Velier Long Pond Vale Royal (Serie Cedro) VRW 2005
Burnt sugar, dark chocolate and coffee lead here, with tropical fruit — pineapple, mango, cherry — cutting through the roast and a lick of glue and varnish underneath. One taster called it "eher röstig," and that's the character: a darker, drier Long Pond that runs tannic and slightly bitter into a long finish. At 61% the heat shows, but most found it well integrated. A few drops of water open it up.

In this long pond the 17 years of aging are all felt! Darker than others I have tasted, very important the spicy and bitter part on the palate to then get to a very pleasant finish! It does not present the usual moldy and fermented note that I found in all the other rums from this distillery!

9:On the nose, glue, polish, perfume, toasted oak barrel, creamy with chocolate, roasted nuts, almonds, pastry, nougat, crème brûlée, caramelized, vanilla, coconut, rhubarb, citrus fruits, black berry, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the molasses is thick, sweet with honeycomb, herbaceous, flowery, mango, pineapple, banana and yellow fruits join, anise and espresso...so complex, enticing. 9:On the palate, the attack is fruity with cherry, pineapple, coconut, black berry, later currants, citrus and dried fruits, the wood is toasted, charred with roasted almonds, coffee, dark chocolate, burnt sugar, pastry, leather, tannic, spicy with anise, allspice, ginger, as the molasses is dark with licorice, mineral, flowery, earthy with cigar tobacco, slightly bitter. 8,9:The finish is long, dry&tannic, with notes from the palate lingering on...slightly smoky..

Alles in allem ein gute Long Pond Abfüllung, jedoch hat sie es nicht komplett geschafft mich restlos für eine spitzen Bewertung zu überzeugen. Eher auf der rostigen Seite, der Alkohol ist gut eingebunden

Serie Cedro Velier Tasting: tropische Früchte, Karamell und Rösteinflüsse harmonieren hier perfekt zusammen. Unterschiedliche Kaffeevariationen begleiten einen von Nase bis Abgang. Alkohol etwas stark, aber längere Zeit im Fass hätte wahrscheinlich dem Geschmacksgleichgewicht geschadet

Alcohol integration is not the best on the nose and alcohol bites a bit. However, the palate is absolutely amazing with round notes like coconut, vanilla, almond and some funkyness brought by tropical fruits and some sour candies. Beautiful ! Rums are meant to be sipped afterall 😁

Gefällt mir wirklich sehr dieser Long Pond, Alkohol auch hier kaum erkennbar. Jedenfalls sehr röstiges Teil. In der Nase neben Vanille und Karamell auch etwas Fass. Am Gaumen gebrannter Zucker, dunkle Schokolade, Karamell und Kaffee.
