TRC Worthy Park Jamaica WP (10 Years Anniversary-Bottling No. 1) 2018

Most tasters land in the same place: a young Worthy Park pot-still finished in a Hampden DOK cask, giving you banana and pineapple funk over honey, esters and young wood. A few call it "tasty, sweet and approachable," while others find it a touch rough and hot for its five years. The DOK finish shows more on the nose than the palate.

The community says
  • Banana-pineapple funk
  • Great value
  • Keep in mind: Alcohol slightly hot

8,4:On the nose, the first impression we get are fermented, overripe tropical fruits as pineapple, banana with honey, lot of esters, there are citrus fruits and lemon peel, all with roasted/medicinal touch. When aired a bit, dried fruits arise, burnt sugar, some vanilla and, leather, as the wood is young. Nice rest brings out more citrus as grape fruit, orange, some tropical fruits are rotten now, there is a touch of sugar cane and some liquorice, chocolate. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is spicy, estery and fruity with sweet overripe, fermented tropical fruits, as banana, pineapple with honey, a bit funky. There is some metallic note, as we come to sugar cane with vanilla, licorice. The rum becomes dry and salty. We cannot overlook citrus and some tasty apple pie and young wood. Balanced and round...On long oxidation, ripe cherries arise, whatta surprise, a hint of menthol and some nougat. 8,6:The finish is tasty with honeyed tropical fruits, spicy, dry and salty with wood and pastries. Edit: 18.1.25, I like it, 0,2 higer.Alcohol nicely integrated. Edit:24.8.25, 😍, a pretty underestimated rum, a great complexity.

This is again one of those candidates where I have a hard time: sure, for 50 EUR you get an interesting rum here, price/performance wise nothing to complain about, but considered on its own it seems a bit rough and unbalanced to me. The high ABV also stands out quite a bit. Also on the palate no revelation for me. So I can leave it at the sample... anyway, many thanks to Nuremberg for the split!

A tropical and incredibly sweet vanilla and caramel smell greets you. It carries through in taste, complemented by banana milk with lots of honey. Medium, slightly coffee and nutty finish. Outstanding value for money.

In my opinion another absolutely brilliant release from TheRumCask. I find the combination of WP in the DOK cask more than successful. For the price a great rum! The flavor profiles of WP and the cask complement each other quite well. But since I only had a quick taste this morning, I will analyze it again calmly in a quiet moment. I like it a lot and have reordered. Will probably be my favorite daily sipper for the near future. Alcohol is very well integrated.

Empfehlung!

Nice blend with great value for money. Fresh fruits meet expressive spices. The alcohol is also solidly integrated. I like it!

Very tasty TRC anniversary bottling. The ester content is clearly recognizable on the nose, whether DOK or not is debatable. Very sweet in the mouth with a nice WP recognizable character with honey, fermented fruits, and woody notes. The DOK finish is less noticeable in the mouth than on the nose.

Great PLV. A great daily sipper. However, the alcohol is not perfectly integrated. Just barely an 8+.

The only anniversary edition I treated myself to. I was a bit skeptical about the 5 years, but I'm positively surprised. The DOK cask did a good job and stamps the WP. It's quite light on the nose but the funk comes through, citrus fruits, pineapple, varnish and slight honey. For the short maturation time, the alcohol is quite well integrated. Wood and spice on the palate, surrounded by light sweetness, varnish and fruitiness. I like it, a successful interplay.

You can clearly notice the DOK cask. Brings a nice fruitiness. WP rather in the background, but not completely lost either. The alcohol is not so well integrated though. Especially a bit spirituous in the finish. Still great value for money!

Color: White wine Smell: Sweet, creamy and fruity with esters. Surprisingly little alcoholic. Smells like pear and tropical fruits. A bit of vanilla in the background. Taste: Sweet (honey), fruity and alcoholic in the mouth. When swallowed strong and intense, very spicy and alcoholic with esters. Tastes very fruity like mirabelle and mango. Finish: Long and spicy-alcoholic, slightly woody. Still sweet and fruity in the finish. Warms from deep inside. Really very delicious rum with good value for money. Puts many older and more expensive Jamaica rums to shame.

The nose is a bit strange, like Marihuana finished in a Single Grain Whisly cask, followed by tomato stem. I am a little bit disappointed, it is not a proper worthy park nor a Hampden DOK and feels young and unbalanced to me. I will give it another chance in a few weeks but today this would only end up in daiquiris. //Update As a Daiquiri this is just perfect and I am going to leave it here.

Nice and fruity and with the 62.2 degrees already a decent start. Overall for 50€ a reasonable bottling for the anniversary. Against my principles I added a bit of water because my tongue got a bit numb when drinking neat. It doesn't hurt, the aromas remain and remain noticeable ;-).

Somehow a strange rum. Jamaica comes through reasonably well here. The tropical fruits pineapple and banana, as well as esters, are noticeable. But it's also very spicy on the palate, this combination somehow doesn't work for me.

Mmm... don't like the nose so much. Weirdly alcoholic. Could be a matter of the day. Much better on the palate then. The finish is the highlight. Nicely spicy and warm. But overall quickly forgotten.
