👃 A first nose that reveals a subtle veil of slightly chocolatey orange blossom. The 48.5% ABV is not noticeable and allows for a finer, more blended nose compared to the all-out cask strength styles that are trendy. You can clearly stick your nose right in, finding a combination of fresh and toasted coconut, soft caramel, and vanilla pod. With some aeration that does it good, I find various spices and dried fruits like at a typical market in the Indian Ocean islands. It's indulgent. 😋 An explosion of cooking spices, cinnamon, a hint of ginger, all mixed with a caramelized sauce. The wood rounds off the edges nicely, with little notes of candied orange settling on the mouth’s walls. On the second sip, brown sugar, a toasted coconut side with a flan topped with flambéed caramel. A dessert. The more the glass empties, the more my nose detects a slight mentholated, fresh aspect. 💡 A very well-managed reduction, it’s silky and warming on the palate, a beautiful olfactory success. I could easily see this as the first in a full Barbados lineup, before moving on to the big concentration beasts at higher proofs.

8,8:On the nose, banana and green fruits, polish, wax, minty molasses, sweet with honey, roasted wood notes like marzipan, milk chocolate, almonds, caramel, dark chocolate, leather, baking spices, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the apple is baked, the rum is very balanced, allspice, vanilla join, citrus and dried fruits, the molasses becomes grassy, fresh with tea. 8,3:On the palate, the attack is less balanced as before, with menthol, polish, some rubber, roasted oak notes with caramel, milk chocolate, caramel, later marzipan, almonds, spicy with cinnamon, pepper, vanilla, fruits like dried apricots, raisins, orange peel, as the molasses is minty, grassy, fresh with tea, vegetal with chilli. 8,2:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, with roasted oak notes, spicy, pairing banana, peaches, mandarine, minty molasses, medicinal touch.

#6879 02.06.2026 Relaxing with a few samples after a 16 km fast hike, preparing for a 20 km hike with my wife on Saturday. Listening to some nice Goa Trance on Spotify. A pretty nice rum with an OK price tag in my mind. Medium intense with nice herbal, olive, floral, fruits, light rubber, smoke, mint and light roasted wood.

So for me, this rum is not a Foursquare as indicated here, but I'm pretty sure I'm dealing with a Mount Gay. Any markers I associate with Foursquare are missing. Instead, there's a good load of wood with menthol-minty polish fumes, some herbs, and also fruit aromas between bananas and citrus fruits. Edit: The distillery info has now been changed to Mount Gay.
