People who want an easy, wood-forward agricole without the grassy bite will feel at home here. Six years in cask gives it vanilla, dried apricot and a cognac-like prune note, with banana and citrus underneath. Several tasters call it a Guadeloupe rum that "se boit tout seul" — pleasant, a touch sweet, but simple, with a finish that fades fast.

One of the best value-for-money on the market. The roundness of an XO while letting the cane express itself. It's the new bottling (since the distillery closure) but remains very similar to the old one I loved. Smells like candy and pastries. On the palate, spices and fruits become more present with vanilla, coffee, yellow fruits and melon. All with a very fine wood. No false notes but not an exceptional rum either.

Original impressions from 2017 rum calendar. Nose: ** Taste: * Overall: ** ”45% Guadeloupe” Having tried this again there is a strong tobacco/leathery scent on the nose along with some vanilla, banana and an alcoholic resemblance to cognac. The nose is better than the palate, here I only get the smoky woody taste and none of the fruity flavours the nose hinted at.

I’m a fan of Agricole from Guadeloupe and this one is not an exception, but it can’t compete with the best ones. The nose is fruity and woody with scents of banana, citrus and vanilla. At the palate it’s sweet, fruity, spicy, woody, fresh and round with flavors of banana, citrus and vanilla. The finish is quite long, dry and spicy.

A very nice rum, I like it. On the nose mostly woody and barrel-scented, but also some vanilla can be detected. On the palate somehow a dark rum, wood, as well as spicy and smoky, but also dark chocolate is recognizable.

Very vegetal, the cane remains very present, which is surprising for an XO by the way. In the end it lacks a bit of complexity. It's not bad but nothing special.

Here you get what you pay for. Fruity and sweet with spices and lightly roasted wood. I would probably use this one for mixers and baking.

Arf, nice nose with a little cognac pear that pleases, palate a bit simple but effective, however the finish is super short. Quickly gives an impression of a somewhat flat rum without much interest... not much was missing!

Didn't come in expecting much, but for my palette this is fantastic. A strong fruity aroma followed by a soft fruity taste and finish. Only negative I can think of is that it's too sweet.

On the nose, it's light with fruit (tropical and others), tobacco, milk chocolate, slightly toasted barrel. On the palate, fruity upfront, then some medicinal notes, some spices, slightly woody and floral on the short finish. You can feel the dilution, it lacks enough character, but it's pleasant to drink. In the empty glass, fruit and wood.

A Guadeloupean a bit lean compared to others. A nice relatively soft woodiness and a very pleasant sweetness. A fairly simple agricole without headaches that drinks by itself 🙂
