Berry Bros & Rudd Diamond Guyana Rum 2013
Made for people who like their Demerara aged, dry and a little medicinal. Ten years of continental aging shows: varnished old wood, prune and raisin, licorice, a squeeze of orange, and an oily smoke that lingers. At 63.5% it needs a good rest in the glass and rewards a few drops of water. One taster caught chocolate and smoke in the empty glass.

How does Berry Bros & Rudd Diamond Guyana Rum 2013 taste?
Summarized by AI from community reviews.
Dry, woody Guyana with licorice and smoke Most tasters rate it high and land on the same word — balanced. The wood stays in check, the licorice freshens it; if smoke bothers you, this one leans that way.

A rum tasted at the WLP and in the Rum Friendly Club advent calendar in 2025. A nose of varnished wood and old leather, some dried fruits, vegetal notes. The palate is surprisingly lively and the aromas are deep, casks and leather, prune. The finish is long on old wood and leather.

Unfortunately, it didn't quite convince me. Viewed neutrally, the DNA from Guyana is recognizable, the only thing that personally bothers me are these whisky/peat/smoke notes, which I don't really like. That keeps it from getting a better rating.

Diamond well balanced, the woodiness is not overpowering, the aromas lean towards rather warm and pleasant notes of dried fruit, licorice, orange. Note a certain medicinal and smoky aspect.

#4148 LMDW picked a nice cask here. The price is a bit high but overall OK I think. A well balanced rum once rested for a good while. Nice dried fruits mixed with spices and some caramel. I like the medicinal note and licorice in the profile because it somehow freshens it up. Draws really nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass has some smoke and chocolate to it.

8,6:On the nose, green fruits, banana, slightly fermented, dried fruits like raisins, toasted oak notes like chocolate, caramel, spicy with vanilla, cardamom, anise, medicinal with varnish, menthol hints, floral molasses, grassy with hay, slightly pungent, vegetal with red bell peppers, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, PM notes free place for Diamond with roasted wood and nuts, pastry, leather, smoky, dark molasses with licorice, sweet with honey, medicinal with rubber, the fruits are candied, dried with prunes, apricots, figs, complex, as it shows 2 faces of this rum. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is sweet&salty, whisky hints arise with peat, iodine, the wood is roasted with leather, dark chocolate, spicy with vanilla, anise, cardamom, the fruits are dried with raisins and apricots, prunes, tropical with banana, green, citrus and the molasses is sweet with honey, dark with licorice, vegetal with red bell peppers.PM and Diamond, hand in hand. 8,5:The finish is long, dry&tannic with toasted wood, spicy, smoky, medicinal, fruity with dried, citrus fruits, the molasses is earthy, floral, sweet with honey, dark with licorice, slightly peated.

Interesting Guyana. Quite caramel sweet and after peaty whisky?

Tasted at WLP 2026. Pleasant rum. Price point for a bottle is definitely too high not worth more than 100 euros.
