Swell Masterclass RumX 28.03.2024 So I tip my hat briefly to Mika. Really a great rum blend. Harmonizes really well together. Although I have to say, I also find the label super successful.

Most helpful mixed review
I really struggle with this rum. On the nose roasted notes and burnt sugar, on the palate then pepper and something undefinable, spicy, that doesn’t really harmonize. I’m overwhelmed :-(

RumX and Swell de Spirit online tasting, March 2024. The nose is reminiscent of an old wooden house, with leather, varnish and lively fruit, coconut and star fruit. The palate is more on the coconut and pastry side, with beautifully complex aromas. The long finish returns to varnished wood, leather and lots of coconut. A very fine blend that aptly combines the qualities of the two rums (Long Pond 2006 and Travellers 2004). The Belize smoothes out the edges, while the Jamaican adds fruitiness and freshness.

Well executed blend. The Traveller‘s part is well acomapied with some Jamaican notes from the low ester LP. Fruits, coconuts and chocolate. A bit peppery on the palate, but very enjoyable experience. Tasty! Cheers to Mika and the RumX team for making the master class possible. Very nice line-up!

We had a really fantastic masterclass with Mika from Swell. The session was extremely informative and the rums truly excellent! This blend was the easiest of the session. It consists of 55% Long Pond and 45% Travallers - which we both then tasted individually. The blend initially comes across with Jamaican esters, but already in the second second the Belize aromas clearly come to the forefront. You find coconut and other nuts, tropical fruits and dried apricot. The palate is dominated by Long Pond, but the dilution and the Belize make it much softer than the Long Pond alone. Here there are vegetal notes and heavy spices. The finish is relatively soft and only slightly astringent. A good blend in which both elements enter into a nice harmony.

An extremely indulgent profile on this rum where coconut is the first to be felt. Vanilla is present, as well as wood. On the palate, a frank and biting attack, the degrees are there. The wood immediately takes over the whole palate. Then a beautiful indulgence appears. Green, caramelized, licorice. Finish with a bitterness typical of Guyanese. Nice length

Jamaica meets Belize: a blend of the seventeen-year-old Long Pond and the fifteen-year-old Travellers Rum, which were also bottled separately, with a slight dilution to 59%. Exciting interplay between nose and palate - the olfactory associations are still dominated by the Belize profile with lots of caramel, vanilla, oak and coconut, while on the palate the Long Pond is much more prominent and leaves the stage to the tropical fruits. An exciting experiment that also works perfectly in terms of alcohol integration.

Surprisingly complex, very aromatic blend from Belize and Long Pond! Belize brings the beautiful coconut, banana and caramel notes, as well as some overripe pineapple. Long Pond brings dirty, almost fermented ester notes and intensifies the moisture but also brings these intense meaty ester notes and funk. Extremely aromatic and tasty, Long Pond dominates over time but is sufficiently supported by Belize to be maximally drinkable. Very nice, round and complex blend!

Also super tasty. In my opinion, it has a nice light fruity nose of tropical fruits like coconut and banana. This continues on the palate. Really a delicious blend. Still 6 to go.

Nose Fruity, light wood, floral, marzipan, light Palate Light, oily, warm, vegetal, wood, tannins, fruity, pineapple, light ester, naturally sweet. Finish Medium long, warm, oily, light mint, fruity, light wood. The empty glass has some tannins, vanilla and faint chocolate

Very creamy, sweet on the nose. Cookie dough. Nice! The palate is unexpectedly harsh, alcohol with some burnt bitterness. Needs time to settle. Fruits in the background, banana and LP notes. wood spices start to dominate. Medium long finish.

Again a very good Rum Swell de Spirits. Definitely very interesting, the tropical fruits dominate in taste and smell. But also notes of caramel, vanilla or coconut emerge.

Sweet coconut, crème brûlée, oak, a tropical wonder on the palate. Coconut and vanilla remain present on the finish. After the restrained nose that rather reminds of Belize, you wouldn't expect all this.

A nice blend, harmonious and accessible. The Travellers portion forms the pleasant, roasted-caramel base and the Long Pond portion provides a few stimulating ester moments. Everything is rounded off by a cozy, toasty oak accompaniment with lots of vanilla and coconut. Delicious!

We continue with the Masterclass samples. A super blend that combines fewer opposites than the "Utopia" blend from Vagabond. This one is rounder, more finely tuned and more elegant. Different and just as good. Very finely blended!

Nose: beautiful roasted coconut, almost Jamaican fruits, crème brûlée? Palate: a fairly balanced mix of Long Pond & coconut/vanilla, easy to drink. Honestly intoxicating, you want to go back to it right away. 8.9+ too easy/cool to drink and yet complex! I loved it.

Nice coconut on the nose with fruit and barrel influence. On the palate then a surprisingly sweet drink. The coconut is still fully present, but now a peppery note also joins in. Nice.

Definitely a nice blend. Nothing crazy, but a nice mix of some typical red Long Pond notes - but I'm not sure I would have recognized them without the helpful explanations - and the Travellers. On the nose unexpectedly tame for me. More the burnt sugar from Belize comes through.

On the nose, we have both the somewhat dark side of Long Pond in its fruity and roasted aspect, then the sunshine of vanilla in its caramelized coconut! Slight dominance of Belize which accompanies more the finish! Being a fan of this gustatory destination, I appreciated the 'dancehall' variant of this cuvée!

Tasted this at SDR23, so my review remains rather concise. This rum displays both on the nose and on the palate a similar, coherent profile. Very Belize forward, especially on the back of the palate: coconut, burnt sugar and vanilla. Very sweet. The LP component does rear its head occasionally with spots of red fruits and freshly mown grass. It’s a pleasure to drink and an exciting thought experiment, but I personally expected a little more.

It's a Blended Rum: 55% Long Pond 🇯🇲2006 and 45% Travellers 2008 🇧🇿. Over-the-top indulgence with a hint of madness! Varnish, coconut, explosive fruits! On the nose you clearly recognize the Belize Deymier, accompanied by exotic fruits. The mouth is quite lively, the two rums really blend into each other. A note of lime also appears. Medium-long finish. Another very nice bottling from Swell for a blend not obvious on paper.

It's dominated by Belize, even if Long Pond brings a nice indulgence on the nose, it's nice and goes down very easily, without revolutionizing the genre, but that's clearly not the goal.

A pretty nice and successful blend. Belize takes a bit of the lead with its coconut notes on the nose but you can still feel a varnish side typical of Jamaican. On the palate, the funk side of Long Pond matches well balanced by the indulgence of Belize. Coconut, fruits and a bit of varnish. Even a certain menthol freshness, a nice rum.
