Blind Tasting 01.02.2024, 4th rum Nose: Wow, this is a powerhouse that can barely walk on power! But it is so superficially brute that it almost comes across as cheap, the Rummelboxer type. But what does such a coarse type have to do with fine notes of sherry and glue? Obviously a lot here! Palate: Tiieef and dark, but I don't taste any malt or leather, so it's probably not an Enmore on steroids, but what then, a Foursquare? Toni, who is sitting next to me, guesses the Foursquare from Schotman's (RX13210). Yes, it clicks for me too, that must be it! Solution: Surprise! Not Schotman's, but even better: Tres Hombres - with an Oloroso finish! I really like it. 2nd place out of 8 blind-tasted rums that evening.

Second tasting: The nose is 1a Foursquare reference. The typical markers are very clear and distinct. The alcohol is also perfectly integrated. On the palate, I find a seamless continuation of the impressions from the nose plus gentle roasted aromas. In the finish, the sweetness disappears almost completely and makes way for harmonious roasted and barrel notes I'm not usually easily impressed by Foursquare, but this has at least the quality of the ECS bottlings. A very good, sweet representative from the Foursquare Distillery and a wonderful easy sipper. Tasted at the 12th GRF Very good Foursquare! Unfortunately only available as a 1-liter bottle and therefore quite expensive in absolute terms, but attractive in relation to the quantity and above all the quality on offer. A must for Foursquare fans!

Wow, a really great rum. A really great nose. Beautifully roasted, with vanilla and bourbon also coming to the fore. Really delicious on the palate. Chocolate, vanilla and nicely roasted. Also slightly woody. Alcohol well integrated.

Beautiful tropical notes with glue, but the finish comes through clearly, almost a little overloaded.
Review by Mentalo
The alcohol is still quite present at the beginning. Needs some time in the glass. Then brings a relatively high level of sweetness. Notes of raisin and dark chocolate. More woody notes in the finish. The sherry finish is clearly noticeable and somewhat overpowering. It did not remind me of Foursquare.

There was a Foursquare glue note on the nose, followed by beautifully dried fruit. Very intense on the palate, dried fruit, chocolate, some raisin, roasted and woody notes. I didn't come across Barbados in the blind tasting.

Very nice Foursquare. Vanilla, wood, milk chocolate.
