This one is like a hammer if you don't let it rest. I found it to be best after 45 minuts of rest after which the ABV stops biting into the flavours. The nose is alcoholic of not rested, light wood with rubber, tar, apple, licorice and light floral notes. The palate is also alcoholic if not rested with wood, rubber, tar trailed by vanilla, leather, licorice and light caramel and earthy notes. The finish is long is woody with spice, caramel and light leather. As I mentioned, this rum really needs to rest in order to release all flavours and settle on the ABV.

Really great! The Yellow Caroni of course first very similar, but not as deep and intense. I find the Yellow Caroni really good, but you definitely need the right day for such an intense barrel aging. You don't have that "problem" with this one, which makes it much more "everyday". Even with 5 years less of tropical aging, you still have high intensity, deep, ripe and complex flavors here, both on the nose and on the palate. What the Caroni nerd wants, he gets here definitely

Epic Velier Caroni Tasting 2023: Exquisite 94 Caroni. Classic profile with decent dirt, but balanced sweetness, wood, spice, coffee, licorice and mineral notes. The Hangar series is definitely top notch Caroni.

Un nez complexe et chaleureux avec du jus de pomme, de l’ananas et d’autres fruits tropicaux, du goudron. Ça commence en douceur, puis les arômes envahissent la bouche avec des fruits et de l’atelier mécanique. La finale n’est pas des plus longues. Un très beau Caroni, complexe et profond, même si en comparaison directe, les 92 me semblent nettement au dessus des 94.

Hier treten in der Nase die Werkstatt-Noten dominant auf. Dazu Menthol und Lakritze. Auch Frucht ist genug da, Richtung Ananas. Holz und Karamell kommen am Gaumen dazu. Im Abgang kommen alle Noten nochmal zusammen, allerdings etwas im Schnelldurchgang. Der Abgang könnte gerne etwas länger ausfallen.

Another outstanding Caroni. Extremely powerful even after a 90 minute rest in the glass. 2nd tasting, reducing my note by 2 points. Still a very good Caroni.

Very good 1994 with great Caroni DNA. A tad too biting for a top rating. Its reduced little brother (Hangar 1994 18yo 55%) brings out the full potential.
