Squadron 303 Aviator Style Rum - The Pacific Ace
If you want a rum that doesn't taste like every other rum, this is one to try. Heavy smoke almost peaty, dominates the nose alongside an unusual sandalwood-incense note that divides people fast. Underneath sit tropical fruit, caramel and a light funk. A few tasters find the smoke suffocating; others love the peaty finish. Original and full of personality, if a little short on finesse.

Review by TheRhumhoe
A pretty bottle for a blend that wants to be as soft as it is characterful. The nose is quite eclectic, with light funky notes and tropical fruits, but above all with a strong empyreumatic influence, like a thick smoke that embraces the nostrils. Sandalwood stands out and reinforces this impression. An atypical profile. The attack on the palate confirms the nose with an almost suffocating smoky imprint. The woody and smoky side covers the palate, leaving room only for grilled coconut, spices and some exotic fruits. Too bad you can feel the dilution at 45%. The finish is no exception, with smoky, woody and fruity notes, some esters, caramel and tannins. An original rum with personality, but lacking a bit of charm, finesse and depth to be ranked higher.

Nice packaging for this bottle. The nose is first very smoky, almost peaty. An uncommon scent like sandalwood, almost incense. Also wood, vanilla, exotic fruits. It's at least expressive. On the palate, a rich and sweet texture. Significant peat. Discreet fruits. Caramel. The sugar and thickness almost give an impression of mashed banana. Average finish. Too smoky, too peaty, too sweet. A pity because there was an idea. Maybe worth trying chilled.
