Most helpful positive review
The REVs actually continue to gain with increasing age. Compared to other releases a little less intense on the characteristic dried plum aroma, but with much more aromatic complexity by very present, but not exuberant wood influence, a slight floral impact and gallant spicy notes, which put the heavy sweetness a very appealing counterpart. Excellent release.

A rum that leaves me conflicted: great creamy mouthfeel with lots of plum, but the finish is way too bitter for me, even though it fades and the plum returns in the aftertaste. For me personally, it spent too long in the barrel.

Powerful and complex bottling with the typical deep sweetness and intense fruit notes, primarily ripe plum. The wood is present, giving structure but remains well integrated. A prime example of the REV style from 1994, impressive without exaggeration.

#4175 When you do things then do the right and in my mind Distilia hit the nail with this one. We also sampled a future release and it was a tad better than this one actuly. Lovely profile with very good balance between the roasted wood and fruits. ABV super well integrated and a warm palate with an even longer finish.

A heavy and dark Enmore with powerful roasted, woody and spicy aromas. Cocoa, oak, leather, and licorice form a deep and structured body. Dried fruits round the edges, while floral scents and herbal notes on thyme add depth and complexity. A profile that delights the nostrils. On the palate, the years of aging reveal an ultra-dark and woody rum, dominated by bitter cocoa notes, tannins, warm spices, and old leather, all on a base of roasted and smoky notes. The dried fruits are eclipsed, while floral and aromatic herbs struggle to find a place. The alcohol is very well integrated in this elegant, powerful profile marked by aging. The finish returns with powerful smoky and roasted notes leading to burnt sugar, with tannins, a bunch of spices, and a dry and intense woodiness. Chocolate, leather, and licorice amplify the bitterness supporting the tannins. The floral and fruity notes show their noses with a bit more liveliness as well. A delicious rum, but also a very nice selection from Distilia.

Excellent REV. Proportionately powerful, beautiful complexity, top balance between the woody notes from the maturation and the diverse fruit notes. Tropical fruits, also raisins and plums, slightly smoky toasted, spices such as mace and subtle cardamom. Great! Crosstasting 2025 - Guyana REV 1994 Vintage After ten tastings, we can say that you can't go wrong with REV 1994. The vintage stands for consistently high quality and is a real flagship for Guyana rum. Versatile, deep and full of character. The basic markers (plum, leather, licorice, dark chocolate and black tea) can be found in varying degrees in all bottlings. Conclusion: The REV 1994 vintage shows the range of Demerara rum: from creamy-sweet to smoky-roasted to complex-dry. Despite the different styles of the bottlers, the core remains clearly recognizable. An outstanding year that demonstrates great class. However, the tasting was challenging, as the roasted aromas dominated the bouquet over time and I had to take breaks to appreciate the subtle differences. Distilia REV 1994 A noble and complex profile. Classic markers with floral notes and distinct chocolate. Caramel sweetness and creamy texture, contrasting with toasty-malty accents. Multi-layered and elegant - happens a lot in the mouth.

9,2:On the nose, the first impression is top, with wood perfectly pairing fruits, as we have variety of brown roasted wood notes like leather, Cola, dark chocolate, coffee and roasted nuts in perfect balance with red and dried fruits, especially prunes. On aeration, caramelized notes, cocoa might be recognized, some spice with vanilla, citrus fruits and after long rest, tannins and flowery molasses. 8,8:On the palate, the attack is tasty with roasted wood notes, smoky, creamy with caramel, walnuts, leather, quite spicy, fruity with prunes, dried figs, slightly tannic and herbaceous. On oxidation, more fruits arise with citrus, raisins and grapes,flowery molasses, slightly dark with licorice and a hint of sap.We could notice strong oak presence, burnt, the chocolate is very dark. 8,9:The finish is long, dry and tannic, slightly metallic, strong barrel touch, with notes from the palate lingering on and a very delicious caramelized Demerara sugar, herbaceous molasses. On the nose again a great 1994 REV. On the palate initially very tasty as well, but then with a woodiness that turns bitter. In the finish again too much wood for my taste and in the background a slight violet note that I find disturbing in almost all REVs. Overall I find the rum somewhat worse than the REVs tasted so far, as the palate is less intense except for the wood influence. Addendum: Tasted the rum again today and I have to raise the rating. Firstly, I have come to love the profile and secondly, I now find the wood influence appropriate.

The nose is heavy and deep, with varnished wood, old worn leather and smokiness, as well as hints of bitter herbs. The palate, after the burn of alcohol, appears without heaviness, almost with freshness, no doubt thanks to the bitter herbs. The finish is super-long and harmonious. A great rum! The alcohol is slightly burning, but I'm quibbling. Like a taste of licorice on the finish. A Versailles with notes of bitter herbs and pencil lead on the finish.

Very nice on the nose! Compared to other bottlings this one feels almost „sweet“ showing a very nice balance between fruity and dark, woody notes. While the nose is exceptional, palate is also very nice and ahead of some of other (later) 94 REV bottlings. Howver, for me it is not quite the very top notch bottling I expected from the nose. Still very nice though - no doubt.

Very cool REV ... I'm glad I saved this one from the rarities tasting in August ... now is the better time of year for REVs after all This one is at a very high level and tastes really good to me. Not a plum bomb but rich in everything else. Intense and heavy, as it should be, but still fresh and floral. In comparison, probably the best REV I have tasted.

