T.D.L Plantation Trinidad (Sauternes Wine Cask) 2011

6.8/10
Rated by X-Savior, ZeroCool & 12 more

Sip it neat or on ice and the white wine takes over: sweet grapes, a little floral lift, mild oak, with the Sauternes cask doing most of the talking. Several tasters say it barely reads as rum at all. The catch is the alcohol shows through with a mild burn, and a few found it watery. Mixed it mostly washes out, so keep it in the glass.

On The Rocks: On the nose you get moderate sweet white wine notes with mild fruit, floral and very mild oak notes. Taste reveals moderate sweet white wine notes with fruit and floral notes with alcohol and mild burn presence. The finish is long with the sweet white wine fades away and slowly returns to eventually fading out. This is a very unique, enjoyable and special rum. It is actually hard to believe that you are even drinking rum with this one. Mixed Pepsi Zero: On the nose it has a very mild sweetness of grapes. Taste reveals a strong white wine sweetness shining through into a medium finish that evolves into a slightly bitter taste. This is still enjoyable mixed but i believe it deserves an unmixed experience.
