Very drinkable Belize, powerful with very balanced sweetness that never becomes too flat. Fun to drink, works despite (or perhaps because of, as some would argue) the high alcohol content still very well as a pleasure rum. Successful selection!

In addition to dark chocolate, which I often have in my mouth with Belize rum, there is also sweet orange and a little coconut. The alcohol is so perfectly integrated that you can concentrate fully on the aromas. Young wood remains in the background in the taste and harmonizes well.

Nice nose but unfortunately a bit too bitter, alcoholic and burnt for me in taste. Also a strange brine note that confuses me. So there are slight deductions in the rating here. Could be a bit rounder for my taste.

Here is the next rum from the RumX Advent calendar. You can taste some coconut on the nose. In the taste, however, chocolate dominates but coconut is also recognizable. Very good rum

Vanilla and walnut aromas. Relatively bitter for a Belize. The alcohol comes across extremely strong. Slight burn in the finish. I found the other Belize much softer and rounder there.

Day 9 RumX Advent calendar First of all, you have to say this. This rum needs to sit, in my opinion for 45 minutes. Then this rum is a completely different one. Unbelievable coconut and awesome caramel/nut mix with a bit of cappuccino. Completely underrated and I actually have to say I had it in the glass some time ago and it didn’t convince me with less resting time. For me, top!!!!!!

#4229 Wow, this is a really nice rum. I'd say that the price to quality is very good. Fruity and fresh with nice roasted wood. The palate is warm/spicy with an oily feel and natural sweetness. Draws really nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass has some chocolate and cherries. Just went back to the glass and there is a nice minty note now as well.

Sweet fruits, light plum, chestnut-like and somewhat astringent finish. Not exactly my flavor profile, but really tasty. The alcohol could hold back a bit more though.

On the nose, there are immediate aromas of glue, ester and coconut. The longer it lingers in the glass, I perceive macaroon and marshmallows, with an overripe bitter orange at the very end. On the palate, if you let the rum slowly roll off the tip of your tongue, first something salty/sweet (funky and crunchy), then something bitter, mixed with coconut, roasted chestnuts and sugar, followed later by tea and allspice. If you approach the whole thing a little more impetuously and rinse the rum in the mouth, coconut and sweetness predominate. The finish is slightly bitter with dark chocolate and tea. This is not a classic Belize for me, but a very good rum with rough edges. Thanks to the donor of the sample, "Spirit of Rum"

8,4:On the nose, the first impression we get is a toasted coconut, roasted wood, out of it vanilla, chocolate, caramel and roasted nuts, accompanied with some glue. When aired a bit, menthol is obvious, some spice, orange, molasses is interwoven with confectionery like gingerbread. 8,6:On the palate, the attack is pleasant with toasted and roasted wood, coconut, dry, the sugar is burnt, spicy and fruity with yellow fruits, citrus, especially peaches, as the bourbon ageing is strongly felt, some dried fruits. The Spanish style is obvious, as the ron is a bit sweeter. There are caramel, chocolate, roasted nuts, vanilla, delicious nougat, after some rest, there is a bit of a bitter cocoa and inevitable Belizean menthol. It is very complex, with many faces, as one of them shows also confectionery with gingerbread and banana bread, the other vegetal notes as tea... I like it.... Very tasty. 8,6:The finish is long and woody, dry. All notes from the palate continue, with some mineral and floral addition... Coool🤘...

Rumclub Belize No. 38. Wow, a really great piece. Has a really nice nose consisting of chocolate (dark) and caramel. Also slightly woody. On the palate also chocolate and burnt sugar. Delicious.

RX Advent Calendar 2024. At first the nose comes across quite alcoholic, but this settles with time. Then coconut, oak barrel, chocolate appear. On the palate very strong, roasted. For 17 years of aging (10 of them tropical) somewhat rough and unbalanced. Maybe a slight dilution would have helped.

Avant RumX calendar, day 9. A nose that's both sweet (pastry, vanilla) and lively (alcohol), with fruit, acetone and varnished wood. The palate confirms the presence of alcohol, a pastry side with lots of vanilla that coats the mouth well. But then the alcohol rises and masks the aromas. The finish is rather short because of this resurgence of alcohol. And right at the end, the vanilla and pastry notes come through. A rum with too much alcohol and not really balanced for my taste, but rather tasty.

