Instead you get yellow fruit (apricot, peach, overripe banana), caramel, varnish, and a strong mint-menthol streak over young oak. RumX and Swell de Spirit online tasting, March 2024. Varnished wood on the first nose, mirabelle plum and apricot, overripe banana and mango, salted butter caramel. Fruit dominates on the palate, especially apricot and mirabelle plum flesh. Woody but also fresh. The finish is long and divided between dark aromas and fresh, fruity notes. A complex, evolving, balanced rum. A very fine selection.

Swell Masterclass RumX 28.03.2024 Ich mag dieses ITP Mark, obwohl dies nicht unbedingt der typische Long Pond von der Stange ist. Finde es eine sehr gut gelungene Abfüllung die auch im Blend von Mika ihren Platz gefunden hat. Super Auswahl.

Chapeau an Swell de Spirits! Bei diesem Long Pond sucht man vergebens nach dem bekannten Jamaica funk mit Ananas & Co. An der Nase eher mit Kräutern und Menthol auffällig, gejt es am Gaumen genauso weiter. Hinzu wird es etwas holzig und immer wieder mit Menthol/Minze. Ich schmecke hier auch schwarzen Tee und Pfirsich. Stets etwas pfeffrig, bwsonders im Abgang. Kein Überflieger, aber sehr interessant! Glaube das hatten ich die letzten Tage öfter: Eine lange Standzeit könnte ihm sehr gut tun!

Wir hatten eine wirklich fantastische Masterclass mit Mika von Swell. Die Session war ausgesprochen informativ und die Rums wirklich hervorragend! Diesen Long Pond habenmwur zweimal verkostet. Einmal als 55% des Blends RX16704 und einmal als Single Cask. Der Single Cask hat 14 Jahre tropische Reife hinter sich. Die Nase ist relativ leicht und verhalten, die Ester, die man im Blend wahrnehmen kanm, kommen hier kaum zum Tragen. Man findet etwas Banane, Mango und getrocknete Aprikose. Der Mund ist viel intensiver als die Nase, neben tropischen Früchten (vor allem Banane) gibt es hier weiter gelbe Früchte. Leider ist der Rum auch eteas scharfkantige, was bei fast 67% nicht verwunderlich ist. Ein schöner Rum, aber nicht mein favorisiertes LB Profil.

Oh wow, ein top Rum. Geht für mich heute erstmals in den 9er Bereich. In der Nase hat man hier eine schöne Fruchtnote wir in der Masterclass gesagt wurde sind das hier die gelben Früchte wie Pfirsich oder Aprikose. Still 5 to go :)

Premier nez très soft sur ce rhum. Du caramel, un boisé léger, une sensation de noix de coco et quelques esters. On n'est pas sur un profil funky. En bouche, wow, ça explose de partout. Fruits, bois, esters, caramel. C'est doux mais puissant, fruité mais boisé. Tout se chevauche et cohabite. C'est génial. Grosse longueur et finale d'une belle gourmandise. L'alcool est sensible mais superbement intégré. Magnifique.

#4679 28.03.2024 Very nice online Masterclass with Swell de Spirits. Nose Intense, fruity, overripe, banana, ester, light glue, wood, tannins, balanced. Palate Intense, spicy, fruity, light herbs, banana, naturally sweet, light citrus, light roasted wood. Finiah Long, spicy, citrus, wood, medium dry, naturally sweet The empty glass has some faint chocolate and berries.

Low-ester Long Pond from 2006, which offers room for many heavier wood and spice flavors in addition to some typical Long Pond aromas. Personally, this combination doesn't appeal to me as much as the even fruitier releases, but it is nonetheless a very appealing rum at a great level - the aromatic complexity is just as convincing as the alcohol integration. Another exciting selection from Swell de Spirits and the mastermind behind it, Mika.

Gentle, fresh nose. Need to search for the flavors, nice complexity. The palate gets suddenly intense, spices & fruits show up driven by the abv. Long finish with similar notes than the palate. The spices & fruits stay in the tongue for quite some time

Intense Long Pond. The long tropical aging definitely shows giving a rich and woody sensation. Reminds me somewhat of the Long Pond ITP original bottling but exactly with the additional power the OB was missing. Cheers to Mika and the RumX team for making the master class possible. Very nice line-up!

Eukalyptus und Pfirsich ergeben eine sehr einladende Nase. Im Geschmack kommt junges Holz und Erdbeere dazu. Sehr unerwartet, da ich deutlich mehr tropische Früchte erwartet hätte, mir gefällt es aber.

Highly unusual Long Pond. On the nose I was blind at first with a TDL with light mint and yellow fruit notes, then the taste was more reminiscent of an old Monymusk with lots of menthol, slightly bitter wood notes and rather yellow stone fruit. Overall, not quite what I had hoped for, the alcohol is still quite present even after almost an hour of breathing, which for me costs slight deductions in the rating and overall it unfortunately tastes quite burnt to me in the finish... I would have hoped for more funk here!

Quel nez ! Entre les fruits jaunes, la coco, le caramel et un peu végétal. Léger sur les esters. En bouche c’est aussi superbe avec une intégration assez incroyable de l’alcool, sur les fruits rouges, les épices, le caramel et le menthol. Superbe sélection.

Too much alcohol impairs greatly my evaluation. This is a great low esters high congeners Jamaican rum. On the nose caramel, some wood and fruits. The fruit is amazing in the mouth, unfortunately the alcool bites really too much for my taste, otherwise my score would have been way higher

Nez : alcool invisible, WTF : sucre brun, brulé, fruits pourris mais légers, abricot ? Spéculos ? Bouche : alcool plus puissant et qui monte progressivement à la tête, ca chauffe. Fruits / abricot / épices / bois. 8.7+ vraiment superbe meme si un poil atypique (moins d’ester et d’ananas/fruits exotiques).

An der Nase unglaubliche Mischung aus Minze und Menthol. Sehr interessant. Am Gaumen ist dann das Menthol sehr dominant. Wow ist der gut und zugänglich. Wirklich toll. Sehr sanft am Gaumen mit langem Abgang.

Der gefällt mir ziemlich gut. Natürlich brauchen die 67% erstmal ein bisschen. Aber mir gefällt, dass es nicht zu sauer wird. Das hab ich sonst gelegentlich bei Long Ponds. Da hat die lange Lagerung auf jeden Fall geholfen 👌🏻
