Zuidam Flying Dutchman No. 3
Most tasters struggle with this one, and a few really disliked it: the nose reads heavily of solvent and ethanol, with one member comparing it to "the disinfectant they use." The palate is milder and lighter, showing wood, a little vanilla, and a sweetness from the Oloroso/port finish that tends to overshadow the young Dutch pot-still spirit underneath.
The community says- Mild on the palate
- But: Harsh solvent nose
- But: Short finish

How does Zuidam Flying Dutchman No. 3 taste?
Aggregated from 19 community reviews.
Solvent-heavy nose, mild sweet-finished palate Divisive at best. Most find the solvent-heavy nose off-putting and the finish short, though a couple noted a mild, sweet palate once you push past the ethanol.

Honestly this was a hard one for me. There is near enough no integration and it feels like a cheap brash methanol tinged spirit, the port is subtle and adds an element of sweetness on the mouth and the nose non descript. I have had worse rums but not many of this style with such good intentions. Zuidam do make some great rums, this in my view is just not one of them

The 6 PX has just a bit more raisin/sweet/coffee and chocolate notes which is very nice

Tasted 24-12-2022 Nosing Smells like scotch, oats and raisins Tasting Mellow malt barley and chocolate rice Krispies This is a weird experiment that smells so Ethanol it's hard to get past but then just smacks the face with sweetness . It's diplomatic style sweet.

Very unpleasant odor that reminds me of the SBS Guyana PM. Kind of like olives and solvents. However, the taste is not as strong and rather mild. You can taste the Oloroso finish rather than the rum. Short finish. Not really my cup of tea. Somehow difficult to categorize.