This Travellers is actually the best I've had in the glass so far! And indeed one of the oldest Belize bottlings I've found in the database, aged tropical for 10 years as well. On the nose it has a pleasant glue note that reminds me of bourbon, along with wood, light fruits, and some coconut – when you enter Rum-Depot, it smells kind of like that 😇 On the palate I get really intense milk chocolate and coconut – Bounty fits perfectly here! The finish is soft and pleasant, lingering in the flavor direction of milk chocolate, like its melt staying on the tongue for a while, plus I also perceive some tobacco. The alcohol is very well integrated, it's really fun to engage with this rum.

On the nose, the 62 ABV is noticeable and masks the coconut and sweet notes. On the palate then totally beautiful chocolate and coconut notes with subtle wood and light sweetness. Sips wonderfully! Really a successful bottling!

RumX Advent Calendar door 9. Very very woody-caramel nose with cola and some spice. On the palate a real chocolate bomb, lots of caramel, wood, mocha, malt. Dry. Finish stays long. Really nice.

Typical Belize notes. Coconut, a bit fruity chocolate. The high ABV is somewhat pushed aside by a decent sweetness. This makes it seem smoother. I miss the strong profile that characterizes the FRC or the RA, even though the alcohol is much more noticeable in those.

Very nice on the nose, vanilla, chocolate and some bounty. The alcohol is also present and brings some glue into play. In the mouth it's super chocolate, thick like honey, until the spice and wood take over. The alcohol could be better integrated. The finish is warm and lingers for a while. Wood and chocolate also prevail here. Very drinkable!

On the nose dark chocolate and roasted coconut. On the palate a nice mix of coconut and burnt sugar. The sugar develops towards the finish into delicious Crème Brûlée. On the palate the rum also brings something funky-salty which I find hard to grasp.

Advent calendar #9. My first impression takes me to Central America, tendency Panama. Very sweet, lots of vanilla and caramel, some wood. On the palate it burns at first, probably high ABV >55%. All in all I like it quite a bit and it reminds me of the beginnings of my rum journey. I find the profile quite nice, but it's no longer for me.

RumX Calendar 2024 Day 9: Vanilla, coconut, cinnamon. All quite gentle and harmonious. But unexciting. Are we somewhere in Barbados? Or Belize? Alcohol is added in the mouth, spiciness accompanies the coconut, plus chocolate. I think 55%+, but I don't know enough about Central Americans to know more.

Super rum! On the nose first coconut and old wood. At the same time mega intense without unpleasant alcohol note. On the palate then a little less going on. Still fruity and also the coconut note is there again. The finish is long. The alcohol is in my opinion super integrated, which is not always the case with barrel strengths from Belize. The 2006 vintage has a hard time keeping up with the 2008 vintage. Had both RumClub again in the glass. The 2006 has much worse integrated alcohol with minimal spritzy notes. Chocolate, coconut, vanilla, caramel. All there, but the 2008 transports it much better.

A rum from Belize with a heavy hand on the alcohol. The nose is at first indulgent but quickly reveals its alcoholic power, nuanced by many sweet notes (caramel, toffee, marshmallow, milk chocolate), spices (vanilla, pepper), toasted wood, and coconut. The profile is rather classic but promises intensity ahead. The attack on the palate is powerful, very lively. The alcohol is a bit too present and spoils the opulence of caramel, pastry, and burnt sugar notes. Milk chocolate, coconut, dried fruits, chili, toasted oak, and salt enhance the profile but do not erase its harshness. The profile lacks balance and depth, completely overshadowed by its brute strength. The finish is long, dry, warm but remains on a soft and creamy register: fruits join caramel against more bitter notes of dark chocolate, coffee, and roasted oak edged with spices. A Travellers that wants to show that Belize rums are not just sweets but also gets unbalanced by drowning in alcohol.

Pleasant and round on the nose with vanilla and coconut. On the palate also very round and quite sweet, with vanilla, coconut, baking spices, and some oak. The finish is medium-length with vanilla and coconut. I think today we are in Barbados, maybe a dry New Yarmouth towards Swell Flashback (RX12161). Could be a Foursquare, but not necessarily. The alcohol demands a bit; I guess it's around 60% or more.

I like it even better at the 2nd tasting. Tasted in direct comparison with the RC Ed.41, among others. The Ed.38 is less roasty and spicy overall, not quite as complex. Both remind me strongly of the 94 NY profile. PLV for both bottlings top!

I expect this to be a foursquare. The usual varnish and woody notes of the high abv foursquare are all here, along with the bourbon notes. There is a small similarity to a belize, but the varnish is usually lesser in this rums and there is some more layer of complexity.

RumX Advent Calendar 2024: No. 9 Today I guess a rum from South or Central America. Very sweet and many influences of coconut and vanilla. Could be Nicaragua. The alcohol is not perfectly integrated for me, a bit sharp-edged in the mouth.
