Silver Seal Diamond Demerara 18 (Serie Cedro) 2003
Anyone who chases dark, roasty Demeraras will find their lane here. It's coffee-forward and seriously toasted — dark chocolate, burnt caramel, a whisper of vanilla and licorice underneath. Several tasters note it drinks like a tropical-aged Diamond despite the continental maturation. Dry and tannic on the long finish, with a touch of bitterness a couple of members flagged. The 53.5% sits well.

Review by Giorgio Garotti
A continental-aged Diamond that approaches the flavor profile of tropical-aged ones! Very good integration of the cask, although some bitterness can be detected at times, excellent intensity and pleasant, distinct flavors!
Review by LukaŽiga
8,8:On the nose, toasted wood with dark chocolate, coffee, maple, slightly burnt, perhaps cocoa, caramel, leather, spicy with cinnamon, barrel impact is strong, dried apricots, raisins, coconut, sour cherry, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, burnt sugar is caramelized, roasted notes are strong, pastry, toffee, perhaps roasted nuts, marshmallows join, custard, some orange peel, the molasses is dark with licorice, black tea, earthy with tobacco. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is dark with roasted, charred wood notes like crème brûlée, roasted nuts, dark chocolate, caramel, coffee, burnt sugar, leather, spicy with fruity with raspberry, sour cherry, dried apricots, raisins, orange peel, coconut, very marmelade like, as the molasses is dark with licorice, black tea, vegetal with root, flowery, perhaps herbaceous. 8,8:The finish is long, dry&tannic, balanced, with burnt, slightly resinous, spicy wood notes, pairing dark molasses and various fruits from before..

Both nose and palate really match what I would expect from a Diamond of this kind. I just miss a slightly better alcohol integration on the nose and a bit more depth on the palate. Otherwise, a very great selection from Silver Seal !
Review by Johannes
I like this Diamond much better. More molasses, licorice, much rounder.
Review by Righrum
I do not account the price in my notes, otherwise for the ridicolous pricing my score would be much lower. The profile is really intense for a Continental aged Demerara, and it is mainly driven by coffee and woody notes, along with burned caramel. The palate is consistent, buy adds some small fruitiness (candied orange) and unfortunately a tad of bitterness that impairs the overall experience
Review by Michal Jurka
Very pastry/bakery nose, roasted, yet creamy, chocolate and coffee, hints of coconut, hints of dried fruits... just my kind of aroma. The taste is pleasantly bitter of dark chocolate and coffee, almost burnt, earthy of herbs. Very pleasant abv.
