This is a Bielle agricole that doesn't shout "cane" — floral and citrusy up front, then caramel, toffee and a woody, spicy backbone that several tasters found unusually rich for a 7-year-old. Fans of the distillery keep restocking it. The 56.2% is well integrated, if a touch sharp on the finish for a few.

In comparison, it received the better rating against the RX12786. This is much more pleasing. Tasted at the Franconian Tasting Gang goes Tiki. Thanks to Jarek who opened both bottles especially for the tasting.

Freshness, citrus fruits, a hint of licorice, sugary. In the mouth full blast citrus fruits, licorice and pepper. Very good finish. A young, fresh Bielle with lots of citrus fruits and very nice spice notes. Very good, but I wouldn't need a bottle of it.

A rum tasted at the WLP. The nose is herbaceous, fresh and slightly lemony. The palate is still on lemon and other citrus fruits with bitter herbs. The finish is long with fruit and herbaceous notes.

An Agricole, but again with lots of sweets and deep barrel notes on the nose! Tends to be dry and spicy on the palate, but with sweet caramel and subtle fruit, which makes it more complex and balanced. Barrel aromas linger for a long time, but so does a spicy heat.

Very tasty, alcohol much better integrated than in the Bologne Flora Antillarum tasted at the same time. Second tasting in Flo's cellar: Nose still a bit too much like shit COVID, but I still like it better than last time.

Great Agricole from the house of Rasta Moris. There's another point for that. They simply have what it takes. Alcohol is perfectly integrated. Nice rough edges, fruity, wood etc. Not necessarily recognizable as an Agricole, I'll order a bottle right away...

On the nose floral with caramel and vanilla. Relatively gentle on the nose. On the palate allspice as well as peppery. I can also taste a bit of cloves. The finish lasts quite a while. All in all not quite my thing.

Asta Morris has bottled yet another Bielle that once again delivers on all its promises. The nose alternates between wood and spice on one side, floral notes of sugarcane on the other, and sweeter notes of fruit, toffee and caramel. A balanced nose with a lovely roundness. The attack on the palate presents the same woody, spicy and sweet contrast, but the fruit takes on a greater dimension. Tropical fruit, dried fruit and citrus follow, followed by tobacco and a hint of earth. Dangerously easy to drink, the alcohol is very well integrated. The finish is of decent length, with spices dominating over grass, dried fruit, citrus and sweet notes. There's a comforting sensation of warmth on the palate. A very good Bielle, in the tradition of Asta Morris.

10/09/23: tasted @ Spiritsfestival Kempenland Geel. This was one of my first experiences with a Bielle, and it was a rather pleasant one. I like the flavour profile, too bad that these rums are usually rather expensive.

Tasted at SITS ‘25. The aroma boasts a fun combination of both heavy and youthful elements. Starts with the lighter sugars, sour berries, ginger-citrus tea and floral notes. Then immediately challenged by dark, deep wafts of black coffee, blackened sugar and pimento. In the mouth a story of coming of age. Flowery and fresh, yet composed with lots of black tea, winter spice and a hint of tree bark. The alcohol still stings a bit here. The experience is remarkably short. Ends in bitter coffee, vanilla bean, black chocolate and another cameo of ginger tea. Drunk immediately after the 20yo big brother and despite everything that’s right and wrong with both bottlings, the difference is just not big enough for me personally.

On the nose, floral freshness meets typical Bielle sugarcane, subtle citrus notes, and noble wood spice. Palate: Powerful start, the 56.2% ABV isn’t perfect but well integrated. Nice balance of fruitiness and spicy oak notes. Surprisingly harmonious for its age. Finish: Long-lasting, woody-sweet, and very characterful. Conclusion: A really good one, Rasta Morris. If you like Bielle, you'll love this exclusive bottling.

Bielle 7 years (2015) – 56.2% – Cask RM030 Bielle 20 years (2002) – 49.4% – Cask RM029 Nose The 7-year opens with a very indulgent caramel and a hint of licorice. It’s rich, complex, almost like a candy. A few moments later, exotic fruits appear: banana, passion fruit… The 20-year takes all that even further, with a superb persistent aniseed note that I love, and a touch of gunpowder with smoky accents. Magnificent. Palate It’s dense, balanced, perfectly integrated. All softness, no aggressiveness at all. The caramel from the nose comes back immediately, accompanied by very ripe fruits. A real concentrated fruit salad, with a freshness and a very pleasant length on the aged cane. Hard not to enjoy these rums. Personally, I preferred the nose to the palate, but what a delight! That said, they remain below the mythical Bielle 16 years 2002 – 49.3% – Cask RM011, which remains to this day the most beautiful agricole nose I’ve ever had in a glass.