A very fine drop! Once again an absolute REV grenade. I like this REV profile better from time to time. Alcohol super integrated. I gave it just under an hour in a covered glass and it was hard to wait, but it was absolutely worth it.

Absolutely brilliant and heavy REV. The combination of woody, roasted and nutty aromas with dried fruits such as plums accompanies you from start to finish. Alcohol could not be better integrated. An absolute treat for the palate :)

Dégusté lors d’une soirée de fin d’été » (28/08/25) « Riche et intense » - Robe sombre et profonde. - Nez sur la vanille, le far Breton aux pruneaux, les fruits secs (La noisette), le chocolat, c’est très gourmand très rond, nez réconfortant et l’alcool est complètement fondu. - La bouche, l’attaque est douce et suave, puis vient le milieu de bouche et l’intensité ! Avec une dominante de chocolat amère, la même sensation qu’après la dégustation d’un chocolat noir 90%, le boisé, la richesse des saveurs. Un univers de saveurs réconfortantes. - La finale est très très longue… avec toujours ses notes de chocolat amère, l’ouverture amène également le grué de cacao qui amène de la rondeur. Un rhum à découvrir absolument !

Really fine nose. Besides roasted aromas also something perfumed/floral, black tea and chocolate. Also on the palate a surprisingly floral/florid start for me, which is then replaced by heavy/roasted aromas, plus dried plum, licorice and spices. Overall very good, although the floral touch is a bit too much for me.

Great Enmore. On the nose, first red fruits... dried fruits with a slight acidity. Alcohol is perfectly integrated. On the palate, dried fruits, chocolate, strong influence from the wood (tannins, bitter substances). Very smooth with top integrated alcohol also on the palate.

Very big enmore, with all the usual markers, great depth. Fruity, woody, warm, very round and easy to drink. Perhaps a little too easy and a not-so-long finish that prevented me from giving it a 9! In any case, a real pleasure the rumx rarities 11. Thanks Oliver and the team!

That is a nice one. Nose is great, besides the expected notes I also find some Port wine there. Palate is more herbal and smokey, prunes less pronounced. The finish brings back some sweetness, tad shorter than expected. Would rate it slightly behind the RA.

Another excellent old Enmore! Complex with beautiful aromas of candied prunes, old leather, a dark and well-integrated woodiness, a caramelized hint. Alcohol well integrated. Really excellent.

Awesome! An incredible array of aromas and depth! Dense aromas of wood, dried plum, leather, nuts and dark chocolate flow into the nose. Then cola, red fruits (very faintly cherry), coffee, roasted aromas and well-burnt caramel. On the palate, the aromatics and intensity hit me with the expected strength. Wood, licorice, leather, dried plum and roasted nuts transition into dove, oak, raisins and spicy smoky notes. This now ends with herbs and tannins. The finish is very long and equally complex. Wood, dried fruits, strong cask, leather and spices come forward. Then dark chocolate, roasted notes, anise and tannins make an interesting finale and show once again how seductive and demanding an old Guyana Enmore can be. A real blockbuster! Thanks for the great sample.

Complex heavy woody profile. At first the old polished wood is most present and there’s quite some bitterness to it. After a while that evens out and the dried fruits come forward. There’s a dark bitter chocolate note with violet/lavender in the back that I really enjoyed, after an hour in the glass or so. The finish keeps on going, with a hint of anise at the very end. Excellent rum, for dark evenings, every once in a while.

Prune, cola, wood and a bit burnt. But very pleasant with it. Very nice in the wood, dark chocolate and some licorice mint. Super nicely balanced, alcohol very round. Wow.

Colour of cofee Nose: Typical dark notes of coffee, chocolate, leather, roasted and lightly burnt. However it is not that heavy and dense as I expected but also somewhat fresh with vegetal notes, light mint, light cola. Also dried fruit especially apricots and plums are present amd of course wood. Taste: strong but pleasant bitter notes of coffee and dark chocolate. Old leather suitcase. Dried fruit and warm baking spices also present. I have a light watery feeling but I don't mind. Spicy and herbal aftertaste with licorice which also stays in the empty glass. Superb old REV Edit: with every retaste I like this (En)more and (En)more. The cola note in the nose seems to be more dominant compared to when I opened the bottle. Cola notes drive me crazy. Yummy. The aftertaste seems to me more pleasantly charred now.

Incredible power and complexity on the nose. Hay, vanilla bean, tea, prunes, wood and spice. The palate is truly round, with a hint of Far Breton with prunes, black tea and an interminable finish of dark chocolate, cocoa nibs and prunes. Great rum!

Rum Rarities #11: Great REV, which comes along fresh and very balanced despite the high age. The intensity is the only weak point, otherwise an even higher rating would be possible.

Very intense Enmore. A heavy distillate with a strong exposure to wood, spices, and heavy sweetness. On the nose eucalyptus, burnt demerara sugar, thick molasses, caramel, dried plums, wet tobacco, and red fruits, including tropical fruits and sour cherries. The whole crowned with coffee, cocoa, and spices. On the palate concentrated bitter-sour with a lot of oak and spices, sour tropical fruits - guava, persimmon, kumquat; dried and smoked plums, heavy sweetness of burnt demerara sugar, cigar smoke, cocoa, and thick molasses. The finish is long, warming, and pleasant, with a dominance of spices and sweet, roasted nuts. A wonderful example of heavy Demerara. Enmore REV from one of the best vintages. Intense, concentrated, and woody-spicy-eucalyptus-tropical.
