Here's the twist: for a Port Mourant, this one skips the thick, oily heaviness and leans fresher and lighter. What you get instead is dry oak, big anise and licorice, marzipan, herbal notes and pale yellow fruit. Several tasters found it "schön rund" and harmonious, but a few felt it lacked the extra spark of the wildest PMs. Give it plenty of time in the glass to open up.

#5210 06.04.2025 Running through some samples while relaxing with the movie Mickey 17. Nose Medium intense, wood, light roasted, fruits, light herbal, light licorice, dried fruit, light plum. Palate Medium intense, oily, wood, light roasted, light spicy, warm, fruits, light plum, light raisin, faint leather, light tobacco, faint coconut, light licorice. Finish Long and warm, oily, prunes, licorice, light raisin, faint coconut, light tobacco. Empty glass Prunes, light chocolate, light caramel, faint nutts. Needs to rest for a good while to really open up properly.

Long matured, continental PM - but without any big surprises. Aniseed, licorice, vanilla, yellow fruits, tea and sweetness with some wood on the nose ... then fennel on the palate and a little salty. I think I was expecting a little more.

By now I have to say I like this 91 Uitvlugt from Guyana. In my opinion, this one is again nicely round and complex. The alcohol is well integrated and makes it very drinkable. Still, I found some other bottlings much more exciting because it lacks that certain extra, so to speak the icing on the cake.

The dry woodiness with the lush anise and herbal notes and the bright, yellow fruits certainly need quite some time in the glass to fully develop, but the harmony that sets in is really a fine thing. Even if it doesn't go all out here, I really like this 1991 MPM.

Very pleasant port mourant.. the friend Bear from this bottler is a bit better, but this is still a beautiful example of PM from that vintage.. I personally find a bit of iodine in the taste and smell, which I like in rums from PM

02-03-2024 Tasted at Whiskymessen.dk Fifth rum was this amazing Port Mourant. One of RDL’s better bottles. I like the younger fresher expression that Port Mourant has where Enmore and Versailles for example are more thick, oily juices with a totally different expression. This Port Mourant was very good 👍🏻🥃
