Overripe banana, pineapple, glue and solvent lead, with a Sherry-cask sweetness papering over the three-month age. Baked apple, vanilla and roasted wood on the long, estery finish. 21.06.2025 Retasting and I stick to my score. ----------- #4179 This is the latest release from Romdeluxe and I like this kind of profile. Fresh and medium fruity with some esters and light wood. ABV is very well integrated and the profile well balanced. The price can be argued though for such a young rum.

Fair rating Great stuff. As always with RdL, the alcohol is excellently integrated and therefore easy to drink despite the ultra-high %. However, the price for storage is completely absurd. I can no longer include the price in the rating as it would not do justice to the rum. But I can only advise against buying it. In the big TECA/C comparison, this unfortunately falls somewhat short.

First look at the sample… Buh 85%, that‘s huge, but at the end of the day very drinkable. Very spicy in the nose, a lot of fruits, sherry notes and esters. I think there‘s a taste of baked apple too😅 In mouth you can find the same notes, but due the very good integration of the alcohol you can enjoy it „easily“ 😜🤣 The finish is quite long, estery and fruity, without being astringend or pungent.

So on International Rum Day (yes, today, August 16th!), it has to be something that sailors who know all the tricks would like to drink. Yes, the saying "If it's too strong, you're too weak" really applies here. I like the wonderful smell of spicy autumn fire on the nose and the smooth, oily feel on the palate. And yes, you can easily drink this rum neat without water and even taste something - rosehips? That's what I call a real rum!

8,4:On the nose, esters, intense, funky, solvents, nail polish and petrol, alcoholic, tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, raisins and grapes, roasted wood notes with pastry, biscuits, spicy with allspice, grassy molasses, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the rum is round, balanced, buttery with vanilla, nuts, caramel, flowery, vegetal molasses (olive), hint of a yoghurt and citrus fruits. 8,3:On the palate, the attack is strong, intense, alcoholic, slightly astringent with fermented tropical fruits with pineapple, banana, later grapes, medicinal notes like phenol and esters, roasted wood notes, a bit smoky with crunchy bread, caramel, bacon, baked apples, spicy with vanilla. When aired a bit, briny olive is out, fresh and grassy molasses, dried fruits. 8,3:The finish is rather long, intense, slightly astringent, dry with roasted wood notes, smoky and spicy, pairing medicinal notes, grassy(hay), vegetal molasses and overripe tropical fruits, a bit rotten, so slightly pungeant. Cool to try and quite tasty. But I prefer proper aging. What’s coming next year? 3 weeks and 4 hours? Or the unaged one with a bag of wood chips for 200 euros?

Tasted at the 12th GRF I think this was the most eagerly awaited bottling. It doesn't come close to the Hampden from 2022, but the alcohol is also very well integrated here and I like the TECC profile anyway. The price is actually an outrage for a practically unaged rum. I bought a bottle anyway 🤪 If I included the price in the rating, it would only be 6.5 I don't want to know how much a TECC from RDL should cost when it's a few years old...

Tasted at the 12th GRF in Berlin: 85%, short storage, TECC - you know what's coming. It delivers what it promises, but is also quite pleasant. For me, however, it's a rum that I don't see any use for. Just exciting to try neat, borderline for drinks without delivering much complexity. But it will also find its fans.

Well, for this high ABV, the alcohol is well integrated, but still very alcoholic, but you don't go blind from it. Nevertheless, I wasn't really impressed by it. If I ignore the somewhat exaggerated price, it still doesn't make it into the very good category. With price influence, it would end up in the outrageous category.

Great Long Pond, even though you can of course notice the high alcohol content. Otherwise a nice Jamaican, lots of esters, but also overripe tropical fruits are recognizable. Also some solvent notes are detectable.

Brought a small 1cl sample of 12. GRF. I already respect the 85.3%, especially on the nose 😬 Nose: really intense. Careful smelling is advised. But then all nuances come out well. Buttery and creamy with solid but not too harsh esters. You can tell it’s still very young, but the sherry cask has clearly changed it. This gives it a strange artificial sweetness, almost like liquid butter mixed with sugar syrup or cotton candy. Or also cream toffee. But it’s also fruity, banana with papaya. Definitely interesting. 7.9 Palate: very intense, slightly astringent at the start. Here too the high ABV makes the sip very creamy. Then comes the typical for young high ester: something vegetal, almost red pepper and fermented honeydew melon. Oh, now apple comes in, but with vanilla and cinnamon, like a baked apple. Nice. That could come from the sherry. Baked apple also stays long in the finish along with banana and esters. 8.1 Definitely a well-drinkable rum despite high ABV. The young age is cleverly shaped by the sherry. Price-performance ratio however rather unfavorable.

The shoebill - funny bird, but for marketing purposes, in my opinion, it doesn't make a 200€ rum - which very well describes the problem of this rum. Really tasty - tastes like fruity Hampden with a lot of sherry cask influence - I would never have guessed LongPond here in my life. Without a doubt tasty and exciting, but 200 bucks - no! The aromas unfold very delicately and fruitily despite its youth, complex - with the sweetness you could almost think that wet sherry casks, where the apprentice forgot to empty them completely, are in trend and at the same time cleverly cover up the lack of maturity of the still quite young original distillate - worked great with Ghana too - but 200€ is cheeky. Although with the light color at least no completely wet, moist, half-filled cask was used.

Who would have thought I'd say this. But sometimes there can be too much alcohol 😅 Like with this one. About 8 to 9 percent less would have done it quite well, I think.

Nice to have tried it, but that's it. Surprisingly drinkable for 85.3%, still the alcohol is very present. Plus the sherry cask note, esters, fruity. The vintage will surely become more interesting with longer aging.

Flavor explosion with 85% to start at noon. Intense stuff! Still tasty and reasonably well integrated, would probably make a great mixer due to the intensity. But at that price...

Brontales taste experience. Aside from sheer intensity, the flavor profile doesn't really grab me, the sherry notes don't optimally complement the esters, the complexity also leaves something to be desired. And the price is of course an absolute cheek.

This rum puts a a banana on your face with first whiffs of the ester aroma. On taste very creamy and well integrated. Considered buying a bottle, but given intensity would probably never finish 70cl.

On the nose: Funky, intense, tropical fruits, vanilla notes and sherry cask notes. Little bit of floral notes in the background. Taste: Fruity, warm, esters, fermented notes, light grape notes, sherrycask notes but doesn't overtake the palate. Vanilla notes. Hints of sugarcane notes on the background? For a 85 abv rum the alcohol is integrated very well. Finish: Warm, light grassy notes, light sherry notes, light woody notes. Light banana notes. Dry and long finish . Was expecting a punch in the face because of the very high abv, but this was surprisingly enjoyable to drink. The sherry notes didn't overtake the palate and quite balanced rum.

Phew, intense. You have to love high ester, sure, but here it comes so disgustingly intense. Probably only very few people like it. But nobody buys it who doesn't know what it is 😅.

Even though we don't usually do this, we still deduct points for the price. The relocated variant already hits with a decent price. However, the short finish then doubles the price, which we feel is absolutely not justified.
