This Longueteau Genesis Blanc batch 4 from the Esperance distillery in Guadeloupe is produced from red cane, grown on plot No. 9 at the habitation. It’s from the 2020 harvest and has rested for 2 years and some months after its distillation in a stainless tank aerated regularly. Thereafter is this brut de colonne bottled without any reduction at 73,8% in 5000 bottles. The nose is powerful, round, fruity and a bit medicinal with scents of pepper, salt and iodine. At the palate it’s complex, fresh, acidic and a little bitter with flavors of salt, lemon, lime zest and raspberry. The finish is long, fresh and dry with flavors of herbs, pepper, licorice and raspberry. Overall one of the best Agricole Blanc I’ve tasted so far.

Well, this Longueteau is no laughing matter! It's a real powerhouse, with a nervous, taut nose of citrus, cane and classic agricultural aromas (vegetal greenery, floral notes, grass) and peppery spices that quiver and tremble impatiently in the nostrils. You can tell there's plenty under the hood. The result is immediate: while the first few seconds are surprisingly mellow with the vesuvius, the explosion really does permeate the mouth with intense, spicy heat. The raw product in its purest form. The flavors are very prominent, even on a nano-gorge: citrus (lemon) and greenery are very powerful. A profile to be approached with caution and parsimony. The finish is no exception: dry, powerful, intensely agricultural, but quickly counterbalanced by an alcohol burn. Pimento, lemon and orange zest share an anesthetized palate to restore some flavor. A rum to be approached with caution to avoid oral depucellation.

#5353 27.05.2025 Enjoying some samples at home while watching the secret of the Khufu Pyramid. Nose Intense, balanced, sugarcane, light grass, Agricole, light floral, light citrus. Palate Oily, intense, balanced, fruity, Agricole, light citrus, sugarcane, light grass, faint herbs, light anise. Finish Very long and warm, medium intense, oily, naturally sweet, fruits, light lemon, sugarcane, light berries. Empty glass Berries, herbs, sugarcane, light citrus, light cheese, light licorice.

74 laBdR June 2023. 65 barrel. Impressive: very powerful, fatty, and good! It heats up - it heats up, and it's good - it's good! Nose: very fresh cane and lemon, you don't really feel the alcohol, very soft, seems barely a 50dg (a very good one). Mouth: now it seriously heats up! but a delight. Very fatty, explosion of flavors, fruity, citrus, not bitter, nice success. Long length, soft on the fresh cane.

The first time I tasted this rum at a tasting evening in my cash wine store, the first sip blew me away, I didn't feel like I was drinking a white rum, caramel, lemon zest, it's gourmand and so powerful... maybe even too much, this column still is very very strong but so surprising.

Just impressive! Aromatic intensity like I've rarely tasted. Extremely complex, with power at the start, which then opens up on the palate with notes of banana, exotic fruit and sugar cane! With a warmth that rises to a crescendo on the palate. The long, slightly saline finish balances everything out. To be enjoyed in small, gentle sips.

What a pleasure to find this Genesis a bit less expressive than the 2000! Clear sugarcane nose and another trip to the French Antilles! Full mouth on the cane again and a slight herbal touch that brings a little bitterness. Average finish on the cane.

#6045 07.12.2025 Second to last set of samples I received the other day. Been a long run but someone has got to do it. Nose Intense, fresh, fruity, light floral, faint medicinal, light herbal, light anise, olive, citrus. Palate Intense, peppery, warm, fruits, citrus, light anise, olive, light salt, light tobacco. Finish Very long and warm, oily, citrus, peppery, light anise, olive. Empty glass Olive, clove, light licorice, citrus, faint smoke. Needs to rest for a while to settle properly or you add a few drops of water.

A fire of God. Its title of Brut de Colonnes is a real surprise. Notes of banana, sugar cane, and after the fire of this high degree of alcohol, a roundness of fruit and floral, happy to be one of the 5000 to be able to re-discover it over the next few tastings.
