite intense. The palate didn't really convince me on its own. I perceived a clear bitter note, which I didn't expect from an unaged rum... After I added a zest and a few drops of lime, the Solo showed its true potential... a wonderful aroma on the palate... I'm not convinced by it neat, but as a mixer it's great!
